In the mist of the COVID pandemic, plants have become a thing. Houseplants, especially the exotic and rare varieties, can cost a pretty penny. Greenstreet Gardens is one of the few plant shops I physically visit for my gardening needs. Staffs are friendly and knowledgeable, and they carry some of the more common cultivars of Alocasia, Ficus, Philodendron and other Aroids. If you know, you know. As with most nurseries, the indoor tropical plants and succulents are displayed inside the vicinity. There's a small greenhouse across the main building where you can find some of the larger indoor plants. Outdoor in the back, you can find annuals and other seasonal plants. In the summer, they occasionally have succulents out in the back as well. FYI-- If you're loyal a plant parent, who tends to frequently shop for plant supplies, make a rewards card! read more

Greenstreet Gardens is a good, local nursery serving the DMV. One of the smaller nurseries I frequent in the area, Greenstreet operates year-round. They have a good selection of plants, however, as a smaller garden the selection of larger plants is not vast. In fact, it seems that aside from their young trees, their focus is on smaller plants which makes sense due to the limited space. I do appreciate that they offer young trees and have a good selection of hydrangeas in the spring. They have a good selection of hydrangea trees. The customer service is generally OK. Overall a good experience and I will continue to visit. read more

I appreciate the knowledge of the staff but today I was there asking for advice on the care of my crepe myrtle and it was suggested that I buy tree & shrub protect and feed by Bioadvanced. 32 oz container for $49 (unfortunately I did not look at the price until all my items were rung up). Anyway got home and looked and Ace, Home Depot and Lowes all sell it for $26 or less- a $20 markup seems quite steep to me! read more

I popped in here to "just look". My sister has me on a plant kick and now I'm trying harder than ever to grow food we can eat even if it seems close to the end of the planting season. I'm just going to see what happens. I had been looking for some peas or sugar snap peas as well as lettuce varieties but most of the big box stores were pretty low on vegetables or they just weren't in good shape. I also needed compost. This place had both of my needs. I ended up with a box of six veggies and herbs. They turned out to only be $1.33 each and I was flabbergasted. Like wow! So cheap! Maybe it was a july 4th sale or something but I felt like it was a sign. I almost bought more but my care was already full of other home improvement items. I did get two kinds of compost though to help some of my veggies out. There was such a variety of other plants as well as fruits and herbs and veggies. I will admit though that some seemed like they were exposed to the sun too long but I think the heat and bright sun of this year has been hard on all plants and even us humans. So that is no fault of the nursery. The lady at the checkout was really helpful too because I thought they only had one type of compost and she found that they had 3-4 and explaine the differences so that I picked the right one for me. The nursery helpers were cool too because they helped load the compost into my car. So needless to say I'll be back. Great prices, decent selection, and genuine people. read more

In Arlington's Fairlington, Greenstreet Gardens is a family-owned massive garden center. My house went on a Sunday morning to pick up plants and a fig tree for our yard. You can easily spend hours here scanning the rows and rows of plants, trees, herbs and flowers. A few things to note: 1) Service: They have plenty of staff roaming the center so it's easy to get the help you need. 2) Selection: You can find almost anything you need for a landscaping and garden project. I LOVE Greenstreet Gardens! Like many folks, I decided to work on my green thumb (aka black-thumb in the Before Times) in the past few months. We've been neglecting our balcony, but with all the time spent inside Covid-quarantining, it was perfect time to change it! Greenstreet Gardens is gigantic and its inventory is quite impressive. The first time I went, I was actually quite overwhelmed because I didn't know what I was doing. However, there were plenty of staff around to offer help. Additionally, the staff who fields email questions are really helpful, too. I've corresponded with them a few times regarding my plants and flowers, and they've been so responsive. One caveat is that it's really popular so you might have to check with the store if you are searching for a particular herb as things sell out fast. I'm very proud of my balcony garden now, and we've been cooking a ton with the herbs directly from the garden. Highly recommend! read more

The inventory at Greenstreet is amazing. I've been looking for a fairly affordable monstera plan for months now and couldn't find anything that's less than $80. Luckily, I saw someone post about Greenstreet on Instagram so I looked on their page and they just happen to have so many kinds of plants with very affordable prices! I got my medium size monstera for $40 and I got a few other things there as well. I bought a dwarf banana plant, Thai chili plant, artichoke plant, lavender plant, peppermint plant, and basil plant. I've also bought pots and potting soil there. I really enjoyed their selection, parking is easy and it's very spacious that it's not very hard to practice social distancing. Many people come to buy plants since the weather has been nice and people are working on their yards and laws, but the inventory never gets low! They always restock. The next time I came, they had more monstera - I had to hold myself back from buying another one. Since buying my plants 2 weeks ago, they've all survived and grown. My monstera has 2 new leaves unraveling and 3 new leaves sprouting up! I am usually so bad at plant care and I manage to somehow kill my plants - idk what it is but the plants from Greenstreet survive with my care. I also like supporting small businesses instead of big places like Home Depot where it's really hard to social distance. Customers wear masks, gloves and social distance at Greenstreet including the staff so it's pretty safe to roam around. Register is outside when it's not raining and there's hand sanitizers everywhere! They even reserved my monstera plant for me when I inquired and they shipped it from their MD store to the VA store - how considerate of them! Greenstreet Gardens is the perfect local gardening spot. They have an incredible inventory, and their staff really knows their stuff!

An excellent cat named Rue seems to live in the greenhouse. Made the trip worth it, 10/10. Also, they have *everything*.

The nursery has nice verity of plants and flowers but they are expensive. I prefer Home Depot and other nurseries because this one's prices is on the higher end. read more

Greenstreet Gardens literally has everything you need to jump start your green thumb and to be a great plant parent. The collection of greenery here is expansive. They have every tree, plant, herb that you need or want. The staff is so helpful. If you buy a plant and have any questions they give you a number to call their experts. I've been looking for an olive tree and I was able to get one here and I also picked up a lemon tree because why not...and fresh lemons! I spoke to one of the experts that were there and they gave me great advice on caring for my new trees. If I ever need any more greenery this is the place I'll come back to you. read more

Very nice nursery with a very kind staff. The associates on site were very knowledgeable and seemed to know what they were doing as far as taking care of plants goes. They have a very wide selection ranging from flowers to plants to trees. Very wide variety of succulents. They also have some great pots and plant care products. However, the two plants that we have bought from them were sick and were suffering from either a bug infestation or rotten soil. It's a good thing my girlfriend has a green thumb or else both of the plants would have died. The succulent died, that is the one with the bug infestation. But the Corn plant was salvageable. The corn plant lost one of its husks and was on the verge of losing all three but my girlfriend removed the potting soil and re-potted it. The process of finding out what was wrong was challenging. We called the place and they told us they sold healthy plants and we were the problem. Not to mention that there are no refunds. Hard to believe that was the problem after both plants started dwindling after only a day in our care. The succulent had gnats and other strange insects all over the soil and the stems of the plant. It was not in good health. The corn plant started developing a white mold on the top layer of soil. We had to spray it with a hydrogen peroxide mix and re-pot it. The already $50 plant now costs nearly $80 with all the new materials. The smallest stock died and the leaves on the other two nearly rotted off. I would have been more accepting of these things if Green Streat Gardens at the very least would have owned up to their mistakes and selling us sick plants. Never going here again. Your plants are overpriced and sickly. Your staff was useless over the phone and your no-refund policy is absurd considering you're just fencing off problems. Home Depot seems like a better alternative for me! read more

Came here looking for houseplants. I found a fair selection of typical plants. They did have a few cool rarer plants but they were too over priced. I'm not from the DC area so maybe this is Normal pricing but it was too steep for what I've seen. Bought an air plant for 20 only to find it at lowes for 4 dollars less. Same quality and size. Extremely unhelpful. Went in looking for soil for a couple of plants. I need to repot some and they are just regular low maintenance houseplants. The person that I asked listed a bunch of soils quickly without even offering to show me where they located. She also cut me off when I told her one had root rot. She named a bunch of items I could buy but like I said didn't show me where the items were located or what they looked like. I didn't know about any if the items she name and then she looked at me like, bye.... I ended up leaving without buying anything. Went to Home Depot and got better help. read more

Bought a rosemary topiary here, and it is awesome and still kicking strong! In talking to one of the workers, I pondered out loud how cool it would be if my rosemary topiary had a lavender topiary counterpart. She said that can be ordered if I wanted. I didn't take this option, but a note to those who don't see what they are looking for -- it is possible that it can be ordered for you. Overall, I like this nursery. It's sprawling, it's comfortable, and everyone is pleasant and willing to help and give advice if asked. I wish I had all the monies to buy all the plants! read more

After selling my plants for our move across the continent, I was equally anxious and nervous to get some new plant babies for our new place. After doing some research, I came across Greenstreet and paid them a visit! First thing to note is that there was ample parking! I think that's a huge plus considering no one wants to be lugging around an arm pull of plants in July heat. Next, their selection is fantastic! The layout is pretty self explanatory with rooms/designated areas for specific genres of plants. Lastly, their staff. Every single employee that we ran into was so helpful and accommodating. They shared their shipment information - just incase we didn't find what we were looking for, we could come back. None of them assumed our knowledge level of the plants either; they offered helpful hints never making us feel uneducated or silly. HOWEVER, as a person of color the cashier Lori did not meet us with the same warmth she gave another customer a minute after we entered. She found it really hard for her to greet us. I used to live down the street and pass by here daily on the way to work and never even knew this oasis existed. From the road, the nursery looks small and unassuming, but don't let first impressions fool you! Once I parked and walked in past the chain link fence, I was transported to what felt like a secret garden. I could have spent hours perusing the rows of beautiful greenery and flowers, but I had to focus all of my will power to the task at hand - finding a plant(s) worthy of a house warming gift. This was not easy as they had pretty much every trending houseplant in stock. After an hour (perhaps longer...) of hemming and hawing, I left satisfied with a gorgeous fiddle leaf and monstera deliciosa for my friend's new abode. Nice selection of plants, water features, flower pots, etc, but unfortunately it was pretty impossible to find the pricing on most things which becomes annoying after a while. Considering one of the only price tags I saw was for $647 for a spiral tree (I'm assuming including pot), but very expensive nonetheless, I didn't want to take a chance buying something not knowing he price! There is a separate area in the back for mulch (we didn't know until we drove off). I'll have to come back when I have more time and patience to ask pricing for each thing. read more

Purchased a few plants and planters from here a month ago. One of them had an issue with spider mites that we purchased. I am not sure if the plant had it at the time or purchase or it made its way into our apartment. At the time I wasn't sure what they were until I spoke with Tim. He was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful with resolving this issue. If you are looking to start a garden outside or in a sun room this is the place to go. Their prices are fair and they have a great selection. You will stumble upon things that the internet or your local Home Depot doesn't have. Highly recommended! read more

Went on the bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on March 5th! This was my second time taking the Greenstreet Gardens bus to the show, and I can't recommend it highly enough. No worries about parking --- you can just sit back and relax and catch up with friends. Tim and Ana did a great job communicating at departure time from Philly, assuring everyone was present. It's a large venue and has multiple exits. Everything really went quite smoothly, considering various logistical challenges. The snack bags provided for our trip home were generous and had a variety of items to hopefully please everyone. Stopped inside for a few indoor plants and from what I could see, the outdoor selection was pretty impressive. Organized inside and out, and all the plants & flowers looked very healthy. A little overpriced in my opinion; lacking variety with plant pots - at least inside. Friendly enough service but when the cashier asked if I had a frequent buyers membership, I said no (first time there) and she didn't offer to set me up. Really?! I will likely stop back again but only out of convenience. I've been to many nurseries in the general area and this definitely didn't get to the top of my list. read more

Purchased an inexpensive bonsai starter $14.99 on a Tuesday planting was slightly moist so simply placed on a counter in my den, couple days later I found a Beautiful small blue ceramic planter on Amazon next day $10.00, went back to my planting on Saturday discovered it had lost 75% of its leaves and was clearly dead returned to greenstreet on Monday 6 days after purchase asking for a refund was offered a 20% reduction on future purchase, that's fine I'm out $14.99 greenstreet is out of any future purchases from me or my husband I guess they taught me a lesson lol, I mean really $14.99 even Amazon and home depot and Loews all guarantee satisfaction read more
