Sip Cafe checks all my boxes for a great coffee shop: an attractive, comfortable space to hang out, independent, non-commercial vibe, friendly staff, baked goods made in house, and of course good coffee. I only had an Americano and a muffin so I can only judge by first impression. The coffee was decent and of course made from locally-roasted, fair-trade-certified beans. The chocolate espresso muffin was good but was kind of "cake"y; it lacked textural interest like chocolate chips or a pleasingly overbaked top. Good flavor though. As I sat with my coffee and planned my day I took in the surroundings. Clean and modern yet retaining a cozy, homey feel. Wood tones and brick dominate the decor. I perused the other food offerings and found a fairly limited selection of baked goods. Several muffin types were available but no croissants, cookies, scones etc. It was late in the morning though so they may have sold out of them. They have breakfast sandwiches made to order, lunch sandwiches, salads, and soups. All looked good. A whole counter dedicated to gelato! All empty though; maybe it's just served in summer? An astoundingly large selection of teas, the many canisters taking up most of the wall space behind the counter. Wish I liked tea! And - very unusual for a coffee shop - beer and cider (all local, craft brands) and wine! Probably coming back tomorrow for beans to take home and maybe sandwiches for a picnic lunch. read more

Had some extra time before catching the ferry. We had a large group and ordered hot drinks, iced drinks, tea, coffee, and Lattes. There were tons of tea options. Everything tasted wonderful and service was amazing. read more

A great spot right in beautiful Downtown Yarmouth. This space is HUGE and can be accessed from the front or back of the building (parking out back or right out front). No need to line up at colon-cleansing chain coffee shops with this gem in town. They make REAL coffee along with lots of snacks and small cafe food items. Staff is wonderful and it's a great place to hang out or get some work done. Not sure if it's dog friendly, but we brought our (well-behaves) hound in to get our coffees to go and had no issues. read more

The 2 women were amazing in helping pick out just the right drink for a beautiful fall morning. Coffee, teas, apple cider, sandwiches and more. Sip Cafe was a wonderful and unexpected surprise when shopping in downtown Yarmouth. The first time I stopped in, the super friendly woman behind the counter helped me invent an iced bourbon vanilla rooibos concoction, that turned out amazing. A few hours later, I stopped by again with two older relatives, looking for a cold drink and a place to rest. While they sat on the comfortable couches, I ordered them an Italian lemon soda and an iced latte which they thoroughly enjoyed. read more

This is the best coffee place in Yarmouth, hands down. The vibe is modern coffee shop and the staff is incredibly friendly. The coffee exceeds any other option in Yarmouth. We realized on our ferry back that this is the same company that runs the Sip and Sea on the Cat. We did notice the gelato had some freezer burn on it so we decided not to partake. read more

This is a gorgeous cafe with delicious coffee, nice layout, tasty food. It was always something to look forward to when I trek to Yarmouth but sadly - mostly for me I guess because my coffee purchase certainly wasn't paying any bills - I won't be returning. I have never been more rudely treated by anyone in customer service. I can only assume the person was a manager or even the owner, in which case I feel great about never returning. The staff seemed embarrassed by her when she shouted "Just give it to her" about the coffee I had ordered. Why would a cafe stock a non dairy alternative if they were just going to argue about it? I order the same friggin thing at other cafes and have never had an issue. Yelling at someone that "Dry isn't an option" and then demanding "Just give it to her" in a very rude tone is pretty outrageous behaviour when the only thing we were trying to communicate with each other was that we were both aware coconut milk didn't froth well and that I didn't want a full cup of milk. read more

I was on business in Yarmouth and couldn't just leave without visiting a local coffee shop. I'm really surprised that small town like this has so much selection of teas. I couldn't even count how many types they had on the wall. That's not the point cause I was there to try some coffee. Decided to experiment with "the dirty hippie" as they call it. That was an interesting drink! It feels like a latte and it's got this nice foam on top with a leaf art and everything, but it also has this unique taste. Sadly I won't be going back anytime soon to try other drinks on the menu, but for anyone travelling that way you might want to check it out. One thing that bothered me is what coffee did they actually use. Many places have their own blend but they weren't selling any. Herbalists, espresso lovers, & activists.. this is a marvelous place to start your day. I appreciated the breastfeeding friendly signs and colorful decor. Herbal teas are offered with lengthy and thoughtful descriptions. The dirty hippie (chai latte with expresso shots) is the best I have ever had. read more

I just wish they had more of a menu similar to Starbucks in terms of things like frappucinos (I love the wide variety of frappucinos at Starbucks. Had a delicious Latte' on the ferry from Portland, was determined to find Sip once we arrived. Found it and returned several times during our Nova Scotia visit. Coffee is organic and delicious! My fellow traveler especially enjoyed the mango gelato. read more

We found good coffee in Yarmouth! Not only do they do coffees and related espresso drinks well, but they have an amazing assortment of loose leaf teas, baked goods, and gelato/sorbetto - all labeled for those of us who might be vegan, gluten free, or dairy free. I should add as well that they have non-dairy substitutes for their drinks. To top it off, the open front of the café and the indoor ambience make it a very welcoming space to stay for awhile. I love this place. The staff is always friendly, and ready to serve. The drinks are well worth the wait and money. As they carefully brew to perfection. Aside from being a tad on the small side, this place is a must visit for anyone looking for a cozy atmosphere. The summer is a great time to drop in, as they have a sidewalk deck. P.S. This place is a godsend. Seriously. I had heard a lot about it since moving away so I stopped by while visiting family this week. It was simple phenomenal. Not nessiccarialy in comparison to all other cafes in the world but it kicks the crap out of any place on the south shore for more then your cup of "timmies". Great flavor to the coffee, the beans made a really smooth espresso and I was quite frankly floored by the barista. I honestly had expected the worst though so my perception is a bit skewed. I had just a backside latte and I dare say it stacked up to most coffee houses. On top of that the cheesecake was so good, not overly sweet or rich. Only complaint, no metal utensils which caused some fighting with the gram cracker base. Overall a real gem. read more

Of course it's a little more pricey for most items than it would be elsewhere in Yarmouth, but the quality is definitely much better than anywhere else you could go. Turtle mocha is my favorite drink, and they have a huge selection of teas that I'd love to try. In the warmer months they have gelato which is absolutely amazing, but their iced drinks are fairly hit & miss... Some taste like dirt and some are great!
