Well today was the first day of "supposably" enjoying our season pass. I was against buying the things but I let my wife go with it. I have been to better carnival's then this place. Rides broken down, totally incompetent staff, maintenance of the grounds horrible. Food...lol...one hour to get a burger from Johnny Rockets. So this is a burger joint but you couldn't get a burger to save your life, but they damn near would throw chicken tenders at you. Oh how about some ketchup for those cold fries and onion rings...another joke none to be found. Now the clientele....if you like hearing the F word, the N word, and have a bunch of wild hoodlums cut lines that your patiently waiting in then you feel right at home. If you dont like any of that too bad no security to be found. This place sucks!!! Go to Kings Dominion or Bush Gardens. read more

The admission is way too high for this very small park. I just a small circle with some rides. Paying for parking is greedy like others park. This is the worst six flags park. I went there once before six flags took over and back then its is bad. Some rides go slow. The food prices are too high. They have lockers and most of them are open and trash. SFA gets dumped on by people but it's actually a nice little park. Way better than it gets credit for. We got Gold season passes in April for $54 or something like that, which is ridiculously cheap. So wait for sales and take advantage. The Gold pass includes parking (and all passes are good at all SF parks too). We've been to the park I think 5 times so far this season and it's always been fun. 5 of their coasters are good to great (the rest, not so much). They have some good flat rides too. Lines are almost always short, which is fantastic, I think because most people go to the water park. The water park is nice too. The lazy river is pretty great. It even has a wave section. Much better than the one at Kings Dominion and a significantly shorter wait too. The wave pool is a good size. I didn't ride any water slides yet but my son and nephew did and loved them and didn't wait too long on a Sunday afternoon. The food is mostly about what you'd expect - not great - but there are some decent options. The philly cheese steak at Aviator Grille was actually pretty good, for example. On the down side the park needs more shade trees and I'd love for them to get another good roller coaster or two. As it is there's really not enough to do to stay from opening to close. The layout of the park is a bit weird with Batwing at a long dead end. Overall, don't listen to the nay sayers. SFA is a nice little park and is definitely worth visiting. read more

This was the worst time for me and my crew. We road the ROAR coaster, and the worker there with the dreads was very mean to my child. He was not allowed to ride because of her. She yelled and berated him because he got off for a moment to let my eldest child in the seat first. Mind you this was after waiting 30+ minutes in 95 degree weather in line. We actually ended up leaving early because it ruined our ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. Would not recommend! read more

This is a great park for coasters! Sit down, suspended...they're all really fun! There's even an old school wooden coaster (Roar), but it jostles you around quite a bit, so it's not my favorite. Fire Bird, the Mind Eraser, Joker's Jinx, and The Superman rollercoaster are AWESOME! There are a few out of the way smoking areas, which is nice if you're a smoker and they aren't right out in the open if you want to avoid smoke. One thing that stood out to me were the employees. Most are friendly and seem as if they really care if you have a good time. Outside of Disneyland, that's pretty rare. So glad I got a season pass so I can enjoy Six Flags America over and over again! Kind of a small park (that's the only reason for 4 stars), but lots of variety. read more

Park is O.K...food selection CAN be better...is burger and chicken and 2 pizza stops...but no one comes for the food ...right? I have a Diamond membership for 5...You have to reserve "preferred" parking far in advance.. as well as water park seating ..which is enough for 40 maybe a little more. What GRINDS my gears is, I pay a lot of money in membership and the BATWING has NOT been openly consistent YET its 7/14/2019...still haven't been able to ride it ONCE. We have been aboarding the car....and shut down. We have also came in the park and shut down ALL day....MANY MANY days. No explanation...its a guessing game. I have visited this park for this particular ride and NEVER able to ride. Waited in line over 40 mins and to NO ride. Purchased flash tickets and STILL no ride. There should be some compensation.. The food has grown to be the same everywhere throughout tje park, im thinking due to diner passes....I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! read more

Not a bad park...then again, not really great. But for the price of a season pass with all the trimmings (gold pass, parking, etc) totally worth it. In terms of rides, I did a bunch of kiddie rides with my son, and the Ride of Steel (very intense). read more

I had a terrible experience at firebird, Daedae and his manager were giving us highly unacceptable attitudes. I understand he was following the rules that six flags applies but bringing up security and having an unacceptable attitude was highly disrespectful. I've always been to six flags and never had this experience. Very disappointed, never coming back going to KD instead. read more

Technically this park is a 4, but I'll throw it up to 5 as I don't think it should be averaging less than 3 stars. When we first asked around to see if anyone's been to Six Flags, everyone we talked to in our area (N VA) was a little skittish. They were putting out a great deal for a season pass so we went for it. We've been there 4x now and have had a decent time each time we went. It's no Dutch Wonderland but my kids are slowly aging out of that park so this has been a great find for us. Be warned, many of the complaints in some of the other posts are true. It could be cleaner, the staff could be a bit more focused on service or be faster, and the food is what you may find at a fair (over priced with taste on par with fast food joints). However, with our meal plan + season pass, we've been able to take the day with much more leisure than visits at other parks previously (when we were more rushed and trying to get on every single ride, as much as possible within a day). This place is at most a 45min drive from our home, even in traffic so it's great for day trip when our kids don't have sports or other activities. Most of the staff and people we encounter on the rides have been friendly and several have made my younger one's day by accommodating her on various rides. The lines have been fabulous this weekend. People are prob waiting to go later for fright night, but we only go during the day so standing in line for rides was a breeze. Much more manageable than the summer. Final note to visitors: Don't be scared, it's OK! Everyone who goes to the park just wants to have fun, just like you, with their families. To the park: It would be great if you can push schedule changes or park closures on your app or on the Twitter account faster. We did drive out one time and it was closed due to rain or something else. Nothing was announced until an hour or two after park was due to open. We weren't too bad off, but overheard another couple who drove there from several hours out, which was a big bummer for them. Informed customers = happy customers. See you at the park! read more

The rides are breaking down every visit. They fun and music at the games isn't like it used to be. The happy employees I feel sorry for since they seem like it's not as fun anymore which is what made here great. The perks posted online would be nice... If we could get a wristband. I have a gold season pass to the smallest six flags park and have been tuned away BOTH times now to get a wristband. I drove all the way out and parked to see the lady at the table at 8:00 taking off the table cloth saying the 7/11 wristbands weren't available until 7:11 pm however no person or online posting (or park posting this past two days on Saturday and Sunday stated that part about 8:00 cutting you off even at the table). If any GUEST and CUSTOMER was "in the loop"'it would be exactly me. From being there both days this weekend, checking online the Six Flags America Website, and checking the season pass members perks and gold pass members perks I should know something starts at 7:11pm but will cut you off cold at 8:00pm. Last time for exclusive ride hours I was unaware of where to go and it was in the park and also cut off. I think it's rude. Also, they won't refund a season pass or let you talk to a manager to work out or discuss problems. Of course I am always told, "no manager is on duty." They don't care. The Virtual Reality on the superman would be very cool to try (and you all can see my number of check ins here.) I have not yet RODE it with and been allowed the Virtual Reality goggles equipment for the Superman. Usually it's when I get to the front of the line they give whatever excuse. What's the point? I am so disappointed this year at this park again and again. I use my season pass here primarily as my "glorified local town pool." The customer service, guest relations, and "no manager on duty" stuff is getting old. I am at the park, on the website, and linked in to the social media updates. This park lets me down and doesn't value retained customers that come back often and have a blast. Photo passes - the few rides that have a photo taken on them do not have an employee at the end. I have the photo pass and have learned to just wrote down my number (text the 6 digit code, coaster, and time) to myself for day end. Shop discount - I have that too. I got an item on sale and the employee couldn't get a sale and my pass to work. I would rather my season discount then over the sale (if not combined), so that costs more too. No discount or manager around for that either. If I can't get IN for exclusive ride time after checking all weekend about it and visiting on a Monday and have been in the superman line 4 times this season and when it's finally almost our turn suddenly the VR equipment is taken down. I will use my six flags season pass to come back since I have it but I expect none of the perks to actually happen. I can not WAIT to go to the New Jersey park for they AMaZING rides and I will not be getting a gold season pass, or regular one even to Six Flags America next year. Great Adventure=5. Great America (my lifetime till now home park)=4. St. Louis=3. Here a 2 since I can use the waterpark at least as my summer pool an hour drive away. That's all I have left. So disappointed to be re-reviewing with disappointment. I HATE this but I am honest and my old review and experiences here have NOT been that at all this year. My new true review is this year here sucks. Customer service has become horrible and no one here is available or cares. No perks. No food. No truth to the posting or advertising. Very poorly managed and very unorganized operations here all around. Sorry, buzz kill indeed! Overall, where is management? There are problems and no one to help fix it or even share the information to. Very sad. Falling apart and no one to save it... It's very disappointing to see this little park is finally not being kept up with like the others and is being left in the dust and wind by the others. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at an amusement park. I used to purchase season passes every year for 6 flags in Texas and New Jersey when I lived in the area, and I LOVED every minute of it, and would stretch my stays to include every possible second. I never understood why everyone in VA and MD went to Kings Dominion when 6 Flags was so much nicer.. but now I do. We had $15 tickets, so join me in my traipse through memory lane, won't you? -The parking, a clusterfluck. They take credit cards in ALL lanes, requiring the old-school signature for each, slowing down the parking process for everyone. Parking was $15 dollars, and $20 if you decide to forgo either the hoof to the gates or the wait for the tram and go for übarparking. I recommend you save the 5 bucks and walk.. it's right around 7 minutes. Trust me, there's plenty to spend on later. -Ticket sales: yet another mess. We waited 12 minutes (which doesn't sound like a lot.. but in the heat it seems a lot longer) for ONE transaction to be completed. Once we reached the window we discovered why. My boyfriend gave the cashier 30 cents for the tax which damned near made her head explode. She refused to do the math in her head, and said she would give the 30 cents back on top of the change. In the end, we were actually shorted the 30 cents. Sure, it's 30 cents, but again it speaks to the quality of folks they have running the show. -After the ticket fun.. there's the security check lines which are just as long as the ticket lines. We were passed through a metal detector, which went off.. the alarm was ignored and we were sent to a bag check table. There were no lines, just a mass of people crowded around a single person trying to deal with everything. We stood around for a couple of minutes trying to figure out WTF was going on.. and then gave up and just went around the mess. My bag was never checked. -Which brings me to bags, purses, backpacks, and anything else that would be considered 'loose items' on a ride. Guess what? You're paying a BUCK a RIDE to throw your bag in a locker for 10 minutes. No my friends, it's not like Kings Dominion where you throw your bag on the landing where your depart.. you're paying cash for each ride. Keep in mind the buck a locker is only for the ride park.. the water park lockers are either $11 or $17 each. -The maintenance in the park is atrocious, and the ride selection SUCKS. There are only 4 maybe 5 decent coasters.. and TWO of them were closed on Memorial Day Weekend. The train that rolls through the park had broken gates that were stuck down after the train passed through, blocking foot traffic through the park. A mechanic had to be called to lift the gates manually. -The Water park actually seemed okay, however we were only there long enough for me to dunk under the water and cool off. I had forgotten to wear my bathing suit, but was mildly surprised to find out they allowed all attire in the wave pool. The little punk area seemed fun albeit crowded, but there was a ton of stuff to do there. The wave pool runs 8 minutes on and 10 minutes off, and there's an "everyone out" policy every 45 minutes for "water safety." Er, okay.. This park is the dirtiest, nastiest amusement park I have ever been to, and that includes the travelling fairs that roll along the east coast. Even at $45 for 2 people, including parking.. it was one of the biggest wastes of money I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing. Save the money, Rent a DVD and order a couple of pizzas.. just save yourself this experience. Never leave your belongings in the locked locker! You can just throw them into trash bin and get the same result. My Iphone 6 plus with my id,my bank card and my insurance was stolen today from a locked locker. I guess, someone just watching for you to put the staff there and then use your password to take it. Of course, I went to "Lost and Found" office, filed a lot of paper work, talked to the guys responsible for lockers, looked through the printout when someone opened the locker. It all was fun, but at the end I got only "we are sorry". So I paid for the park, for the parking, for a locker.. Now I also paying for a new phone. So this trip costs me around $1000. The only plus from this trip is that now I know that they are not responsible for the belongings left in the lockers you've paid for.. read more

Dear Wild World, I'm writing this letter to you from 24 years in the future. It's the year 2014 here. By now you will have been sold off and renamed Adventure World. That too will be sold and renamed Six Flags America. Don't worry, all of your rides are still here. Like...ALL of them. The Wild One, which was built in the 1700s by General George Washington is still there. The Tower of Doom, built in 1994 is still there, but **NEW FOR 2014** it's been painted purple and renamed The Voodoo Drop. Mind...BLOWN! Speaking of minds, 1994's Mind Eraser is also still there. The newest ride in the park is the Season Pass line. With a wait time of several hours, guests can enjoy the thrill of handing a sheet of paper to a person behind a counter before having their picture taken. Seriously...I hadn't been since 2000, and it turns out that I haven't missed much. Besides the Superman, Batwing and Apocalypse coasters...everything looks pretty much the same. Again, that's since 2000. If you've been since then, you've probably seen all this stuff before. I got a gold season pass which comes with parking. They'll let you upgrade to Preferred parking at $10 a day. Pfft! No food or drinks allowed inside. This is the only amusement park I've been to where they search everyone. Not just metal detectors, but bag searches too. My friend had to take her tweezers back to the car. Apparently people have been pinched to death in the past. They have an unlimited meal deal which is about $80 for the season. They advertise that it's a bunch of menu items, but truthfully it's the same thing at every shop: burger and fries, chicken strips and fries, hot dog and fries. Drinks are not included, but for $15 you can get a "souvenir" cup and pay $1 for refills all season. After 3, the ghettonic plague starts and the place becomes hood real quick. It's only April. We'll see how bad it gets after it gets hot and the water park opens. read more

i'm more worried about staying warm than looking sexy for Halloween.... Man, I've gotten old... My first time ever at six flags and it was to come here for fright fest! bumerrr This was the biggest waste of time ever...Just drove about two hours and i can truly say that only got to ride 2 SMALL rides one or 2 big coaster and only 2 fright fest attraction.... Six flags America should be ashamed of themselves for overselling this event! Right from the start you pay way too much for any convenience at a Six Flags...Do not bring in anything or you will have it taken away by security or pay to lock it up I left the park around midnight because they were closing most of fright fest attractions and lines were getting longer for no reason! The Joker and Wild West rides are FANTASTIC! The ROAR coaster got stuck as we were going up and we had to wait for maintenance. The employee had said it's not the first time that happened. The Penguin Blizzard ride had a gross three inch pool of water in the middle of the raft - your shoes will get drenched before the ride even starts. Overall, great park! read more

We bought season passes, along with a dining card this year, hoping to have some fun with our kids last summer. For the price, you only have to go 2 times to pay for it, so IF you go a couple times over the summer, it's a good value. And considering you can't eat for much less than $12/ok, the meal plan pays for itself as well. The first thing that smacked me in the face from day 1 was the employees. I'm not sure that I can say that I encountered more than 1 or 2 employees that seemed like they wanted to be there and there is ZERO customer service. Ever. Like NEVER EVER. And we went A LOT. From ride employees WEARING HEADPHONES while loading and unloading riders (how is thay safe OR permissable??!!) to completely rude attitudes towards guests. It's really terrible. Most of the summer we went straight to the water park, which my kids enjoyed. Most of the time it was ok, but on weekdays, they have busses full of summer camps that come and take over the park. My oldest enjoys a lot of the rides, but we found that on almost every visit, popular rides were closed with no signage or notification prior to getting all the way up to the ride. I don't think I've ever even seen the Superman running! And the shows....good lord. I'm curious if they aren't willing to pay for talent OR if that's the best that apply. Particularly the singing/dancing shows. Most recently we decided to go to Holidays in the Park...the lights are pretty and the renamed rides are clever and cute. The lines for the rides we long and we left one of the shows because it was so nibad. I'm not sure what the admission price is, but without the season pass, I'd be disappointed. I'll admit that having been to Disney, everything else pales in comparison, but Six Flags, just doesn't do much for me. While I enjoyed having something to keep the kids occupied all summer, just not sure we'd do it again and I DEFINITELY would not pay general admission prices to go. read more

This place absolutely scares the livin' shit out of me. And it is not just the stomach turning rides. It's the fact that the whole operation - and the lives of thousands of customers - seems to be controlled by a bunch of jaded, half asleep dopey teenagers. If you are between the ages of 10 and 20, this is probably heaven - the further you get out of that range the closer it gets to hell. Add in the gross and overpriced food, the shoddy service, the difficulty of finding the place which sells beer, the lack of seating and the long lines divide that by the dollars you have spent and you end up with a dollar to crap ratio second to none in this city. read more

I will review from the perspective of a parent. My son and I love this place because with a season pass and dining plan this is a great outing that with the frequency we go to six flags parks makes this a great weekend outing weather permitting that becomes is cost beneficial in the long run. From the parent perspective expect minimal shaded areas, upwards of a wait of 40 min for a burger and fries, public urination ( it has gotten less frequent for the adults in 2019). Have a conversation with you kids on not using some of the words they will hear through the day there. Even from kids of similar age. If your a single parent at the waterpark the yellow inner tubes are heavy and difficult to carry. They are the best water slides but tell your kids ahead of time a few trips then you need a break. Check your kids restraints before you do yours. Safety checks aren't 100% and those moments are terrifying. Men's changing room at the waterpark, expect urine in the changing booth and clogged shower drains with food floating in there. Try to avoid guest services, it's the entrance to the 7th level of hell with kids. Positives are that the lines are usually pretty short. Food once you are able to get it is pretty good for where you are and what it is. Fair mix of rides. They do seem to be improving over the last few years to create a better experience with increased security that is reacting to problem guests. read more

I really wish I'd read the reviews here before we bought tickets and spent hundreds of dollars in this miserable place. I'm not even sure where to begin. Entry into the park was a nightmare with employees yelling at people to have their tickets out. It wasn't a polite request, it was more drill sergeant. Then, as my bag was checked I was told I couldn't wear my bandana in the park because it could be misconstrued as a gang symbol. Awesome. Oh, and the metal detectors were also a nice touch. I've been to lots of theme parks and have yet to walk through a metal detector. But whatever...patron safety, right? I could go into the specifics of our day but this review would be too long, so I'll just hit the horrible highlights. 1. Employees were ridiculously rude and beyond slow. There were some that were nice, mostly in the water park though. On one ride, as our harnesses were being checked, a patron and employee got into an argument and the employee told the patron "I hope you choke on your gum!" Classy. And forget the food service employees. Every single one of them hates their job and they move at snail's pace. 2. It takes forever to load the rides. Again, slow moving employees that are more concerned about reading their texts. Yes, they had phones out, looking at who-knows-what, instead of paying attention to the safety of patrons. Not very comforting. 3. There were lots of nice, rule abiding patrons on the day we visited, but there were equally as many patrons who were rude, loud, obnoxious, exhibiting just plain bad behavior. There was so much line cutting it became funny. GROUPS of people would cruise by you in line and say they needed to get to their friends/families/whoever. On the Superman ride we saw two groups almost duke it out because one group wouldn't let the other pass. At first the group standing their ground made the line-cutters turn back. Then the line cutters returned with reinforcements. It got ugly so we turned and left the line. 4. The food is awful. Probably worse than prison food and it super expensive. Total waste of money. Being that you can't bring any food into the park, you have no other option than to try and stomach it. 5. You will be nicked and dimed to death. Like I said, I've been to lots of theme parks and I expect to pay stupid prices for things, but this Six Flags is even more ridiculous than most parks. We paid: $20 to park, $15 for a tiny locker (and you better get one because we saw lots of people get their stuff stolen throughout the day), $42 for refillable cups (one of which broke immediately)....I could go on. Honestly, there is more but you've probably stopped reading at this point. I hope this review saves some families the time, money, and aggravation that we experienced on our day here. Save your cash and go to a legit theme park where you won't be worried about getting robbed or jumped. read more

I haven't been there for 5 years, I thought they may have changed but they didn't. I swore that I would never go back there again before, and once again I am horribly disappointed. This was a great trip for me my husband and kids we drove 4 hours from Chesapeake to Maryland this was a special trip for my sons birthday because he absolutely loves basketball we went to meet Dwight Howard of the wizards and he got his autograph and a picture afterwards we stayed for the hallowscream thing and we got scared by monsters so over all this was a great trip I would definitely come again. read more

Flash Gordon in spandex got 4 stars (5 stars had the arm muscles been real.) From the moment he looked in my eyes and smiled, it was like I was on that first hill on the Man of Steel roller coaster. I saluted him and he saluted me right back, then I got a little dizzy, a little funny in my tummy...oh wait..this is for Six Flags...my bad. Dear Hall of Justice, My wallet was recently touched inappropriately at Six Flags America. I feel dirty, used and cheap (not in the good role-play sorta way either.) I don't understand the exorbitant prices around the park when there was so little to offer. This isn't Disney World for chrissake. I didn't see any famous mice, but there were plenty of greedy rats all around. The first naughty touching was in the parking lot. They bent me over the hood of my hot car, stuck their greedy little sausage-like fingers in my back pocket and took out $15.00. Then, they touched my female companions. Gone are the days when my lady friends could carry their purses on the rides. Now they have to cough up $1 for a locker outside of the individual rides or they have to pay $14/day for a locker near the front of the park. Don't worry Justice League, we all pitched in together and dumped all out stuff in there. Would Superman have save us from identity crooks and petty thieves had the riff-raff invaded our flimsy locker? Could I at least pick out my superhero? Since when are 20oz bottled sodas $3.50? Lex Luther must have used his powerful kryptonite on me when I agreed to pay $14.00 for a souvenir cup with free refills. Now my wallet and my throat are sore. Believe you me Justice League, I drank and drank and drank to fill my gullet, but the evil powers made sure that I didn't get my $14 bucks worth. Can we say, I literally pissed it all away. The few rides that were available were fine, and as a matter of fact, we enjoyed ourselves but we wanted so MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more. We left the park after 3 or 4 hours because we were bored. We wanted Kings Dominon-type fun. You know, the one located at: Kings Dominion 16000 Theme Park Way, Doswell, VA 23047 I much rather drive further (1.5 hours from D.C., head towards 95-S and take exit 98 toward Doswell/W point/ Kings Dominion) to enjoy the 15 roller coasters and 400 acres of FUN! No wonder this one has such bad reviews. I have been to other six flags and they are much better. First of all half of the rides were shutting down and secondly the rides which were working had issues. It happened 3 times with us that we went to a ride and they had to shut it down for some techincal problem. Anyways there are not much rides and then half of the rides don't work. Its a waste of money. The only good part is the water park. Although there are not many slides still you can enjoy. But still the wave pool was closed along with couple other slides. We went 2 weeks ago and although the weather was in 70s there were no long lines for any rides. So atleast that was a good thing. But I would not recommended this park to anyone. If you are in this area you should try other parks like Busch gardens and Kings dominion. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I planned a day at the park with my grandchildren. We started out in the water park. I regret I got season passes for this location. Upon entrance employees were very rude. As we walked about the park, rude seemed to be the theme of those whom work at this park. The young man working the Dipping Dots stand was the exception. It was hot and humid .While waiting in line for the roller coaster, I loss consciousnessfor a bit. I came to my oldest granddaughter asked if I was ok. Not a person in line assisted us. My grandson ran to get security. I mad my way to the trash can in line and laid on it. I was going in and out sweating heavily. Honestly thought I was gonna die on the trash can traumatizing my grandchildren for life. The security called medical countless times other security personnel came to see what was going on. It took the medical so long I instructed my grands to call 911. The medical came I suppose when 911 arrived. The young guy came with much attitude asking if 911 was call and said hang up they are at the gate waiting. I felt a little better. He asked did I want to go to first aid or the hospital. I can go to first aid and they can give me some water but if I needed meds I can purchase. So, I asked how am I getting to there he said I can excuse my way to walk up the stairs of the line and back down to get to him or walk back thru the back. My grands guided me thru the back. I got to him he told me to hop up on the back. What was so disgusting about the matter it was about 5 park medical in the first aide room just talking having a good time. The RN Katie was ok. She game me a 6oz cup of water, took my vitals, and told me they see p dehydrated all day. Thats disturbing. What if I was ill dehydrated or not, its no excuse to not deem anyone calling for the assistance of medical staff not important or of serious nature because they see dehydrated folk all day. #sixflagsamerica sucks!!!! If you've been to Six Flags Great Adventure or Magic Mountain and think this will be similar, you would be wrong. This is Six Flag's forgotten park. We go once per year to get season tickets which are good at any Six Flags and they're $30 cheaper than at Great Adventure in NJ. When you're buying 8 that's over $250 savings when you include the tax. Well I guess they finally caught on that people were doing this, since this year the parking season pass which was always good at all the parks is only good at this hell hole. I don't think they've added any new rides in the five or six years we've gone here. And many of the rides always seem to be out of order. The staff seems only interested in flirting with members of the opposite sex, not running the rides or efficiently waiting on customers. And for the prices of food in the park, I would expect efficient service. If you work in a stand that only sells three items and one of them is nachos with cheese and chili, it isn't asking too much to have some cheese ready for the nachos. And the wave pool. At most parks, when the staff needs breaks they have someone else replace them. Not here. The wave pool closes 15 minutes every hour for staff breaks. They say it is a safety break. I guess a forced break so you buy overpriced food was too long. There are so many better parks within a two hour radius. You should go there instead. read more

After visiting the park yesterday Monday, June 27 I am extremely dissatisfied with the safety that the staff is offering. I felt like the staff was more concerned about chitchatting amongst themselves then getting the rides to move quickly and to check safety points before starting the ride, one incident on the Batman ride a young lady that was with me her lap bar was not safely locked in so when the ride laid-back to start her lap bar was still in the air and they were already thumbs up ready to go and the young lady started screaming. The picture that I would link to this post is the young lady that I saw him multiple rides chitchatting with the staff, she was also a staff member. I overheard her saying that she did not work until 3 o'clock but she was at the park at 11:30 chatting with the staff at the Batman the Superman and the apocalypse while everyone was trying to get in their seats to enjoy the ride she also cut in line at the Batman and Superman while there were people in line that we're waiting to ride the ride. I find this extremely unprofessional. It only takes one mistake for life to be lost or badly injured. I also noticed that when staff was relieving other staff for a break they were having to retrain the staff an order to show them how to check the safety harnesses and safety lap bands. I feel like training should take priority over anything I'm sure the staff does have some training but if they are not trained 100% on a certain ride then I feel that should not be able to work that ride. Once the lady was showing the staff member that was relieving the others on how to check that safety belts and she was doing it incorrectly and she had to be told how to do it correctly I did not feel that was safe. I also noticed people waiting to get on the ride that had a flash pass say that they were skipped two times in a row on the roller coaster and when they brought it to the staff's attention they said oh you're going to have to wait for the next one what is the purpose and purchasing a flash pass for an additional cost if you're not getting on the ride quickly?? I did not see any adults at any of the rides they all seem like young kids with no supervision! This was my first time visiting this Six Flags and as a result of my experience I will never come back to this Six Flags. I have been to many Six Flags in the past and I have never felt like this before. I did not answer the phone call because I was busy at the moment but I did listen to the voicemail. This is what was left, "hi this is Six Flags of America calling in response to your web comment. I apologize for your experience and we will pass your comment to the right department. If you would like you can give us a call back at 301- 249-1500" Where should I start! 1) Who are you I understand you were calling from Six Flags but it would be personable if you left your name that's what most people do! 2) why is the right department not calling me after three days I don't need to be told it was going to be passed on to the right department. 3) And given me a number that is for six flags of America for everything and not giving me the right props to push to get me to the right department to speak to the right person is a waste of my time! I would say much of the bad reviews regarding "this particular" six flags have to do with where it's physically situation (PG county). As a result many of the employees as well as the guest are going to be from in and around DC and PG county. There is really absolutely nothing Six Flags Corp and do about that. I have season passes. A few weeks ago we stayed in the park till closing (9:00pm). When we were leaving, employees were handing out fruit roll ups and M&Ms to departing guest. I teach my children right. They held on to the candy wrappers until we got to the car. As we were getting closer to our vehicle the entire parking lot was covered in fruit roll up and M&M wrappers. I don't understand how people from this area were raised. This type of behavior is everywhere. I believe it's one of the reasons why the park looks run down. I also feel that much and many of the employees and management (who are also from PG county) manage the park in the same manner. This is evident in the overall upkeep of the park. My rating of (2 stars) where for the following reasons.... 1. They don't allow you to bring food into the park. Of course their reasons are going to be things like cleanliness etc... However, the real reasons are to benefit the many food vendors in the area. They do metal detectors and bag searches when you get into the park. It makes no sense why you need to have your bags searched???? They have boxes within the park right next to the bag search area to dump food that was in the guest bags. Obviously they want to make their money all the way around!!!!! 2. The parking cost is ridiculous. You pay for season passes (basic pass). But you still are paying $20 bucks each time you want to visit. There really isn't any workaround with this. There is a large church across the street that you could park at but you have a high risk of getting towed. You can also park further up central avenue at the Library and take the C27. However on weekends that bus is on a 30 to 40min schedule. There is a retirement community (age restricted community) that has security around the area. Pretty much your only option is parking at the six flags or dropping your group off. I have a suspicion when Six Flags was built there they worked out the logistics to avoid people parking elsewhere. 3. Food cost within the park is also ridiculous. The Subway in the park doesn't participate in the $5.00 foot-long program. So it's 9.00- 10 for a 12". You consider feeding a family your easily going to spend 30 to 40 just for food and drinks. Everything is pretty much 100 to 150% marked up from retail price. 4. Overall this really isn't a cheap park!!! You can get great ticket deals if you do some light shopping. You can even get free tickets by getting a discover card or signing up for a Comcast package. They have coupon codes all over the internet. However, once you get into the park your going to either pay for it in parking or in food cost. Once you factor in all those cost you would be better off going to Busch Gardens. Bush Gardens doesn't have any of the issues I mentioned above, and I remember bringing food into the park several times. read more

Negative: in the d.c. part of the park I was re-filling my souvenir cup and right before that my mom complained about something so when I asked the same guy my mom yelled at if he could re-fill my cup for me I heard him talk about my mom to the cook then I grabbed the cup and walked away. I was browsing reviews and came across Six Flags. It is a sad sad place. There are many Six Flags out there that are much better. I can't even tell you about the rides. When I visited the power was out in most of the park. They sold us a ticket anyway without telling us. They were not concerned with getting us back either. They gave us no incentive to return. Definitely go on a weekday! The lines were almost non-existent. Good things: Rides are decent, park is pretty clean (except for the lazy river) and staff is pretty friendly. When I went, my friend lost her phone and was able to get it back from the lost and found with help from staff. Bad things: When I went, they had closed a bunch of rides for maintenance or something, and that seems to be consistent across several reviews. They don't really explain why and no one seems to know if the closed rides would open any time soon. The lazy river is DISGUSTING! The other water park rides and wave pool are pretty clean, but the lazy river is filled with plant debris and insects. It makes you wonder if they ever clean it. As with any theme park, the food prices are crazy high. A hot dog is 7 dollars! As some other reviews have mentioned, the layout of the park is strange. It's not a circle, but more like a small loop with long paths stretching out and connected in odd places. This makes navigating the park a bit of a hassle, and if you try to ride everything you're definitely going to retrace your steps a few times. read more

Honestly not bad. The park is small. We went on a Saturday, so we expected long lines. We arrived just after 12 and there were NO lines. We literally walked up and got on to every ride we wanted to. We got season passes during the Memorial Day sale. It's about $16 a month for two people, parking is included and we get a discount on food and free soft drinks the whole year. Most of the employees were rude or aloof but we definitely had fun despite that. read more

Butthole of a park. LOL. It's a dump... seems like a small townfair minus all the freakshows. It's in the ghetto as well... For example, during my most recent trip, there was a dude that got shot in the parking lot. For real... there was a cat blastin' on some fools at the amusement park parking lot. The service sucks...... I was on one of the rides (the one with the penguins) and it broke down. Shenika (the attendants name) told us, "ya'll gonna have to get off... cuz the ride is broke." The family a couple of tubes ahead of us were 3/4s up on an incline, so realistically they were hesitant. She goes on the microphone and ignorantly shouts, " YA'LL GONNA HAVE TO GET OFF CUZ THE RIDE IS BROKE!" I nearly died laughing as I exited my intertube. The Superman and Batwing (snicker snicker... Waiting... such a good movie) was great! They let us go over and over again since it was raining. The highlight however was when we were waiting for maintenence to fix the Superman coaster, and this guy decides to hop over the tracks and attempts to jump over the exit gate, which pushes out on a swivel he didn't realize that and busted his head on the concrete. The riders waiting nearly died laughing. I was in tears laughing. It was so funny that i couldn't explain it to my girlfriend for she missed it. Real talk... Been here three years in a row with the kids and I've been pretty pleased overall. Staff are friendly, well-trained, and diverse. Some recommendations: The biggest complaint I hear from people: Allow parents to bring food and snacks in for their kids- don't be so military over food. Kids eat small things often and not everything can be fries, chicken strips, and pizza. Not to mention Most small families will spend upwards of $200 on admission alone, then $20 for parking and $13 for a locker, add the food thing on top and the whole experience really seems like gouging. We were three visiting and very conservatively spent $23 on a slice of dry pizza, dry fries and 4 chicken strips alone. Had our tickets not been free (love your reading program!) we would not ever be able to attend this park. For a place that asserts itself to be for families and in-touch with what families require for a good time, all this seems counter to this goal. If you are attempting to price a certain element of the population out in order to control who visits, it hasn't worked. In my experience, this same element finds money for tattoos (they're all always displayed at the park despite your policy that says otherwise), expensive clothes, shoes, and cars but not necessarily for more practical things. Having said that, since this begins to rival the cost of a proper vacation, this is what that element will choose time and again since it is local to DC and Baltimore City. But then perhaps this fiscal tendency is what you're counting on so that you can rake in the profits. Anyhow, the food- Sesame Place very reasonably allows food into the park and last I checked, their sales don't seem to be suffering any AND their visiting families are very, very happy. I'm more likely to spend my money at an establishment that shows a certain amount of compassion in this area and has slightly more reasonable expectations of its guests. Next thing- the yellow cloverleaf tubes- are you kidding me?! We are reasonably fit, as was the family in front of me and behind me both times we went up, and my kids and I struggled painfully up what felt like a gazillion flights with these things angled sideways because the railings are too narrow to accommodate regular carrying. They are extremely heavy and awkward, and once, the weight and bulk of the tube caused me to lose my balance and I almost fell backwards down the steps. Even if I happened to land on the tube, that was not my idea of the type of thrill I'd receive on my visit. Maybe with all those food and admission profits, you could invest in a conveyor belt? 15 some years ago, I had season passes to this park. Let's just say, it was not a great experience. With that in mind, I was hesitant to return. However, I recently had moved back to the area and decided to give it ago with my own children. We had a GREAT time! It has changed SO much from what I remember. First, I have to say the service was wonderful! The staff was friendly and cheerful at every ride. Some of the staff were singing, always high-fiving my kiddos, and the staff that were walking around were always asking if we needed anything. They were happy to give my 3 kids cups of water for free (vs paying $3 a bottle!). The park was also very clean for an amusement park with plenty of shady seating in most parts of the park. They could, however, use more shade in the kid zone of the park. The Cowboy vs Pirates show was super cute and kept us all giggling. Secondly, The rides were great with almost NO wait. We maybe had to wait one or two cycles for the rides that had a wait. Last, the Superman rollercoaster is honestly the BEST coaster that I have ever been on! If you are a coaster lover, DO THE SUPERMAN! So fun! *Beware* It's not made for the "big boned". We went on Mother Day and had a blast! read more

I guess we are just use to Great Adventure; but here goes. The park opens at 10:30 am, but most of the businesses and some rides don't open until noon. The appearance of the park overall goes as such: *The plant beds are overgrown with weeds. *The place needs a couple buckets of paint. *The place just seems uncared for. *Most of the rides were down for maintenance. *But every one of the $5.00 a shot games worked perfectly. So the whole time you are trying to entertain you kids while the rides are down; you wallet mystically shrinks. The biggest surprise came to us at closing.... AT 9:00 PM. This place is short staffed. This was the most apparent when the shows didn't run. The place also lacked public information. You could always just wander around and find the single map board on Main Street; which to be honest maybe more entertained then waiting for the rides to be repaired. The amphitheaters were all in disrepair; and looked like an extension of the Apocalypse ride. Even if the show would have run; you would never have known the times due to lack of a Signage. Oh and and I would love to talk to your marketing guy. Throwing a bunch of shit against a wall; and seeing what sticks isn't great marketing. From when I first walked in; I was bombarded with a cornucopia of the pop culture. DC comics, WALKING Dead, Loonie Tunes, Pirates, Romans, Cowboys, Superman, Batman, and BOY BANDS!!! Oh and speaking of boy bands; it's ok to buy more then 3 songs. I will kill anyone who plays One Direction's "the way she walks" within the next few days. I saw a really cool stunt car show here once about ten years ago, but even that seems closed now. Like the early 90's six flag's commercials; I give this place 1-2 flags.
