DO NOT go to this practice if you have any needs that surpass your annual check. If you need to…read morespeak to Dr. Singer with follow up questions after your appointment, you will not be able to unless it goes through your insurance. That's absurd. I have never been a patient at a practice where I couldn't speak to my doctor without an appointment. I am also an RN with experience working at several prominent private practices in NYC and Houston, and I have never worked at a practice where the patients were prohibited from speaking to their doctor without an appointment. Instead, Dr. Singer will have you speak to her medical assistant, Diana, who has little to no medical knowledge and is both rude and condescending. As for my own experience, I had bloodwork drawn for both Dr. Singer and my dermatologist. A few of my labs came back abnormal from both sets of labs ordered. When I called to discuss the results with Dr. Singer the medical assistant stated that "Dr. Singer said everything is normal." When I questioned how that could be considering the lab itself is not within normal range, her answer was again, "Dr. Singer says it's normal." I asked if I could speak to Dr. Singer since the lab result itself reads that it's out of range so I don't understand how that could be normal. Again, she flatly said, "well, that's what Dr. Singer said. They are normal" and I would need to make an appointment if I want to discuss with Dr. Singer further. (Of note, my dermatologist was happy to discuss my labs over the phone, which took all of 10 minutes.) I reluctantly decided to make an appointment hoping to get answers and peace of mind. The day of my appointment, I discussed my labs with Dr. Singer and told her about the labs my dermatologist drew including which ones were out of range. She couldn't see them in her EMR system so she said she would have her office call over there to get them and follow up with me after reviewing. She stated she would either send me to have additional labs drawn at that time or she would make an appropriate referral to a specialist. Fast forward to the week after my appointment and I haven't heard anything from Dr. Singer. I called Dr. Singers office, left a message, and received a call back 2 days later from the medical assistant who tells me again my labs are normal. I question her--how could they be normal when I know there were labs out of normal range? She again tells me they were normal. I'm frustrated now because clearly she's either incompetent, careless, or ill informed and she arguing with me that the labs are normal. I come to find they never got my labs from my dermatologist, so she was telling me about the labs Dr. Singer had ordered. That's scary. What if I was not a medical professional myself and therefore did not know to question further? Most people would say, "oh great! Everything's normal," and leave it at that. I could have cancer. I could have an auto immune disease. And you just told me everything is normal. That is borderline malpractice. I also came to find that Dr. Singer neglected to include anything in her visit note about obtaining labs from my dermatologist even though she took the doctors name from me, we discussed which labs were out of range, and it was the ENTIRE reason for my visit. Sadly, I now know she wasn't even listening to me. After all this, STILL, I can't speak to Dr. Singer without a phone appointment that will go through my insurance. The whole purpose of last weeks visit was to establish the next step in my plan of care. Dr. Singer specifically stated SHE would follow up with me after reviewing the results from my other doctor and that SHE would "either order additional labs or refer" me to an appropriate specialist. In the end, it was a complete waste of time and money. I got absolutely no questions answered and I will now pay a new doctor before I pay Dr. Singer another penny for something I already paid her for. I just pray my next doctor has more compassion for their patients and isn't just hungry for another buck.

I showed up two days in a row and she would not let the doctor know I was there. Their system was down so I could not fill out my health history online so she cancelled me twice as I'm standing at the front desk. This was their error and I spent way to much time trying to login into a system that was not working on their end. I'm a cash patient who was looking to drop thousands of dollars on IV nutrition and aesthetic services. Do not waste your time with this place! Dr. Singer, get rid of the front desk girl. She is costing you way to much money in opportunity costs by denying loyal wellness cash patients like me. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Edit:: I'm still not thrilled with this office staff and Intermountain Healthcare in general, but I…read morehad to come back and write about Dr. Thomas because he really is amazing and quite possibly saved my son's life when he had the cord wrapped around his neck during delivery. He was always thoughtful and always made me feel like my thoughts and feelings were valid. He never rushed through an appointment or told me how to do things with my pregnancy. He was very personable, came in on a Saturday to induce me, and he even brought me a gift (a really cute car seat/nursing cover) after I delivered. If we decide to have a fourth baby, I will look forward to delivering with Dr. Thomas again. I'm pregnant with my third baby, so this isn't my first rodeo. We just moved to Utah a couple months ago and I was really specific with what kind of OB I was looking for: attentive, personable, someone who answers all my questions but also let's me run my own pregnancy the way I want to. I didn't get to meet dr. Thomas on my first visit, which I thought was kind of an impersonal approach to pregnancy. They just had me some in for lab work/a physical. How their practice is spread out is pretty confusing. My first visit, I was on the second floor. The lab is on the third. And my subsequent visits have been on the third floor. There wasn't hardly any direction on my first visits and it left me a little frustrated. And then there's the office staff... I had both of my little kids with my on my first visit. They have a small play area (with no toys) in their waiting area, and my kids are pretty well behaved, but I just got the vibe that they weren't welcome there. We do a Medishare, so we are technically cash patients. My previous OBs office thought this was great because it means they don't have to deal with insurance; but this office makes me feel like I'm an inconvenience every single time I come in. "Sooo you know you have to pay by 36 weeks right..." (yes I am very aware and only 16 weeks. You have my social and my address; if I don't pay it by the time it's due, then by all means, come after me.) "soooo you don't want to make any payments...?" (No, the whole bill will be paid in entirety next month, I've already cleared it with billing.) "soooo you know that you have to pay the ultrasound up front...no, we can't give you a bill before hand...sorry." And then they told me I can't bring my baby into the ultrasound, which I've never heard before and is really inconvenient because now i have to get a babysitter so my husband can come with me. So I haven't had the best experience with them. And then there's the issue with the pencils for the urine sample. Every time I've gone in, their pencils are broken and they just have little remnant pieces they expect you to pick up and use? I've told them several times, they don't even get up to look and replace them. How hard is it to just get a sharpie??? No one wants to use a half inch pencil piece to write their name all wonky on the plastic cup. The medical assistant is very nice and warm and personable and Dr. Thomas seems nice and thorough. I like him as a doctor and am looking forward to delivering with him, but I don't look forward to my office visits just because his front desk staff isn't welcoming and is super condescending.

My new insurance provider did not cover my particular type of BC on their list of preventatives (which per the Affordable Care Act, preventatives are covered without copayment), but Dr. Faircloth ensured me that she would get it figured out as I told her other BCs gave me problems. They submitted the scrip to my pharmacy who said it was being charged at $25. I called my insurance who said my doctor needed to file an appeal that it was for preventative purposes vs for treatment of other medical issues, and it would be covered at no cost. I let Dr. Faircloth's office know that, but I received a call from her nurse saying that they said they would only get it covered, and it's not their problem that it's not being filled as a preventative and they can't do anything (other than suggesting that I switch health insurance providers??? Which thanks for the great suggestion, my employer only gave me one option). So my option is find some doctor who is willing to put in the legwork or pay $300/yr to not get pregnant.
