Sissel's (like Sissel herself) is a treasure! I'd almost missed it when in town - I mean, you can't throw a rock without hitting a silver jewelry store in Sante Fe, but I'm so glad I stopped in after breakfast at Tia Sophias. I will tell you no one had the selection and the service that Sissel offered. She was so kind and helped me find the exact pair of earrings I'd been wanting - something silver and a little more modern but still using the beautiful native turquoise. You might be surprised to meet a Norwegian-run business like this in NM, but after all her years in the States and running this business, she's a pro and unbelievably kind and helpful. Wow! We have been buying turquoise and silver jewelry for 20 years and this store is one of the best we have ever visited. The selection is incredible. Sissel is so knowledgeable and offered personal service to help us find the perfect pieces. We ended up buying a bracelet and ring and the price was very reasonable. My wife and I are visiting Santa Fe for the first time and went to Sissel's on a recommendation from someone at our hotel. Unfortunately I have to say that it was an all together horrible experience. I'm not going into a blow by blow account of what happened but I will say that it's completely inappropriate for a store proprietor to ask customers how they feel about the recent presidential election. When I politely tried to skirt the issue she just kept asking questions and wanted to debate the merits of the outcome. All of this while also communicating to us that she was from Norway and didn't have voting rights yet. Needless to say that she lost our business and we will never recommend this place to anyone. Sissel's is an amazing Native American store in Santa Fe! I was fascinated at the quantity and quality of her extensive collection. We visited many stores in Santa Fe. Our friend in Texas recommended we stop in to visit this store as she has a home here and has shopped at Sissel's for 30+ years. We had been looking for some rings for my honey, for days. While we did see some very nice items at the more exclusive shops on the plaza, they were extremely overpriced. In a few stores, we even had strong suspicion items were not authentic. The moment we walked into Sissel's, we felt comfortable we were in the right place. We spent at least an hour looking at items. While the store was very busy, Sissel was extremely accommodating and friendly and gave us the right amount of attention since we were looking at 5-7 trays of rings at a time. While we were shopping, a man came in to purchase a bracelet for himself. He had been to every shop in the past 24 hours and came back and purchased 2 beautiful men's bracelets. He said that Sissel's was by far the best shop in Santa Fe. We feel the same way. With out a doubt, before you shop at any stores in the plaza, walk into Sissel's. I was Almost speechless. I can not tell you how terrific her pieces are. There are gorgeous items in all price ranges. It was so difficult to decide what to choose. Sissel's is a Santa Fe treasure! The selection of Native American jewelry is second to none. Vintage and new; color-coordinated. When you first walk in the store you'll be awestruck by the quantity and quality of pieces because it's unlike anything you'll see in Santa Fe if anywhere. I know I hadn't seen anything like it. I went back several times just to take everything in. I visited all of the other stores in town (and Taos), and it all started looking the same. Sissel's isn't like that; you'll see something and say "That's it!". I ended up purchasing two men's cuffs and a vintage belt buckle. And Sissel herself is worth getting to know! My husband was looking for a sterling money clip with turquoise. We stopped in almost every Native American jewelry store within walking distance of the Plaza. Some stores had a few, many had none. Sissel's was our last stop as we headed back to our hotel. Sissel had not one, but two trays(!!) of money clips featuring a variety of styles created by different artists with and without stones. She was very knowledgeable about the designs and symbolism and spent a good deal of time with us. My husband had a tough time deciding which one to purchase, and I ended up buying a beautiful sterling belt buckle and tip set along with a nice leather belt, which Sissel assembled on the spot Sissel has a phenomenal selection of Native American made items, not just jewelry. My story with Sissel is one that goes from Sept 2018 to Jan 18, 2019 and in case you don't want to read it just know that she is super HONEST, KNOWLEDGABLE and CUSTOMER CENTRIC and has one of the largest selections of quality jewelry in Santa Fe. I was in Santa Fe on holiday and found a silver cuff bracelet that I loved at a jewelry store in the main square in town. It was gorgeous but pricey but the designer/maker was in the store at the time which made it that much more attractive. I continued shopping around the town because it was a big decision to make and happened to pop into Sissel's store which was just up the road from my hotel. I found the same bracelet and Sissel was so personable and engaging and offered a slightly discounted price so I purchased the cuff. I wore it that evening and realized that it was too big so the next day went into Sissel's again to discuss. We decided that she would wait until the designer came in with more sizes and she would mail it to me. That's where the fun began. Sissel and I mailed the cuff back and forth 4 times trying to get the fit right. The cuff is difficult to fit because it has to mirror the exact shape of your wrist, not just the circumference of your wrist. I just received the 4th version and it fits like a glove and is absolutely stunning. I can't think of another person who would have stuck it out with me trying to get the right fit. Sissel didn't charge for all her mailing back to me either. Thanks Sissel - I really really appreciate your efforts. read more

Visited Santa Fe for the first time. Loved the shop, but soon learned the selection is cookie cutter and every shop had the same thing. The prices from all shops were all over the place for same pieces. I ended up buying a necklace (just strands of silver, nothing fancy) and I paid $140. Unfortunately the same piece was down the street for the exact same piece was $68. Exact...I did the comparison. I'm so glad I didn't invest in a squash blossom necklace she had bc the same necklace was in 3 other locations, plus just saw it in Tortilla Flats, AZ. The price at Sissel's was over $900. more for the exact same item. I feel taken by what I bought, but then again I'm the one who fell for it. Won't make that mistake again. read more
