So I was so excited to come due to my previous experiences at the one in Bellare.. Well, I just walked in and there were two girls at the counter packaging cake. They would not speak to us. So we said hello and they still would not speak. My finances walked to the register and said hello again they barely looked up and mumbled hello. I will not be back. I assume our money is not wanted. Fresh, warm coconut breads.. YES PLEASE! I love this bakery. They have delicious rolls, almond cookies, cakes, puddings & other desserts. It's a small bakery, but all of the shelves are pretty well stocked on weekends. Everything is super fresh. The prices are excellent for the quality. read more

This is a nice lil area, the entire shopping strip. I came here on impulse. What a find! I've never seen baked goods such as these. I have made it my mission to try something new every time I go to Six Ping, and I am a fan of the bread here. The dessert options are nice as well. The small cakes are visually appealing and the flavor is not overpowering or bland. I bought the mango mousse as a large birthday cake before, and I'd like to return and try the other mango cake (with the slices on top) next time. I'd recommend mango mousse and green tea. You won't be high on sugar after eating them. What you WILL get high on are those giant macarons. They would benefit form just keeping the smaller ones on top of cakes. The large macarons are tough and hollow inside. The filling for the strawberry one reminds me of the Yan Yan flavor, but no matter which flavor you get, it is guaranteed to be overwhelmingly sweet. I wouldn't buy those. Pineapple cookies are alright, but my one true love was the strawberry cream cheese cake roll with fruit on top. I bought it once, enjoyed it, and never saw it on display again. FINALLY. I don't have to trek down to Bellaire to pick up yummy desserts. My family loves Six Ping. We always get our cakes here. The cakes are always light, slightly sweet, with plenty of fruits. The small little desserts in the display case are also delicious and beautiful as well. My family loves durian, and since this place sells a variety of durian desserts, bonus points to them. The staff is also super friendly and helpful which is great. read more

The location in Chinatown is better than this one. My sister ordered a cake for my birthday. We had specifically told the lady when we placed the order that we wanted taro and pudding on the inside and mango on the outside. When we got the cake, first they spelled my name wrong (they were nice enough to change it) then when it came time to eat the cake there was no pudding on the inside. Instead there was mango. As a result, the cake kept falling apart bc there was nothing to keep it together. The cake was also slightly dry. It's disappointing that this cake did not turn out the way I had asked. This is a cake I was look forward to every year but this mess up was a let down. This also isn't the first time this location has messed up an order. So note: don't go to this location!! Disappointing to spend $50 on a cake and it's not what I had ordered. read more

I'm extremely pleased to have Asian bakery in my area. The variety of sweet and savory breads they have is astounding. The breads are also reasonable priced, but their flavors go beyond that. The ham and cheese bread is a great bread for a quick lunch and is a perfect trifecta of price, quantity, and taste. Although they open early, I recommend going 3-4 hours later so they have time to stock their shelves read more

Great little gem in the new Asian strip on 1960. Friendly staff, clean bakery, and everything looks delicious. The bakery is neatly organized and cakes line one side of the wall and they also have a frozen section side. Nice place to come for a light dessert. Prices are about average and fair for a bakery. I ordered a Waltz birthday cake for my friend. One lady suggested to have "happy birthday" written on a piece of white chocolate. However, when I picked up the cake today, the "happy birthday " sentence wasn't on the white chocolate, but rather on that paper cake base. I was not satisfied with the final product as well as their attitude of not giving solutions for their mistake. read more

Loved their pastries. I only purchased pastries and all of it was great, super soft and not too sweet bread; just perfect with a cup of coffee. I would say maybe add an element of crunchiness to the bread just for a change in texture but overall great bread. It is individually wrapped so you can hand them out with ease. Brought the bread to a family gathering and everyone loved it (we're all Hispanic and in case some people are not aware Hispanics do eat a lot of pastries from their native countries or local panaderias). BTW I have yet to find a decent panaderia in Houston and i have tried some of the most famous ones already. Great service by the two ladies attending at the time. read more

I always love Six Ping but this location really has to train their employee. Me and my husband came here few days ago to buy 2 cakes for my family, i have to say the young girl was being very helpful and nice to us, but there is a mid age woman was not very nice and professional. We asked the girl for the signs "happy anniversary" and "congratulation" . She gave to us and didnt ask for anything. The lady started packing the cale and saw that she gave us the signs, she started speaking vietnamese and mind you we are vietnamese too, she was like " why you gave them that? Dont do it next time" and it seems like she is about to give the girl problems so i put one dollar in the jar for the sign. Then she keeps on talking about that , so my hushband didnt want the giel to be in trouble so we gave her back the sign. I bought the mango milk pudding here. It is very soft and creamy. Not too sweet. The mango purée on top taste like it is made from real mango. I think the price on their baked goods are considered average for most Taiwanese bakeries. Overall, I like it. read more

Six Ping is one of my top 3 Asian bakeries in Houston so it's really cool to see their empire expand up here. However, not all locations are made equal and I've only ever been able to trust the quality of goods at their original location. So then... how does this place compare to the others? Well first of all, they accept credit cards with no purchase minimum, WOOOOOOO!!! That's amazing so +1 for that alone, probably thanks to the lower rent up here. The store is large but the selection seems a bit more limited compared to other expansion spots, maybe because they just opened. Missing were many items I normally see at the Jusgo and Dun Huang locations. However, the store runner told me that you can request any item they don't make in advance, and they'll have it delivered from Chinatown in 2 days. Quality: it's not the same :( I don't know if it's because they just opened either, but I've tried 10 things here over 2 weeks and they've all been noticeably worse than at the original location. So far, most of the breads I've had have been stiff, not as fluffy, more bland, and not as fresh. I'd understand about freshness since there aren't too many customers yet, but there's still something fundamentally different about their bread making process. I've had 2 buns that measure up in taste and fluffiness. The rest have been bleh. I'll be back to see if anything changed maybe in a month. But for now, 3/5 for food quality but 5/5 for location, credit card policy, store organization, and super niceness of staff. read more

YES! A Six Ping near me! Just like other locations of Six Ping this location comes with all the delicious baked goods, breads, and cute cakes that the locations on Bellaire have to offer. The breads here are soft and the cakes are perfectly sweetened. Also, this location takes credit cards if you have $10 worth of items and up. I've been to one location across from Tofu Village and underneath Fit where they're cash only, but it's good to know this location gives you some leeway if you reach their minimum. read more

i've been here multiple times and they've always been great but today i came and i called specifically to tell them i would be there right before they close because i am 30 minutes away at 5:25. the lady had said it's okay because they close the door right at 6. i get there at 5:56 and the door is locked and what i assume is the owner does a hand gesture like go away. i called them first and they left the phone ring for a whole minute. i called them twice and when they answered the phone i said i'm outside and you guys said you would close at 6 and it's not 6 yet. they just said "no" and hung up the phone on me. they also said something in another language... i couldn't hear what they said and i only speak baby viet so i'm not gonna say i heard specific words but i'm sure they were talking crap about me. not recommending anyone to this place if you want poor customer service and lies. like i was just trying to get my grandma a birthday cake. it was literally just so unnecessary to treat me that way. read more

So glad they finally opened a six ping location on the northside!! Had been waiting months and months for it to open once they put the sign up. Always loved six ping but hated driving all the way to Chinatown. The location has a huge variety and I always leave with more bread than I can eat but sometimes I wish they had more savory bread options. They had Chinese style beef curry bread one time which I actually liked but I haven't seen it since, they do tend to sell out of some varieties too. read more
