It was my first time attending this event at The Alameda and I totally recommend to take your time to talk to the artists. All of them are super approachable, passionate about their jobs and very didactic teaching or explaining their skills and talents. Park on the street as parking is very limited and also it is very pleasant to walk that beautiful alameda anyways. No cover to enter, and in most cases you can buy art on the spot if you would like it, or even give your email address for future classes by some of the artists.

We used food coloring, dye, cooking oil, and water to design a liquid image which was then displayed through a projector. It was a fairly simple but interesting process, definitely different than any other art activity I've ever done. Staff was helpful and patient while giving instructions, and they were very encouraging too. Local Color supports local artists, sharing their creative works with the community through programs, galleries, and public art displays, including one of my faves, the 100 Block Mural, a colorful mosaic celebrating diversity which can be viewed near the SJZ Break Room in SJ. Last week, I also had the pleasure of checking out Reels & Records at the Noble Workshop & Gallery, one of many art exhibits through which Local Color has had an influence. They work in collaboration with different organizations and events, and continue to support the art community and education in the arts. They've contributed to the beautification of San Jose and neighboring cities in the south bay, even without recognition at times. In fact, I'm not fully aware of the various projects in which they are involved, and have only come across their works or events by chance. Their old sign is still up outside an abandoned building on South First Street, but I don't think they have a dedicated space or gallery in which they can be found (as of February 2026). Their online presence is stronger, though not ideal for those who don't use Instagram. I do appreciate their mission and impact nonetheless.

Local Color always knows how to tap into the heart of the community. I stopped by for their "99…read moreBottles" project hosted by Fatima and Car--bringing together local artists to design their own unique bottles. The variety of styles and people represented just shows how strong and inclusive the San Jose art scene really is. Best time to pull up is during San Jose's First Friday. The whole area comes alive, and if you're already out, you're just a short walk from the energy at San Pedro Square too. Local Color isn't just a space--it's a foundation for diverse voices, creative strength, and real community building. I'm looking forward to seeing even more shows here--and getting even more involved myself.

I was a small business owner who rented a studio space for almost 4 years at Citadel. In 2017 I was…read moreevicted over a suppose visitor violation, but under law I was not given any official reason for contract termination which I believe should be illegal. The 'Office Managers' that issued me this eviction at the time were two women by the name of Jackie and Sally. They were both highly unprofessional and unqualified to manage the building and tenants. Since their employment, I had seen an increase in pest disturbance and security issues. In my specific unit there were bird and rat feces littered everywhere, despite both Sally and Jackie emailing the tenants saying they had hired pest control and were handling it. I believe I was evicted because during a phone call, I stated to Sally that her behavior towards me and the very few people I've allowed as guests in my unit, was unprofessional and inappropriate. I have witnessed and heard Sally verbally scream and threaten other tenants who were in compliance. I would not recommend renting a space at Citadel as long as Brown Associates is still allowing these women to be employed there.

We talked with several artists, and learned so much about each of them, as well as the glass blowing art itself. So much time and effort (not to mention talent) goes into creating these works. As one other YELPER says "good luck trying to leave without picking up at least one"... We left with a couple, and there were people with baskets full of their wonderful finds. The best part of this event, for me, is that I have some items that I know who created them, and a story behind them. So much more meaningful...

Quite a sight to see! Besides glass pumpkins, also stained glass works and glass vegetables and fruit are on exhibit and available for sale. Amid a rustic setting of hay bales, the event is free to the public. Proceeds benefit the Los Gatos High School and local glass artists. Always in October, I believe; for 2008 its Oct 4 and 5th.

This event…read morecompany recruited a bunch of amazing local builders who made some really cool creations including: - a Millenium Falcon movie-accurate and not from a kit - an entire superhero town - a 7-foot tall Multnomah Falls outside Portland - an aircraft carrier - a ton of bionicle creations, cool geometric forms, pop culture references, etc. There was also a ton of random junk on tables, but most was really cool. The event company, on the other hand, was not cool. They charge $17/person to enter (even little kids), accept CASH ONLY (tax avoidance??) and are super rude (with an extra dose of rude). In the 2 hours we were there, I was yelled at ("STAMPS!!!"), pushed out of the way so a guy could move a stanchion about 2 inches and aggressively told we couldn't exit the door we came in (so we would be forced to walk through the "vendor area" where they sell overpriced Lego products). When added to a budget busting $17/head, this place left a really bad taste in my mouth. In spite of some really cool builders, probably wouldn't do this again.

Awesome art and wine festival, with plenty of food, wine, art and merchandise vendors displaying a…read moreplethora of items to peruse. A great setup, spacious enough to accommodate a decent amount of people comfortably, mainly an adult crowd (I only saw a few kids in attendance throughout the day), and it just set the perfect vibe for me and my bf. We did a little bit of shopping, and listened to the awesome sounds of the musicians performing on stage (Johnny Neri Band, and the Houserockers) while dancing to hits like My Girl and Have You Ever Seen the Rain. We also had a couple glasses of wine, and enjoyed some treats from a few of the food trucks on site (Fresh Catch Poke, Road Dogs, Luv's Brownies) as we picnicked underneath the shade of beautiful trees. FYI, most food trucks left around 4:15pm, more than an hour before the event ended. But it was more than sufficient, a variety of choices for snacks and desserts (about 5 trucks total), never any long lines or waits. It was a well organized and lovely event and a perfect way to spend our Sunday afternoon.
