Located in a brightly colored building on Frenchmen Street (corner of Frenchmen St. & Decatur St.), LMF is one of the longest running record stores in New Orleans. LMF definitely has an old-school record store vibe to it - minus the old musty smell and w/ the modern day comfort of ac. Trust me when I say that you'll for sure want to spend hours at this local NOLA gem, so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to visit. LMF has a huge inventory of vinyl records and cds (old and new - all genres, including a great assortment of local New Orleans music) that are neatly organized and reasonably priced. It also carries musical posters, books, and shirts. There is also a Yelp perk of getting $2 off a t-shirt when you check-in on Yelp. It's a small place, but the music selection can pack a punch for my interests. Be it nostalgia, but I liked the fact that I can thumb through the vinyl selection, like how many record store were back in the day. While sifting through, I saw a good bit a music that I listened to. Just by that aspect, it was enough to garner my interest and return to purchase selections that I can add to my musical collection. If you're looking for local music, Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, music from around the world, etc I think you should give this place a look.

The young man in charge that day said I should deal directly with the owner who would be on premises the next day. I came back with 9 of my cds & asked if the owner would consider a trade. He said that he did not usually engage in trades, but without hesitation he said sure and let me pick out 9 used cds for a straight trade. It took awhile to go through the shop's jumbled collection of used cds, but I ultimately succeeded. Overall a pleasant experience, although I will say that the vast majority of the used cds he had for me to choose from were not to my liking.

They sell more than records. They sell everything music related, aside from the CD's, tapes, and videos. It's an experience. Aisles and aisles. I first walked around the vinyl. New releases are in the forefront. They are organized by category and location. New Orleans artists have a section dedicated all their own. There's an entire T-shirt section and children's section. Toys and games. It's the ultimate gift shop. There's a stage in the back where bands perform. A small brown piano can also be found there. My favorite is the old school ice cream counter with connected stools currently used to display record players and colorful paintings of famous musicians. Great spot for a selfie. I know, cause I've been around since the times gone past, and this business truly reminds me of the record stores I used to love to go into back in the day. What they offer here is a great selection of both new and used vinyl. That's the main reason I believe you should go in there--for those of you looking for that great piece of vinyl: new or used. They also have an excellent selection of CDs, for those of you who want to listen to your music from that medium. One of the fun things about this shop is that they also have some listening stations, if you wanna hear some music before you buy it. That's always fun. Plus, they have a lot of other stuff: T-shirts, memorabilia, and a little bit of everything else that you never knew you needed. So, you never know what you'll find here. One of the very fun things about this business is that they have the remains of a fully functioning soda fountain. The machines are still there. The counter is still there. As are the spinning seats. It's just a great step back to the past. Just one of those things if you want to grab a great selfie or a great photo for your IG, it's an excellent place to do it. Overall, this is a great place to get your music. It's a simple as that. It's one of those stores that you can go in there looking for something specific, and you know they will probably have it. Most cds were $5 unless marked otherwise and vinyl were priced as marked. They even sell tie-dye shirts. The location itself isn't too large, but the space is completely filled with music. It was a great spot to rummage around and find that vinyl record I had been looking for. I found a couple items. Chatted briefly with the associated who did offer me help along the way. I'm in the area somewhat often so I'll definitely make sure to try to swing by here if I get a chance to see if there is anything here I can add to my collection.
