Rodriga messed up our order, seemed inconvenienced when we asked her to fix it, she basically refused, and when we asked to speak to a manager, Leslie (standards must be very low to hire her as management), instead of fixing the issues, starts telling me about how the process works, and how my assistant may have offended Rodriga by raising her voice (highly unlikely) etc. And ultimately, we had to threaten to sue to get them to fix the issue. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. We did, found 2 places with lower prices, and outstanding service. read more

I have been painting rocks for a number of years now, and Sislers is my place to go to find what I'm looking for. I love how our car is weighed when we pull in, and after we choose rocks and place them in the car, it is weighed again and we pay by the pound. Yesterday I went for some bags of small rocks, and while I was walking around, I found a pallet of pieces shaped like books. I took one, and was told it is sold as part of a small pallet, so I took it inside to ask about it. The lovely man inside did tell me that it was part of a pallet, but when I mentioned that I wanted to paint it as a book, he paused and then said, "You can have it." I should have waited to write this till I finish the piece, but I decided to write now to show how I appreciate his kindness. I will take a photo when I do complete it and sent it. Thank you Sislers. Just got back from Sislers Generally like the place - it's a neighborhood fixture. This trip I wanted just 10 bags of 57 bluestone gravel advertised as "50 lb heat-sealed bags". Thought some were light, so I weighed one when I got home and it was only 37 lbs. Returned to Sislers and was given two extra bags for my troubles. Thought this was fair enough, but I double-checked their weight when I got home: one was 40.0 lbs and the other 40.4. Looks to me like their bagging machine needs recalibration (which I suggested to the store when I was there). Either that or they have deliberately set the machine to underfill the bags. Either way, the bags may be consistently at least 20% under the advertised weight, which is not good. My suggestion - take a scale, order bulk loose gravel instead or shop somewhere else. read more

Do you like waiting for 20 minutes before you have to flag someone to tell you you are waiting in the wrong place? Do you like having loaders box you in while they finally load your purchase into your vehicle, with no awareness that you would like to actually leave their store at some point? Well then, I have the PERFECT place for you! Seriously, get your stones from literally anywhere else. This place is 2 minutes from my house and I'd drive at least 30 minutes to avoid having to go back. read more

I had a great experience with Sisler at first... their associate, Zack, was helpful in directing me to what I would need and their team on the lot was great about getting me the actual product. Having never purchased anything like this before, I was impressed with how helpful the team was. Then... this happened: I had bought a box of stone that is sold by the pallet. When I bought the stone, a kind and helpful team member took great care to load the stones off the pallet into my car. Soon after, we wanted to return the stones two weeks later as our home project changed (well within the 30 day window) and had the receipt and documentation. However, they said we could not return the stones without a pallet... despite the fact that it was their team member who took the stones off the pallet and loaded them into our car. Taking the pallet was never an option. (Side note: I thought this was a bit odd... as I then had to remove each stone one by one from my car which was inconvenient, but I have never made a purchase like this before. I assumed this must be standard practice). No one had ever mentioned a pallet being necessary for a possible return. So in the end, they made a small mistake by not giving me the stones on the pallet (when I spoke with a supervisor, I was told that it is company policy that are supposed to give the pallets out), and still they would not make an exception to the policy and refused to accept a return. This is upsetting customer service and very shortsighted. Instead of refunding me the $215 for the rocks (minus a 15% restocking fee that is listed in their return policy and I would have gladly paid), they have lost a nearby customer with a new home that needs lots of work. Unless anything changes, I certainly will recommend to all friends (and readers here!) that they avoid Sisler's. Management made a conscious choice to refuse a return due to conditions created entirely by their own error. We weren't asking for any special treatment at all, we simply wanted to return the exact product we were given in the exact condition it was sold to us. Should they decide to make this right, I will gladly update this review to reflect what they decide. read more

They are terrible. Take forever to answer their phone, I'm a contractor and I deal with other suppliers like Irwin's and Tri state who answer their phones. The people who answer here don't even have knowledge of materials they have to take your info amd have someone call you back. Is this a joke. My husband and I stopped into Sislers Stone a few weeks ago to discuss ordering some product through them. They were very helpful and made the ordering process very easy. THEN....the delivery. My husband went in, placed the order, and discussed delivery date. We were later contacted to confirm a delivery date. The day of the delivery, my husband called to confirm the time. We had asked for the product to be delivered between 10am-12pm. We were initially told that this was do-able. During the phone call on the day it was to be delivered, we were told they could not confirm a time but that it would be delivered some time during that day. OK fine. Not as convenient but we had nothing else to do. THEN we were called back to say that it would not be delivered AT ALL on the agreed-upon date because they messed up. They instead asked if they could deliver it 2 days later - during the week. Now - we specifically put off a family event this weekend to stay here for this delivery. Both my husband and I work therefore the week is not a convenient time. When my husband asked if we could schedule it for a 2-hour delivery time during the week (because, again, we both work) we were told NO because they already had other deliveries scheduled!!!! There was absolutely no assistance in trying to be more flexible - nothing! Great people face-to-face when selling you something but not so helpful when delivering after they have your money. Truly upset by their poor customer service. read more

Sisler sold be one inch premium stone. After inspection at my home, with my contractors waiting to lay it, much of it was barely 1/2" and clearly not premium. Sadly, when I brought it to the service desk the answer I got was a shrug of the shoulders. Buyer beware. I'll never use these amateurs again. read more

I needed some flagstone for a new fireplace hearth we're building. Sisler's had the specific thickness (1") for the size (24" x 6') that we needed. I went to 2 other stoneyards and they couldn't provide such a large piece in a 1" thickness. Sisler's custom ordered the piece for me and a arrived in a week or so. Unfortunately the first price was cracked. They were really honest and told me as soon as they noticed and ordered a replacement for me. I was sitting in the hair salon chatting about our search for someone who could replace our rotting deck with a modern stone patio. The woman in the chair next to me suggested I stop by Sislers and see who they recommended for a job of our size and complexity. Long story short, I drove out to Falls Church and within 10 minutes had business cards for five companies they worked with. A month or so later later I had a gorgeous new patio and stone steps that are the envy of the neighborhood. I walked into the store a couple of weeks ago and observed the salespeople and how they interacted, while I browsed. Kyle quickly stood out as a salesperson who was knowledgeable, not pushy, thoughtful, perceptive, and had the ability to make decisions. He was thoughtful towards an elderly man whom he didn't charge an additional ~$2 for a bucket or something. Its the small things like that that count. I approached and Kyle was again very thorough and had all the answers. He gave me the opportunity to go home and take accurate measurements and think through the purchase, before calling in an order. He never hassled me. I made sure I called back in when he was working and placed the order through him. Delivery as fast and efficient. There was a slight billing issue that Kyle corrected promptly. I've been doing business with Sislers Stone for about 10 years. I am shocked by Tims' comments. Do I hear a little bigoted undertone? I have received nothing but the best service there. Kyle is my usual "go to" guy. He is very knowledgeable about the products and has gone out of his way to see that we receive our materials on time and for a great price. Rodrigua (the office manager) has also helped me many times. She is an absolute professional and pays attention to every detail. Seebert has made most of my deliverys. He is able to snake his way into tight corners to get our product on site where we need it. He has made suggestions about placement that saved us time and money. If you need something that is not in the yard, the team will try to locate it for you. This is a family owned business that goes well beyond what Home Depot (Really? For some reason we just love Sislers Stone! We came today to get 4 flagstones to use as stepping stones into our back yard. It was great getting to look at all the stones to pick out the most interesting flagstones. Originally we were going to just get some concrete fake stones from Home Depot but then remembered Sislers. I've driven along Lee Highway scores of times over forty-plus years and never noticed Sislers. I had trouble finding Sislers when they actually were my destination, but the discovery was well worth the search! (Hint: they're on the south side of the highway.) The office is full of eager and knowledgeable staffers with a wide variety of construction materials to recommend for whatever your project. It's a do-it-your-self delight but also is patronized by contractors, which leads to a second hint: Sislers is very congested with contractor vehicles loading when they open for business. read more

They refuse to re-deliver even with other projects in the vicinity. Go with anyone else in the area and ovoid the hassle. they have no unique products. Once upon a time a very customer friendly business but not anymore. Employees behind the counter mainly talk between themselves, play with their cellphones, while the customer waits. If you have any questions or answers, they always try to talk over you as well. I guess you can't expect much from mostly immigrant, uneducated, and by the hour employees. Avoid this place if possible since there are other places with better prices such as Home Depot or quality such as Merrifield Garden Center that really have knowlegeable employees. Customer service here is poor. Just received information posted on Facebook from a male employee of Sislers stating that the employees do ignore or make customers wait if they do not like your appearance. This just continues to prove that the place is not what it used to be and this employee sounds like a true clown. Avoid this place if possible since customers are not appreciated. For the employee that showed his ignorance on Facebook, Go buy a red rubber nose and some white makeup. Ringling Brothers is close by in Vienna. Their phone number is 703 448 4000. What a fantastic, service-oriented place this is! We just completed (with a lot of help and a lot of gravel and sand from Sislers) a 400 square foot paver patio for an Eagle Project in McLean. Their technical advice was first-rate. Kyle gave us the basics, with sketches and estimated volumes at the store. That was great in itself. But then we learned about Kent -- their "best kept secret." Kent D is their technical advisor. He visits work sites and provides technical advice, measures things, and confirms the volume of material to be provided. We were thrilled that he came to the site before we finalized our order. We couldn't believe it when he came a second time (a few weeks later) to answer questions and estimate additional material needs. Just when we were about to finish (and in most need of technical advice), he made an incredible third trip! And we can't forget Brian -- who is a busy guy but who somehow manages to find time to help out fellow Eagle Scouts. Sislers is located right in the center of Falls Church, which is really, really convenient. You'd be foolish to get gravel, sand, stone, pebbles, pavers, slate, or associated products anywhere else.
