I have to say that Six Flags America has definitely improved this past season. I visited the park somewhere near 30 times this year. The operations (ride dispatch times) are still a bit slow, but there were more good experiences than bad with the employees! The food from Chop Six and the Saloon is great! I would definitely recommend those restaurants if you are planning on dining in the park. If crowds are especially bad, Chop Six is among the fastest food lines in the park. The park special events are always fun! Forth of July, Fright Fest, and Holiday in the Park are all great! Be aware, as it gets closer to each holiday the themed events are for the crowds get much thicker! Also, as of this past season the single Coke Freestyle Machine had been removed. I hope to see the Freestyle come back, as there are no longer any places to get Mello Yello in the park. read more

Best ride -- Superman by far, and then Batwing in my opinion Now the bad rating goes to.. service, or lack there of. 1) Johnny Rockets - it will take you 30+ minutes to get your food here, I'm sorry but they are truly incompetent. You wait in line for 20+ minutes to order your food, then you move down the line.. when you get to the people serving the food THEN they give the order to the cook. How does that make sense? Why doesn't the cook get the order when WE order, then the food would be ready by the time we pay..? And also the girls working there weren't taking their jobs seriously, laughing joking, while the whole line was pissed off. Seriously need new management. 2) Superman Ride - operator Jemeah.. something like that I couldn't read her name tag is SO slow. We rode this ride 3 times in a row, and when we had a different operator it was noticeable. When she operated the ride, she was so terribly slow. And she would tell people NOT to pull down on the yellow lap bar.. which slows down the process. I saw a supervisor ask her why she's saying that and she said " because sometimes people forget to put on they seatbelt"... anyway, it was stupid. 3) Superman Virtual reality - luckily we already rode this in New England, because this Six Flags does NOT have their shit together. We waited in line for well over an hour, only to find out that the ride was down and VR wasn't working. I felt so bad for everyone else that waited in line. They should have said something, announced it to the line. Well. Just as I thought. Trash!!! Anyone who gave this park five stars needs a reality check. This park is a hot mess. Let me start with the good. Um. The ice cream was cute. Now with the review. The rides are old and look like they can break down at any given second. The park is out of date. It's 2018. And this looks like a playground for prison inmates. Dining is mediocre. Every venue we went to, bathrooms, food, park was NASTY! We arrived before 1100 when it opened and the bathroom was filthy at the entrance. It got worse and worse through out the day. I truly do not care for this park. Customer service sucks. We stopped at Johnny Rockets to eat and the service was terribly slow! The workers dealing with our food were literally walking around like turtles handling everything, as if they really didn't want to be there. Not only that, but the park is straight ratchet & ghetto! Chicks don't realize when the clothes they are wearing ARE NOT meant to be worn by them! Then, this chick in front of my daughter (who is a toddler) is gonna complain (like I didn't hear her) cuz my my daughter kept tapping her backpack when moving around on the fence while waiting on line to get on a ride. Seriously?! It's a child! This was an older woman and her older daughter, talking about how they have hit other parents' kids before. Had that happened, then it would have been on! However, I did not say nothing and kept my eye on her and I didn't say nothing to my child as she kept moving around in the line. I kept my composure b/c I had my kids there and did not want them in the way, but I kept staring at this chick hoping she would say something. People are just straight rude here. You have a handful of people willing to assist you, but overall, still sucks. My teen son doesn't even like going here and also prefers the NJ location as well. They also had to close a section down in the water park (kids area) b/c someone had an "accident" within the pool so they had to shut that entire section down. It was brutally hot too, and my kids were looking forward to it. I'm sorry, but won't be returning to this Six Flags again! We have gone to Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ, and that one is 10x better! We have family back in NY/NJ, so going to the NJ from now on is our number one option when we visit our fam back home! This park has poor staffing with clearly inadequate training. There are major health and safety issues. Here is part of a letter I sent to them after our recent visit. So far they have apologized but not responded to my request that they refund us for the season tickets we won't be using. 1.) On both days a significant number of the rides were unavailable. I know that some rides may be closed on some days but in the case of our visit there were several rides that never opened and others that seems to open and close at random times so that we often walked to a ride that the app told us was open only to find it closed. We wasted a lot of our day that way. 2.) We were surprised to find that one ride (the go kart ride) costs an additional $12 just for a few minutes of riding. There was no information about an additional cost and given that at the time several of the rides that were supposed to be open were closed it seemed really off to charge for one random ride. The joy of a place like Six Flags is supposed to be that you don't pay per ride. My daughter was disappointed. 3.) Our son has food allergies. Getting information about ingredients from the servers at your food stands took an enormous amount of time. Several of them seemed to have no idea how to even find the information or answer our questions. At many parks there are binders with allergen information for the food offered at each location. That would make a huge difference for families like our's. 4.) Overall the staff seemed off. The person running the carousel was nodding off during the ride and could barely communicate with us. The ride had to be malfunctioning because it barely moved, went around maybe twice and then stopped. Another person we bought tickets for the go karts from was non responsive when we asked him questions, seemed to have no information, could not answer basic questions. At one point a line was forming to buy lunch and five or six staff were goofing off dancing and talking to one another inside while the one woman at the register was trying to managing a long line and many orders and frustrated guests. She kept trying to get their attention and they'd run off, laughing. 5.) The water park was no better. An entire area was shut down so while there were tons of thrill rides and baby/ pre-school aged attractions the middle level slides that would have appealed to us were unavailable the entire day. 6.) The restrooms and changing rooms were absolutely disgusting. More than one stall had overflowing, stopped up toilets, filled with toilet paper and feces. These were not new issues, but things that had been sitting around for some time. One stall had a used sanitary napkin left face up stuck to the wall, it was so gross we walked half way across the park to avoid using those restrooms. This was not confined to the restrooms either, there was one food service area that smelled of vomit, as if someone had been sick while in line and it had never been cleaned up properly. 7.) Yesterday in the water park there was a group of about eight boys (probably around age 15) whose behavior was outrageous. They made one life guard cry. They ignored safety rules and kept going down a water slide that requires a raft without a rafts and all at once so eight people were sliding down together, which looked unsafe. I watched one life guard ask them to stop repeatedly, they ignored him. Eventually security came and spoke to them but did nothing. The boys lied to them while the life guard tried to explain they'd been doing this all day long but the security guards didn't do much. At this point I approached security and asked what it takes to get thrown out of the park, explained that I didn't need my 12 year old watching behavior like that all day and I would never have allowed my 18 year old to act that way. I think eventually they may have been removed from the park but by then it was almost closing time. You need older more experienced security guards who will actually back up your life guards and you need to hold guests to the standards written all over the park. 8.) There were so many school groups and kids were so poorly supervised that we regularly heard words like "Bitch" as well as actual curse words yelled between people in the park. It was not a family atmosphere at all, and some of what we witnessed happened on a day that was supposed to be a low sensory day. It seems the number of school groups and the level of supervision of those groups should be taken into consideration. read more

I was really impressed with Six Flags efforts to keep everyone safe during the corona virus. I was skeptical about going to six flags but my family needed a day out to have fun. I love that they weren't at full capacity and that we had to make reservations before going. We didn't have to wait in long lines for rides. Everyone maintained social distance in the lines for the rides and the employees did a good job reminding guests to keep their distance. I saw the employees wiping down the seats and bars of rides and even the rails where we waited every so often. We were reminded to put on our masks all throughout the park. I wish I would have gotten season passes because I want to visit the park again while they're not operating at full capacity. read more

Yay 6 Flags! Let's start off with the Good. There water park is amazing. The wait was annoyingly long at times but hey safety first. The scariest water ride is the one you have to step into and the floor drops. Needless to say I rode every ride more than once except that ride. Other benefits include semi clean bathrooms, fast entry to rides, good music played by the DJ etc. Moving on to the BAD. As with any amusement park locker rentals and food are super expensive. Ain't nothing we can do about that. Unfortunately the wave pool produced No Waves! I refuse to swim in a child infested peepee pool with out waves. #GirlBYE. I'm a coaster dork, through and through, and I had only heard bad things about this park from my numerous friends that had visited over the years. One was even there and in the parking lot during one of the shootings. I heard stories of closed rides, bad attitudes from employees, and general upkeep issues. That said, it looks like management may be turning this place around. I went on the Sunday of opening weekend, and everything was open, employees were interacting with guests and very friendly, and the park was looking great. Yes, they desperately need some new attractions (and though many might not realize it, their "new" coaster, Apocalypse, is actually over 20 years old and from another Six Flags), but what they have makes a decent lineup. Pleasant surprises: Joker's Jinx runs much better than any of its indoor cousins. Batwing was surprisingly re-rideable. The Wild One has just been rehabbed, and is running butter smooth. Meh: Superman, while fun, tracks much worse than any other Intamin coaster I've been on. It almost felt like they are not replacing wheels as often as they could. The flat ride selection at the park is small, but they have some fun rides in the collection. Yuck: Roar was horribly rough, and the train shuffled way too much for a coaster of this age. Mind Eraser was the most brutal coaster I've been on in a long time! We managed to ride everything in less than 4 hours due to the light crowds. I'll probably avoid this place like the plague when the summer crowds hit, but for early season, it makes a fun day out! read more

There were a lot of terrible reviews about this place but we had an awesome experience! We went on a day that had rain in the forecast so were blessed with a virtually empty park and never had to wait in a single line!!! We got to go on every single ride multiple times and didn't have to fight the crowds ever, which I'm sure helps the experience exponentially. All the staff were really friendly, we actually had fun joking around with many of them, and we didn't have a single rude encounter. Some of the older reviews said you had to pay a dollar per ride to use lockers but actually we found that there are cubbies near the exit of every ride you could easily set your stuff into for free. Some of the water roller coasters were closed (but not the water park) due to rain in past weeks messing with water levels, but assume that was temporary. read more

Review caveat: my company rented out the park, so lines were practically nonexistent. I went to this Six Flags (first time at any Six Flags location) yesterday for a work event. Honestly, after seeing such negative reviews, I was prepared for the worst, but I actually had a decent time. The rides - they have 8 coasters and I rode each of them. Most of their rides are on the older side, and you can FEEL it - they definitely bang you around. Not smooth like some coasters like the ones at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. My favorite ride was the Superman Ride of Steel coaster, which was awesome, what a drop! I also really enjoyed the BatWing coaster, but was feeling more lightheaded than I expected when I was done (translation: I'm getting old). The park was clean, no issues there. It's got a bit of a strange layout - seems that space isn't utilized well - some rides are crammed together and others are really stretched out. Other reviews mentioned their staff in a negative light, and I'll agree, it was staffed with high school kids - but I found them all to be pleasant. They seemed to work hard to ensure we were all strapped in (on every ride) and some of them even high-fived us after the rides! Never seen that at ANY park I've ever been to. Overall...good, not great rides. I probably wouldn't go back just because, but I won't avoid it if my work rents out the place again. read more

The season pass til Sept was $76.99 I think it's a little expensive for what we can get. The food and drinks there are very expensive, and water cost $6 just for a bottle, 1 bottle. They dont allow you do use the water ride twice. Every 20 take a break and they ask people to leave the poll, they dont care if you just got here or anything. The security didnt let the babe's food because he thought its not baby food and we had to call the manager, the baby cant just eat food from there, babies just dont eat random sixflags food, they have to have baby's food. It was a good day there after all it's just that some of the workers are so sloppy and clueless and inconsiderate although the majority are ok. read more

We had a pretty good time there. Wasn't packed... lines weren't bad. The only issue was the staff at the restaurants were pretty young and ignorant. Most of the restaurants were short handed too. We ate at the Asian Bistro place... it tasted like something from a TV dinner. Gross and overpriced. I did love the option to buy alcohol... that made the day easier for sure. Rides were fine... most were super scary but people like that... me not so much. Warning... the women that were visiting dress awful... too little clothes for most.. I had to see too many body parts that should have been covered... see through shirts, bad bathing suits... and even period stains soaked through this plus size woman's green leggings... no shoes on etc. Great for people that love to people watch. Any who... we will visit a few times this year since we live close and got season passes. Fun fun. read more

From Wild World to Adventure World to Six Flags... I've seen all of them. I used to spend a lot of time in the water park, and I absolutely loved the slides at that time. As I got older, I got braver and I favored Roar, Wild One, and Tilt A Whirl (which is unfortunately gone now...). I really started to enjoy the park when Superman: Ride of Steel opened up. It is in my top 3 Six Flags rides to date. Once I went off to college, I disconnected myself from being a regular. As high school started to end, I began seeing trash all over the park, I heard about fights in the parking lot at least once a week, and the overall quality of the park seemed to diminish. More recently, a few new rides have opened up and the park seems to have bounced back in full force! It's still not as good as the one in New Jersey, but it has the Ride of Steel to hold it over. Worst Six Flags! Don't waste your money if you want an experience. If I could give this 0 stars I would. I am not giving my YELP review in on the rides, but rather the employees, customer service, and food. It was the worst for all 3. Employees/staff - The employees are not trained and the supervisors and managers aren't much better. Shouldn't all staff be trained before opening weekend?!?! Customer service - what customer service?!?! It was nonexistent. The park is full of teenager employees that no nothing about customer service. I saw first hand a manager arguing with another family about how their food was not made and 5 other families received their food before them. I had a funnel cake employee roll her eyes at me and walk away when I asked if they were open. The sign said they open at 11am until park closes (it was 11:15am). Food- lunch time came around and I paid $74 for my family Of 4. The kids meals were cold and my chow mein was cold and rubbery. The best part - they didn't have any straws for my drinks! Six flags is a horrible company I was hung up on five times when I asked for an annual pass refund for the year 2020. I purchased three annual passes before coronavirus and now the park is closed and they refuse to give refunds. This companies employees stated that they don't need to give refunds because xoronavirus will be over by April 1st 2020. When I said I don't feel comfortable going in April the employee stated that six flags doesn't care if I feel comfortable and they will not help if I catch it from six flags. Why is it so hard to give back my one hundred dollars we did not go to the park this year at all and I don't want to anymore due to coronavirus so I was sold a death ticket because I have three tickets I can't use and they won't refund. read more

I have a 13 month old daughter and had a bag that had some cereal in it for her. The security at the entrance threw it away (like come on it's for a baby). So as the day goes on I see a women feeding her son food from home. Like how is it she could feed her son a whole meal but my daughter couldn't have a bag with cereal. I have lived here for 10 years and I can NEVER get anyone from the area to go to Six Flags with me. NEVER. I am from West Virginia. To get to a major amusement park means a road trip out of state. At minimum a 4 hour drive. So passing an major amusement park on the way to church was just unreal to me. WHY WON'T SOMEONE COME WITH ME!!! LOL...I have decided it is because they are spoiled. Anyway, I FINALLY went today. Mind you it was with 3 moms and 7 kids 5 and under so it was not exactly the Six Flags trip I had been craving for 10 years but nevertheless, I made it there and I had a ball. My friend got a great deal on season passes at the end of last season and with it came a parking pass, meal vouchers and snacks. It was awesome. You get a funnel cake, you get a funnel cake and yes you...you get a funnel cake. Please note that my visit was 100 percent preschool/kindergartner friendly so I didn't get to venture to any adult rides but from where I ventured the park was clean, the kids running all of the rides were courteous, there was plenty of stuff for school aged and pre-school aged children to do, and at all of the rides they provided free cold water which I think was really a nice very contentious touch. Mind you we went on a Friday during the day so there were really no lines. The best part was the splash/spray park which is PERFECT for the little ones. No floaters. They can romp through the water with a lot more freedom than a pool because of the shallowness. All in all a great day. I look forward to going back with adults. read more

Six flags America is a total dump now I'm so pissed I brought memberships and stuck with them for a year first of all the associates are clueless and have no idea what's going on. They have the most stupidest now you don't go to the member service desk to get your card and free cup you get it at the security check in the girl scanned my bar code and took my pic with her phone and almost forgot to give me the card she handed it to me with no chain connecting it I had to leave the park and renter to get my cup. The food was ok but the associates once again was clueless. It was oven cleaner next to the cooking spray I'm in the culinary field and that is really dangerous all it takes is to not pay attention and spray that on a pan and get everyone sick. Now for the cleanliness of the park the hurricane harbor was filthy stains on the ground the bathrooms was so gross I decided to wait to shower wet receipt paper and food on the shower floors and had an over powering smell of pee. The parking lot was littered with fast food bags and liquor bottles someone can easily mess up there tires with. Bottom line it's not worth it there is better amusement parks in Virginia and Hershey park only a few more hours away. This six flags is in need of a renovation really bad. read more

I purchased season pass for my family last summer and since then we've not been to the park this year, 2019. I've learned that my husband will be deploying and asked for a refund for his unused season pass and was told that ticket is not refundable. Honestly, the only reason I go to this park is because is in close proximity to my home. With a season pass, its something to do sporadically to have "something to do". However.. I'm not impressed by the park, mainly its employees. I do not get on rides there because they ride attendants are extremely slow. I understand making sure everyone is safe and secure in their seats but these guys take it to a new level. They walk slow, stroll across, laugh and giggle with one another and its all holding up the process. Some of them act immature. They look at you like they have attitudes as if they do not want to be there. Its crazy and this is something that I notice every time I visit. SMH. Besides, isn't this the park that kept having the ride break down over and over? I don't think I'd feel safe if a ride broke down and those were my attendants. The food service workers are just as bad. Hardly any of them smile, they rush you and talk to you like crap. I was there on opening day, received cold food (that was sitting under a warmer), there was no condiments sat out, it was overcrowded everywhere and it was just a bunch of confusion. This was mainly in Gotham but I'm sure its elsewhere. I have a food pass, items are indicated by a "M" for meal and a "S" for snack. In most cases, the "S" was non applicable at certain restaurants, example: A menu had "S" for a "regular drink" but when I asked for it the cashier ARGUED with me that I couldn't get it and I had to get a bottled water. She stuck by her guns, with an attitude, and I never did get a drink with my meal. I can't believe she argued with me and her supervisor had her back. There was an occasion where I wanted to get a loaded nacho for a snack and while explaining to the cashier that I didn't want sour cream, he looks at me and says "Why are you telling me, tell her.." then he rolled his eyes and went to the next guest. I found myself having to yell at the lady making the nachos because it was so loud outside and she couldn't hear me. We also had a language barrier so in result my nachos were still wrong (LOL). There was no ketchup in the park yesterday. They give you french fries with EVERYTHING but yet there was no ketchup in the park (that's what we were told). None the less, the food pass is a good option but you just have to find the right restaurant. The food is OK and yes there are options if you want a burger, chicken tenders, or pizza that's typical stuff that's overpriced. I couldn't find a hot dog around that place. Re-scheduled my Robotics team field trip so that they could go to the water park and it was closed! This is the second year in a row that the water park has been closed for this annual field trip. Staff is iffy, some are friendly some are not. We went on a weekend and half the park was closed. Facilities are dirty and understaffed. (If you are ordering food, don't expect any options for food allergies either) Worst of all, we came on a high school trip and someone had their wallet stolen by a rollercoaster attendant and security did nothing.
