Katie was our dog Kaapi's trainer. She was very clear, consise and very enthusiastic with all her directions. She always took extra time and made sure we had no questions or wanted to work on specific items. The most impressive thing our dog learned was place, we can now open the front door and not worry! The training works both our neighbors are still commenting on how well he is doing. Our other dog Kaleva stood on the sidelines and watched each class and he too picked up on the training commands. This review is for the one on one training sessions only as this is the only service I have used so far. My 1 year old pug pulled like a champion dog sled when we started training. We worked with Katie one on one to learn how to heel as well as go to place. From day one Katie was knowledgeable and helpful, my dog responded to her very well. It was nice to train without treats and use positive reinforcement as his reward. I have had 2 labs trained at Sit Means Sit in Modesto and could not be happier with the results. My first lab was trained in 2018 so well that we returned with our second lab in 2026. Not only did our girls come back to us much better behaved, I could tell at pick up how much both of my dogs loved their trainers. We had our husky trained here and he came back as the most well behaved dog. This was in 2018 when they first came to Modesto and we did board and train. We have a new puppy and wanted to use them, but not the boarding part. It has been a nightmare. They aren't scheduling us or canceling what is scheduled. We have only had 2 successful trainings in 6 months. We paid for this and are not able to use the trainings. I'm beginning to get frustrated and switch to another training facility. I don't think the ownership switched so I'm not sure why there'd be such a decrease in service but it has honestly been miserable. I have referred people here but will no longer. read more

TERRIBLE Experience - UNFULFILLED Promises & POOR Communication!! All future customers be cautious when considering leaving their furry family members at this place! My 7 year old Yorkie, Audrey, was enrolled in their two-week board and train program, and unfortunately, it was far from the personalized training and constant communication I was promised during the sales process. I had already taken her to beginner and advanced training so all I was looking for was off leash training and distractions from critters. From the start, I was sold on the idea of "personalized" training tailored to Audrey's needs. Craig, the sales representative, assured me that I would receive "as many updates" as I wanted throughout the program. However, this was far from the reality. The communication from their end was severely lacking, leaving me feeling uncertain about Audrey's well-being. After numerous back & forth emails, I was informed that you will only get 4 updates and 1 video a week so if you are the type that would appreciate more, don't expect that here! I had to constantly reach out to get even the smallest updates, and when I did, it felt like I was bothering them rather than receiving the attention and care I was promised. I would get minimal text messages saying "she's going great" or "the trainer, Sierra, will be in tomorrow and you'll get an update then." Not very reassuring given the fact that she was dropped off on a Saturday and updates weren't given until Tuesday! I found myself talking to different trainers and Craig just to ensure everyone was aware of Audrey's training needs and progress, which only added to my frustration. When the trainer finally texted me, she mentioned the promised drop off date (July 4th) wouldn't work for her because she was going to be in a 'parade' and asked if I can pick her up from the facility 4 days later! The last thing I would want is to have to leave my dog in that facility for 4 more days, then have to pick her up when I was told she would be dropped off at my house. To make matters worse, during her stay, Audrey developed a limp in her leg from the trainer having her "place" on high boards when "place" wasn't supposed to be apart of her training. Having an 8 pound Yorkie jump on and off of place boards more than 3x her height is just ridiculous. Needless to say, I had to call other trainers to pull her out of the place immediately. After speaking with the owner Adam, he showed no sympathy and also refused to give a refund although he agreed poor communication and lack of training was at the fault of his staff. I agreed to the $3,500 with no budge or complaints, but I feel like I was just told what I wanted to hear to get my money. I had to file a complaint in order to get a refund!! The e-collar wasn't even given when she was picked up too. I find it funny how a refund or even partial credit wasn't given, but they still kept the shock collar. Even more disappointing was when she was picked up, Sit Means Sit did not notify or ask for a name of who would be picking her up. They simply willingly gave her to what would be anyone. Her nose was cracked and peeling, had diarrhea, was severely shaking and had a limp for about 3 weeks. I would NOT recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone seeking personalized and attentive training for their furry companions. The lack of communication, unfulfilled promises, and questionable care have left a lasting negative impression. If you truly care about the well-being of your beloved pet, I strongly advise looking elsewhere for a more reliable and trustworthy training facility. In my opinion, the experience with Sit Means Sit does not align with their marketing claims, and it has been a frustrating and stressful ordeal. I hope that my review will help future customers make an informed decision and avoid the disappointment and concerns I encountered. This is what happens when you have a franchise that anyone can own with little to no education or knowledge of how to care for animals. I highly recommend this place. They took my dog in for a full inclusive board and train 8 day session. They updated me everyday with texts and videos of his training. Answered all my questions swift and promptly. When we picked up him and did our hour long one-on-one session to train us the commands and how continue his training, they made sure that both my gf and I were fully grasping the training. We both left there fully impressed with their services and the result of our dog's training. I had questions about some issues he was having unrelated to training and they helped me figure out he has allergies. They suggested a recommended dose of Benadryl and his issues cleared right up. Their packages include lifetime one-on-one sessions and weekend group classes. Which we will be attending once the covid epidemic is over. We rescued our aussie/husky mix Max, May 2020 and decided to put him into Board and train due to leash pulling, not following commands, and needing guidance on training. Everyone has been so nice and he has been the best he has ever been since he went through the board and train for 3 weeks! Max still needs continuous training but Caity and Jessica(dog trainers) have always been available and guiding us eve' after we brought him back home. Additionally, the services of board overnight and group classes have been so helpful and since he has already received training there, Max loves it there whenever he has to go. Caity one of the trainers that mostly worked with my dog Autumn was awesome, any time I had a question even if I was working with my dog at home she was available to help and would text back quickly with some tips. I have a nervous, not confident pitty mix who was becoming both people and dog aggressive, she is not only more confident and less wary of strangers but now when she is showing signs of weariness toward a stranger both her and I now have the training for her to not act on it (aka growl or start barking), and me to control her and redirect her attention off the person or dog. Adam and his team are great! I have a XL Bully I struggled with for a while as a puppy. I thought is he the right breed for my family. I have had bullys my whole life and felt like giving up on him. After a 2 week board and train with Sit Means Sit my dog had many bad habits corrected. Specifically jumping on people. My dog is intimidating when you see him and almost 100lbs. With the professional staff and confidence in their training methods they worked great with him. I feel that any dog with problems or bad habits and dog owners who need a basic training foundation, Sit Means Sit would be a great match for them. The most disappointing disturbing life lesson our Loha was placed in a Training Program in which we were informed was safe fun and consisted of using a vibration collar NOT shock collar. Sit Means Sit dog training place has 124 locations across the nation I do not ever recommend ANYONE take their dogs there to be trained . We love our pet she is on the road to a full recovery with the love of our family . She weighed 90lbs at drop off 83lbs at pick up, came home with a progressed kennel cough that we were never informed about, and burn spots after 3 weeks. We were told it was a vibration collar being used, but when I tried it on myself It was definitely a painful shock collar. Yes they refunded me for the lifetime training, shock collar, and vet bill but not for the 3 weeks that my dog was being shocked, underfed, and sick she took nothing away form the experience because before every command they would shock her so she would only listen after being shocked. I do not agree with their training techniques. I feel it is an inhumane technique. I would look for another training program that does not harm your dog. NEVER AGAIN SIT MEANS SIT read more

We had the best experience imaginable with Sit Means Sit dog training. We have had three training sessions and have been working with our 5 month old rescue puppy and he has absorbed and learned commands and skills that will keep him safe in a myriad of environments.
