Top notch organization headed by former pro boxer "Sir" Cerresso Fort. I highly recommend this wonderful, community-focused gym.

I always see the staff clean or stock up the paper towels and spray bottles. However a few times I've seen the filter water fountain out of order... sometimes for extended time periods. So far I haven't seen that happened in awhile. Water from the fountain doesn't bother me. Would like to see more trainers and the 360 circuit available here at this location too! I've seen it at two other locations (Roseville and Sunray.)

Today I was threaten by the trainer that he would jump over the counter and kick my ass. I said try it. This New Manager Ray didn't correct his behavior and allow him to speak to me in a disrespectfulness manner. I was not given a warning about my canceled on February 13th. I was just told today as I was checking in. It all started when Addren the old Manager was fired for using the word Nigger! This happens to be this Addrens girl friend. She always has asked for my telephone number to get a tan. Other white girls would never be asked for there telephone numbers to check for a tan she would say room 5 or 6 go ahead. She world pick on a other staff name Hanna she told me everything that was going on. Treating her bad like if she didn't pass a test that Hanna would take the staff laugh at her and make fun of her. Keep in mind Ray and Addie was part of this. Now that Ray is the manager he took it in his hand to rehire Addie that is why a special needs person left her job! Now my membership gets canceled for writing up the same staff that uses the word NIgger. That is wrong and I will hire a lawyer to file a class action law suit. On Ray and,the trainer for threatening me to kick my ass.Addie and this ower! I been single out as a person of color! And will follow up with a lawer.

I started at Farrell's (FXB) because I was getting depressed at the end of the second Covid winter…read more Thank goodness I did! I've lost so much fat (and gained so much muscle!) There's a 10-week challenge to see who got strongest/lost most weight, and a party at the end, and when my wife and I went, she was so impressed by the changes everyone had made that she joined, too! I've had THREE other friends join since then, and we bought a year's subscription for our employee. It's so easy to make friends there because everyone is going through such an intense experience. The joke is, "No one joins an aerobic kickboxing gym because everything is going perfectly in their life". :-) The other saying I hear is, "People join for the aerobic kickboxing, but stay for the weightlifting." Man, I never ever thought I'd be into weightlifting, but getting strong and gaining muscle (even though I'm in my 50s!) is amazing! The people here are so diverse...gay, straight, trans...no-religion, Muslim, Christian...people in their 20s and people in their 70s(!) I made more friends here in one year than I've made in the 20 years I've lived in St Paul. What a supportive community. It's all group classes, with an instructor and fun music, and it alternates between aerobic kickboxing days (using a bag, not going against another person), and weightlifting days. I had never done either before...and now I love them both! Definitely recommend FXB on Selby Avenue! :-)

I had never done an Orangetheory class before- I had never even been inside of one. (I thought the glass was orange, but when I got the studio tour, I realized the glass was clear, but all of the lights inside are orange). They loaned me a HR monitor and made sure I was comfortable on the rower and the treadmill before the class started. We didn't quite need the 30 minute pre-session block, but I can see how people with more questions might have used close to the entire thing. I got a good workout: I started on the rower, then moved to weights, then ended on the treadmill. The instructor was awesome, and I definitely got a good workout (the "orange zone" for which the business is named). I wish the weights section had been a little longer, but I was told they have different classes that focus on different sections instead of squeezing all 3 into an hour if you are looking for something more focused. The hardest part of the class for me was learning to use all of the buttons. Each machine syncs to your heartrate monitor, and a lot of the efforts are timed and designed to be at particular difficulties. By the end of class, I had gotten the hang of it. The instructor reviewed my chart with me (every person has one with your workout metrics, like average heart rate, calories, and time spent in each heart rate zone). They also send an email summary of the information, so you don't have to write anything down. I would totally go to another class, but I don't think I could use it as my only gym membership (I need at least a few heavy weights days). The only downside is the high cost, and the fact that you have to go when a class is in session. They have class packages you can buy, and even a membership level that rounds out to about $15/class, so that's not bad if you can manage to go once a week. I would definitely recommend giving it a try, no matter what your level of fitness! (the first class is free!)
