The friendly staff and knowledgeable the best I have ever experienced. More importantly they do not take advantage of their customers

The rudest owner I have come across here in Red River. Stop in front of this place to grab an ice cream next store and was sitting in our side by side eating it and then was going to go see about booking. Asked us to eat that some place else because we were taking up a parking spot. There were 3 open spots in the front and the entire side had empty spots. read more

I suggest anyone reading this to not shop at Sitzmark. There are 4 or 5 rental shops in red river that won't screw you over. Employees are awesome. Equipment sucks and owner is a douche. Horrible experience. He requested a payment of $100 for the bindings, which was provided to him in cash. Following the publication of my Facebook review, the owner contacted me, stating, "Meet me in the parking lot." This interaction raised serious concerns, as the owner threatened physical violence. It is highly unusual and unprofessional for a business owner to respond to customer feedback in such an aggressive manner. read more

What's a great little place we rented the casita for four nights and boy was it nice !! Decent price close to everything too. .....but. The beds were kinda hard and the TB was harder so bring ur own! Also coffee filters and coffee you'll need to provide ur own as well. But I would highly recommend this little cabin and would come again if I'm in the area. Very clean rooms also read more

Wanted to make people aware, I booked a rafting trip through Sitzmark Sports on July 23rd and left the store feeling very happy with the service I received and was ready to refer friends to the store. The following morning we received a phone call from the rafting outfitter, that our trip had been cancelled. (Conflicting reasons for the cancellation) The rafting company credited our account immediately and told us to get with Sitzmark about the remaining deposit. I contacted Sitzmark and was told they do not provide refunds. I asked for the credit to be applied to another activity, but Sitzmark was unable to schedule the day or vehicle that would work with our families needs. At that time I asked for a store credit and was told they do not offer credit. This policy was not told to us nor is it on my copy of the rental agreement. I completely understand their policy had I been the party that cancelled, however it was their outfitter who cancelled on me. This review is regarding the jeep tours, not the actual sports store. We had the craziest jeep ride ever about a week ago. Our driver, John, was a great story teller and was very friendly but he drove like a bat outta ****! He drove reckless and wayyyyy tooooo fast up and back to Greenie. We had a darling family of 5 with us and I'm pretty sure they were as scared as we were. . Because he was driving so crazy, we didn't get to enjoy the ride and the scenery at all, were all just hanging on for dear life! Please, you need to tell him to calm down a bit on the fear factor! read more

Came to red river with some friends for Oktoberfest and stayed in the hotel/cabins here. Place was very cozy and very roomy. Plenty of room for 4 people! Our room even had a full kitchenette which was wonderful for early morning breakfasts before we hit the small town for shopping. Price was very reasonable. Staff was nice. Even had a visit from the owner/manager to relight one if the pilots in our room. Very professional and nice. read more

Mark, his son, and all the employees at Sitzmark provided us with top notch service. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient (which is key with my boys). I rented my skis, poles and boots yesterday from Sitzmark Sports in beautiful Red River!. The knowledgeable professionals took great care in adjusting my bindings, since I had recently had a knee replacement, I had major concerns. The boots were really comfortable and even though it was the last day of the season the skis were well tuned up and freshly waxed. I love the personal attention that I received. This is a mom and pop shop, they are really friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back! read more

Seemed like really nice and fast staff. They made getting the ski gear easy. But when my husband got sick and had to go the Taos Hospital during the night and could not return the skis due to being admitted I was left with two toddlers and could not return them exactly on time due to the emergency I was attending to. I was left with loading a car full of luggage and trying to rush to the hospital after the friendly Red River EMS took him there immediately. But even with all that was going on no one understood the situation and I was still charged a late fee. It was out of my control and not on purpose but I was still charged a fee for a being a little late even with my husband being hospitalized. Poor taste. read more

Best ski rental in Red River, NM. First time skiers...we had lessons through the Red River ski area and used the equipment provided. For our lessons, we rented helmets through Sitzmark and were told of their rentals. Wow! What a huge difference the fit of the ski boots makes. Our second day of skiing was much more comfortable with the boots provided by Sitzmark! The ski boots had wider tops that easier to adjust and easier to put on. The staff were super helpful and friendly...definitely recommend using this store as your outfitter for skiing. read more

This is probably the best place to rent skis from and the rooms are very nice. We could see the torchlight from our balcony and was less than a minute to the lift base. We will be staying here every trip winter or summer. read more

Sitzmart advertises themselves as a "fly shop." I went in recently for some flies and other supplies but they had very little for fly fishing. Bait fishing maybe, but not fly so maybe they're great in that regard. I can't say. The clerk was friendly enough until I asked her about special trout waters (about a mile from town) and how bait fishermen were there using barbed hooks, spinners, and taking fish instead of releasing them. I was hoping she could perhaps alert Game and Fish or give me contact info. Instead she gave me a lecture about how I kill fish anyway with catch and release so it didn't matter. I tried to explain a little to her about fly fishing and how some fish may die if handled improperly by fly fishermen but all would die by bait fishermen! And those waters were restricted to fly fishing anyway. I didn't come here to debate the ethics of fly fishing, just ask a question and get some supplies. Their fly selection was less than a Walmart so I didn't buy anything other than a tool. I'll try another shop next time and recommend you do the same if you're in town to fly fish. read more
