Alpine Lodge is a sweet family owned place. They give love and attention to their guests, the beds were comfortable and the space was comfy and clean. I've stayed twice in the lodge rm 301 and presently in rm 303. I've absolutely loved both of my stays, last year and this year. Rachel and Kaitlyn were very accommodating and genuinely kind and made our stay very peaceful. The views were amazing. The wifi was very good. Amenities are excellent. The rooms do not have a commercial hotel feel. Balcony is a extremely nice touch. It will be my first choice when I come back. read more

I like this place. Is quaint. If you are looking for upscale Red River is NOT the place- do Taos or Angel Fire. Otherwise if you want to have fun but not be overwhelmed by city lights and too much bustle, this IS PERFECT! Great for families with kids. Wonderful ski slopes (please see ski map photo included with the review). The rooms are spacious and have a cabin feel. The front desk staff is very friendly and nice. "Get your sh** and get out!" These were the words of the owner... But, let me start at the beginning. I hope you at least get a laugh because you can't make this stuff up! My partner and I had just backpacked 400-miles through the beautiful mountains of northern New Mexico to get to Red River. We had been there previously and thought it would make for a good resupply stop for the long hike that we had been planning for years. When we finally made it to Red, we had a few options for lodging. My husband had stayed at the Alpine Lodge in the past. We knew it wasn't luxury by any means, but we'd been sleeping in the woods for a month, so we were just looking forward to a few very simple things: a shower, laundry, and a bed. I reserved online for two nights and copied the reservation number, and it was ours for 'only' $150/ night. The shower worked out just fine. The bed: my husband ended up moving to the floor for more comfort. And the next morning we got the key for the laundry. Two out of three goals were about to be fulfilled and life was good! Our tired legs were thankful to be resting for a couple of days before completing the last 100 miles of our trek. Half dressed (we were about to do laundry), eating room-temp leftovers (no refrigerator or microwave), and sitting on the edge of the bed (no table or desk), we got a hard knock at the door. The kind of knock that says, "it's never too early for conflict!". It was the owner. He told us it was past checkout and we that we needed to "get out". We were actually shocked, because: A) We were sure we had booked for 2 nights (though we were not given a receipt or asked for the reservation number) and B) If there had been a mistake by either side, we would have gladly cleared it up without any bullying necessary. In our disbelief over what had happened, we commented that the interaction was overly rude. Well, turns out that he overheard this through the open window (no AC) and in an escalation that could only have been fueled by high-octane mid-morning sweet tea, the owner re-worded his instructions to, "Get your sh*t and get out!". And that was it. At every attempt to speak with him, he parroted back the same inarticulate phrase. Unless they are just exceedingly bad at customer service, it seems we were not welcome here the second night at any price and he was convinced we were squatters. We had just been to the office 30 minutes prior with no question about whether we wanted to stay another night. I can only guess that had we had our vehicle (or better, a RZR) instead of walking in with only backpacks, they would have been more comfortable with "people like us" (a phrase that he actually used, in case I sound paranoid). I just don't understand what kind of vagrants he thinks would put down $150 a night for a room in a pricey mountain town. At this point, the owner was clearly only interested in escalating it further. He offered us the option to leave the "easy way or the hard way" (are we in a Clint Eastwood movie?). Not that we had any desire to stay there any longer, it seemed like this nightmare was either going to end with us getting punched or the police being called, we opted for having a 'mediator' present. As we were leaving, overseen by the marshal (yes, we ARE in a Clint Eastwood movie!), the owner said, "it didn't have to go down like this, but you were rude" (ironically, the only thing we did that could be construed as rude...was to call him rude). And that is how a perfectly nice rest day on a one month backpacking trip turned into a police escort and $150 extra dollars in our pockets to spend at a nicer, friendlier hotel! read more

Stayed in the free standing cabin #33. Two queen bed bedrooms and a queen pullout couch, two bathrooms, full kitchen with picture windows facing the ski mountain. Back door has a porch and opens into a large public yard with a few swings. Walking distance to the lifts and Main Street for eating and shopping. Clean place and the wood burning iron fire place puts off great heat. Our family will return again. The hot tub on property was great after a day of skiing as well. read more

Comfortable lodging and one of if not the only place in town that would take a one night reservation, so that is a definite plus in my book. Check in wasn't until the afternoon, but we were given the courtesy to check in that morning, again another plus. They have it all at the Alpine Lodge, rooms, suites, cabins, etc. Walk out the back side of the main Lodge, take the bridge over the river and across the street to do some skiing. It's that close! 2 hot tubs are on the property to ease those aching muscles after a full day of skiing. Friendly and accommodating staff, clean rooms, great location and amenities, what more could you ask for? This is first and only choice next time I'm in Red River. read more

Excellent choice for skiing or summer access at Red River. Literally steps away from Platinum Lift. We had a 2 Queen Ski View. Room is spacious and exceptionally clean. Beds are comfortable and plenty of hot water. They observe a 9pm or so quiet time and 99% of people keep to it. Close access to grocery store, ski shop, and restaurants. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again. read more

Such a quaint and comfy little place to stay. My husband and I arrived a day too early to check into our rental for the week, so we stayed here a night and we were NOT disappointed. We had a small gas fireplace in the bedroom and it was SO ROMANTIC! Definitely would stay here again. read more

Disappointing. Over priced. $130 for an efficiency. Toilet didn't flash well. Bathroom door wouldn't close without man handling. The ceiling fan made noise. Sad furnishings. We were looking forward to a long Valentine's Day weekend and ended up highly disappointed. Room was very small and the shower was very weak, one of the worst I've ever experienced. Then, Sunday morning at 5:30 AM it sounded as if the snow plow and clearing of the deck was actually happening in our room. I understand that the snow needed to be removed, but 5:30 AM on a Sunday? Especially considering that their own policy states that quiet time is from 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM. We actually forfeited our final night and left Sunday afternoon. I don't understand how a hotel shower can run out of hot water after 15 minutes but this one did it. The beds are the most uncomfortable I've slept on in a long time. Sleeping on the ground is better. The rooms smell like mold. This lodge claims they're worried about COVID but the mold I promise you is the biggest issue here. Look somewhere else. read more

Comfortable hotel room. Furnished with full functioning kitchen and utensils. The beds weren't super comfortable. I loved how it's right by the river. Beautiful scenery. The decor seems outdated but I'm assuming that is part of the cabin feel. Oh and it would have been great to have wifi for this city folk read more

The Alpine Lodge staff is a disaster. After booking a hotel room through Trip Advisor for 3 people, we were told the hotel we booked could only hold 2 people and we would be forced to pay $75 extra per night for a bigger room. We were upset, but understanding. We could have changed our reservation, but did not. The day after, of the three people going, I had a family emergency, that left only 2 people going on the trip. I called and asked the Lodge if we could switch back to our original room. They declared "we do not do down grades to rooms." They left me to eat a couple hundred bucks in spite of an emergency. I begged with them to switch us back to the original room and they finally conceded, saying that I'd only get 75% of my money back from the 3 person room. Whatever, I'd lose less money that way given the pricing differences. We signed up for the 2 person room again and I was about to cancel the room they FORCED us to upgrade to, when the general manager said "you'll get the 75% back, but only if we rent this room to someone else" she never explained that to me initially, and then practically called me a liar saying she did. That's no way to do business. That's absolutely no way to treat someone in an emergency. After going back and forth for several minutes, they gave us the upgraded room back and cancelled the cheaper one. I said, fine, I can't deal with this anymore, I'll just lose $200. I told the GM I would be writing a review about her terrible customer service. A few minutes later she called back, now willing to do the 100% refund. I said, "wow, thank you for your compassion. Can we book the original room for the guys still coming?". They replied "yes, that's fine". Several minutes go by before I learned they were actually going to turn us away all together. They no longer wanted our business. I would not recommend staying at the Alpine Lodge. They are absolutely liars and possess no compassion. If they treat someone in an emergency like this, how would they treat a normal customer? Terrible Business. read more

Best to book at a online booking site for this lodge. I thought I was booking a $98 plus tax room and when I got my receipt from booking with the lodge it ended up being a $169.00 plus tax for the exact same room. Very very small and no view of any mountains! No accessible plugins. Bed was good...worth $98 but certainly not $169.00. When we talked to the person in the office about the difference in prices she told us they raised the rates because of a event happening in town...I cannot stand price gouging!!! I will pay more attention next time! This lodge is not on my "I would stay here again" list! Disappointed read more

The new owners have taken great care in updates and improvements that will make your stay at this Lodge even more memorable! The Alpine has some of the best views in town, gorgeous grounds and the hot tubs on site are indoors! Not to mention that the Essential O2 Lounge (oxygen bar & aromatherapy boutique) is located right at the front on main Street to keep you breathing happy while in this time mountain town. Very nice cottages. The place is perfectly clean, neat as a pin, and run with class. They have a no noise policy from 8pm to 8am. We appreciated that so our evenings could be even more relaxing. Price is good, access is good, a gem in Red River. read more

Beautiful decor in the room. Booked a double queen jr suite with a balcony. The staff was really friendly and the toiletries were very nice. Loved the wooden dining table and gas lit fireplace. The only downfall was the entire ski area was under construction. It was at no fault of the hotel...they have no control of what the non property construction people were doing. So if you book anywhere in the ski valley be aware all of it is undergoing construction and pick the hotel with the best interior for your stay. Alpine surely made things better. read more

I hate writing these kind of reviews! We won't stay here again. Our room/kitchenette was decorated in the 70's...no decor, uncomfortable furniture (including the beds). There were signs posted everywhere that said "clean the kitchen or get charged 25.00" or "clean the refrigerator or get charged 25.00". While taking a shower you either get scalded or the water runs ice cold!!! The picture you see in the advertisement is not what our room looked like. Dark and dreary from the 70's. It pretty much ruined our stay in RR.... Save your money and go down the road...such a shame. Great location and nice staff--but for heavens sake spend some money and renovate!!!! read more

This place was great. Rooms were very clean and great view of the mountain. Huge hot tubs, yes there are a few. Outside fire pits that are kept going so no need for you to have to do anything but relax. And the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Stayed here during first weekend of august. Im not a skier and just went to redriver to get some cooler weather for a few days. Alpine was about the only place with any vacancy. It is in town and within walking distance of everything. Its at the base of the slopes on the little river. Staff was friendly and room was clean. $180 a night is fair priced for a decent place i thought. I just used the room for a place to lay my head when night came so it was just fine. Only con to the alpine i have is it gets pretty noisy in the a.m. u can hear every toilet and shower running in ur unit above or next to you and can hear everybodies business they are talking about lol. There are no a/c units in the double queens that we were in but theres not much of a need for them in red river. One day it was in the mid 80's and got a bit toasty in the room and would have been nice to have a cool room. I would probably stay here again. read more
