It was a wonderful event with a dish for each year, along with wine pairings. Everything was fantastic. We also stayed in one of their cabins for two nights. We enjoyed breakfast brought to us each morning (thank you Katy!). We got a personal tour of where they grow a variety of delicious mushrooms on premises (thank you Tommy!). We ate lunch and dinner in the restaurant and had excellent service every time. We had fun trying a flight of their estate wines (thank you Hubert!). The food, the wine, the ambiance, and the entire experience were wonderful. It's a beautiful and peaceful location. For a place just 30 minutes from home, we really felt like we were on vacation in France or Napa. Katy and Hubert were wonderful hosts and their staff was terrific. We highly recommend you check it out!

The homemade Thousand Island was on the side so I could add just the right amount. Sandwiches came with a side. Mine was perfectly creamy coleslaw. The Chicken Salad Salad was hand made pulled chicken salad on top of a bowl of mixed greens. It was large enough for two. Most salads and sandwiches were north of $10. That might seem pricey, but with Sara's being practically the only lunchtime spot for miles around of this tourist community we're fortunate they didn't charge more.

Things got a little better and the two wines that are actually under their name/label were surprisingly delicious! Anyway, we were driving back to Louisville from Nashville and the Fella filled me with joy when he said we could stop at a couple wineries on the way. Not only is it a great way to break up the monotonous drive, but it allowed me to try more Kentucky wineries (like a Pokemon, I wanna try 'em all!). Cave Valley Winery was the right distance between the first place we stopped and getting home, so we decided this would be our final boozy-stop on the way. It is easy to get to, just a small loop off the highway at the Park City exit. It was a strange first impression when we got there, though. The winery isn't so much a winery, as it is a room inside an old hotel that also operates as the site's regular bar. They were also getting ready for a Ladies' Shooting competition to be held on the weekend, there were lots of gun signs and promotional booths and tents set up and sponsor banners. We weren't initially sure that we were at the right place...maybe some of the banners were covering the winery sign? Also...guns and alcohol...what could go wrong, amirite? It was strange. When we walked in to the bar, there were two people futzing around with the register iPad and a printer. It took a bit before we were greeted, and when we were, they both mentioned that they were not the tasting host and would go get her. While she was being retrieved, we were able to look over the wine list and the woman at the bar got us started with our first sample, though she admitted she didn't really know anything about the wines. Once the usual wine tasting host, Amber, came in we were ready to lock and load. (Get it...because of the gun range...no? Ok.) You get 5 samples for $5. But be aware, they only have TWO wines under their own label. The two they have are surprisingly delicious, if I do say so myself. As for the rest of the two-page wine list, they are all wines from Wight-Meyer, which is not one of my favorite places either. So that was a little disappointing. And they were out of a few of the wines I wanted to taste. Amber was pretty alright though, with some information on tasting notes. But she was minutes from the end of her shift and asked that we close out right away. Which was fine, we needed to get on the road again anyway. Overall, I am conflicted. It was a weird experience, but their wines are decent and once Amber got to our tasting, all was well. But temper your expectations if you are a winery-hopper like me. (If I was feeling more generous, I would give another star just for all the puppers roaming about....but really, 3 stars is where its at.)

It was actually really good for drip coffee. I didn't mention it at the cafe, but on the menu, the coffee is $2.95 but when she rang them up it came out to about $7 a drink. Not sure where the discrepancy was there. A sink was also not working properly so it took about 20 minutes to get our drinks. Because of our wait time, she let us have 30 free minutes with the cats. That was really kind! (We still donated money for the cause). The cats were all new to the room except for one. Some of the cats didn't really get along well with each other, but it was an overall good experience. I would love to come back some time!

Food/Drink: For starters, I got there after the main kitchen closed so they only had fried food. It was pretty late, I didn't even expect them to have any food. I just had fries, and they were good. I didn't have any alcohol, because I no longer drink, but it sounded like unreasonably cheap prices for the most part, at least compared to where I'm from. They also have cans of soda, which is my preferred style. The menu isn't huge but I'd also prefer that over overwhelming. They have plenty for everyone. It is 21+ at all times. Pool: The 7 foot tables were in pretty good shape, definitely better than the average bar table for sure. I didn't get a chance to play on it because others were using it, but they just got a brand new 9 foot table with an awesome, square, huge LED light for the top of it! They also hold tournaments pretty often, so it would be a good place to play for a long time, one day, without having to commit to a league of any sort. Service/Atmosphere: It's small, what some might consider a dive bar, but I think it can be so much more! I say that because the service was phenomenal. The bartender was so sweet and funny and honest and kind. I needed it that night, so I am truly grateful. All of the folks that were in there were also really nice as well, which to me, speaks of how the business is run and the people that they attract to their business. I'll be back if for nothing else than to say hello if I don't have time to play, but only if I'm passing through the town of course, it's a couple hours away from home. P.S. (nothing to do with this review) Yelp, I don't know if you actually read these but for some reason when I put a "." the next letter after the space doesn't capitalize. Not a huge deal, but I like for my reviews to be as grammatically correct as I know how, and having to go back to correct those is just a little tedious. This is the only app that it happens, so I was just curious if anyone else had the problem as well. I'm on an iPhone 14 ProMax if that makes a difference.

I told the bartender about my experience at Bar Louis and he laughed saying he'd never be caught dead at chain bar paying $6.50 a drink. Definitely not a place to roll in solo unless you're a pool player. Definitely felt out of place, I felt that way driving through the neighborhood it takes to get here. But it's a cool place if you're in to local dives and you play pool.
