Despite what the incredibly naive passerby (myself) may assume from seeing the C-word (Christ) on the edifice of a store, let me reassure you that the good people at Sisters in Christ are not trying to proselytize or otherwise convert you to any kind of religion - apart maybe from an interest in vinyl records. I stopped by on my way to a meeting earlier today, and was immediately impressed by the collection of vinyl records that they had in their store - all genres, big names and indie bands, and a particularly interesting section for local New Orleans music. I browsed through these for a few minutes before turning to their collection of books along the wall, which was well-stocked with editions of all the classics - To Kill a Mockingbird, Picture of Dorian Gray, and seemingly every copy of Chomsky that some dude bought, never read, then ditched at the nearest book-selling establishment. Interspersed with these were smaller selections of books covering topics of feminism, LGBTQ+ and queer studies, race, socioeconomic inequality and intersectional combinations of the aforementioned - a curatorial choice that I really appreciated, in addition to the willingness of the shop to center these books on their shelves, make them accessible and - importantly - make them affordable. They also had a great selection of well-designed merchandise, including t-shirts and 5-buck tote bags. I ended up buying three editions from the 1960s-1980s -' The Time Machine, Dracula and the Brave New World - for a tidy $8 before heading out. Despite not having a record player, I'll likely be back to browse their collection more thoroughly - and will certainly be back to pick up more books. I'd recommend this place to anyone, despite their affinities or affiliations, and would bring my friends here if we ever found ourselves back in this area of Magazine. I also got a sticker with my purchase! pretty cool.

Happened to pass by this afternoon while on my way to lunch. Found some really good 70's and 80's hard rock vinyl for very reasonable prices in the recent arrivals used section.

Great local hole in the wall vinyl shop that specializes in metal and more experimental stuff, as well as some local bands and labels.

I usually don't visit record stores, but thought I'd visit this one while I was on Magazine street…read more Glad I did. It's ginormous. Leave your backpacks at the front door. They sell more than records. They sell everything music related, aside from the CD's, tapes, and videos. It's an experience. Aisles and aisles. I first walked around the vinyl. New releases are in the forefront. They are organized by category and location. New Orleans artists have a section dedicated all their own. There's an entire T-shirt section and children's section. Toys and games. It's the ultimate gift shop. There's a stage in the back where bands perform. A small brown piano can also be found there. My favorite is the old school ice cream counter with connected stools currently used to display record players and colorful paintings of famous musicians. Great spot for a selfie. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I was greeted at the door.

Peaches records is this great, old school, record shop located on Magazine Street. The moment you…read morewalk into it, it feels like you've gone into a record store from times gone past. I know, cause I've been around since the times gone past, and this business truly reminds me of the record stores I used to love to go into back in the day. What they offer here is a great selection of both new and used vinyl. That's the main reason I believe you should go in there--for those of you looking for that great piece of vinyl: new or used. They also have an excellent selection of CDs, for those of you who want to listen to your music from that medium. One of the fun things about this shop is that they also have some listening stations, if you wanna hear some music before you buy it. That's always fun. Plus, they have a lot of other stuff: T-shirts, memorabilia, and a little bit of everything else that you never knew you needed. So, you never know what you'll find here. One of the very fun things about this business is that they have the remains of a fully functioning soda fountain. The machines are still there. The counter is still there. As are the spinning seats. It's just a great step back to the past. Just one of those things if you want to grab a great selfie or a great photo for your IG, it's an excellent place to do it. Overall, this is a great place to get your music. It's a simple as that. It's one of those stores that you can go in there looking for something specific, and you know they will probably have it. Or, you can go in there just cruising the aisles, and you never know what you'll find. Overall, fun experience!
