Honestly, I was debating between 4 or 5 stars because I was extremely happy with how this cake turned out. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I worked with Tara and she was such a sweetheart through this process, on email and over the phone to make sure I solidify all the details with her. The only thing I was bummed out by was really the fact I couldn't come in to at least taste the cake without spending $25 dollars. I know I was asking for a speciality cake of snickerdoodle, but I was hoping it wouldnt be such a high price. If I could give Bavarian Cakery more stars I would! Our wedding cake was included in our package we purchased with our venue, and I'm so glad it was with this place! My husband and I met with Tara for our tasting in April. Not only did she have great suggestions for our cake, but she had other great suggestions for areas of our wedding we hadn't yet thought about. One of my favorite things she had mentioned was for me to let her know what color my dress was, this way she could make the cake in the same color. This allows for your cake not to stand out more than you! I hadn't even thought of that! After the tasting she reached out a few times through email to check in and keep up with head count or if we had changed our mind about anything. From start to finish, Bavarian Cakery was one of our easiest vendors to work with. Their tasting process is very easy (and free), and they have so many flavors. They were also very flexible with allowing us to come back to re-taste flavors to make changes. The cake was beautiful - exactly as I pictured it, and everything ran smoothly with their delivery. I had requested a sample box for tasting of the desserts I was interested in prior to booking this vendor. We ended up ordering churro cups, macarons, and mixed berry tarts. If you are wanting churro, I suggest going with a vendor that makes them fresh on the site, it'll taste way better than cold/stale churros. In the sample box we received mixed berry tarts we received with fresh fruits on top, which was the main reason why we selected it for our day. I'm not sure what happened but on our wedding day, tarts were delivered but they were not the ones we had sampled. The ones that were delivered had no fresh fruits on top and looked completely different than the one we sampled. I did not see the dessert table on my wedding day but recently received my wedding photos, which is why the error was discovered. I reached out to Tara vie email about this. She admitted that she did not note what items were placed in our sample box. She also expressed that because she did not receive a missing piece of the macaron tower display, that the $200 replacement fee was waived and this can an be an "even trade" for their mistake. Tara contacted my coordinator about this missing piece while I was out of the country for my honeymoon. She never contacted me directly regarding this missing piece until I emailed her regarding her baking error. I'm not saying she's lying but there's no proof that this piece was missing or if this narrative is used as a cover up. She mentioned in her email that she was surprise to learn of the mistake so late but like mentioned previously, I just got my wedding photos back. There is a lot of moving parts on a wedding day and unfortunately photos are all that one had to recall details. I do not recommend working with someone who forgets what they placed in your sample box, delivers the wrong baked goods for your wedding day, and when you bring it to their attention, they try to manipulate the issue with another issue. The tone of Tara email was passive aggressive. A person is aware when they do something wrong. For a vendor with years of experience to claim that they didn't pay attention is beyond disappointing. I felt blindsided and did not get what I hoped for. There was no resolution for this error. If I can go back, we would have booked a different vendor that's detailed oriented, delivered the right items for their clients on the most important day, and has a better plan in place for customer satisfaction. For a high price tag, you would expect better execution and service, but that isn't the case for Bavarian Cakery. 0/10 recommend. We used Bavarian Cakery for our wedding on 3/19/22 and absolutely loved it (our guests did too) ! Our cake flavors were the Vanilla Bavarian Cheesecake for our base layer and the Amaretto with Pineapple and Cream Cheese on our top 2 tiers. We went for a cake tasting back in October 2021. Tara gave us a piece of paper that listed out the different cake flavors and options for filling. She gave us space to talk amongst ourselves and make decisions but was around if we had questions. She also inquired to see if we had our other vendors finalized and provided some pamphlets and business card recommendations (per our request). The reason we we went with them instead of others: 1) The cake was moist! 2) The cake wasn't too sweet 3) The icing didn't have the granulated sugar texture 4) The flavors were so tasty and worked well together Tara was always very responsive to my emails inquiring about cake stand sizes, updates on headcount, ordering to-go containers for leftover cake, cake stand rentals and options. Throughout the process and time leading up to our wedding, we received our invoices via email, rental return reminders, and delivery time confirmations. I would definitely recommend stopping by for a tasting if you're in the market for a wedding or grooms cake. I've been eyeing my anniversary cake every time I open my freezer and my husband and I talk about ordering a cake from them for birthdays in the future too. read more

I recently gave this bakery my money $400 just for four small jars 12 tiramisu shooters 12 brownies .I will never do business with them again they were rude didn't listen and they lie to me .they just want their money and once you give her the money they don't want to work with you @ all. I kept calling to reassure everything was right Tara the manager kept getting attitude with me knowing that it was my wedding and I just wanted everything to be right. I never left a bad review or a good review not the type to judge people but if you want to use them for a wedding dessert bar keep your money or do it yourself is not worth it. This place is extremely upsetting. Our wedding was set for August 1, 2020 and the cake was paid in full April 13, 2020. Originally it was May 23, but they let us reschedule it to August 1 because Covid was at it worst. However, we had to cancel our August wedding because most of our family would not be able to attend due to Covid so we had a small ceremony in June. We asked Tara Little to reschedule the cake (I asked in June if we could do this) for December because we planned on having a reception with the cake then. We were told "there is a rescheduling fee of $175" and "because the decision is based on comfort level". The cake had been paid for, it's not like the cake had been made already. And she said the date in December was available, but wanted $175. For what? Who knows. I told her there was no reception in August and that we did not have another $175. She would literally be making a cake for no event. Her response "if you change your mind, please let me know or if you want a 6" small cake for later, let me know. Those are only $45". So we had no choice but to make the sad trip from College Station to Houston to pick up a cake meant for 65-70 people just for it to go to waste. My husband went inside to pick it up and the customer service was terrible. In the cost of the cake was a $45 delivery and set up fee, and when we called today asking for that back, the assistant said Tara would call us to discuss it and we never received a call. As far as the cake, HEB could have done just as well, if not better. The purple is completely uneven, and it just looks sad. I am thankful we did not have a reception because I would have been so embarrassed to have this as my wedding cake. I don't know if they made it sad looking because they knew we weren't having an event for it, or what. But now there is a very sad bride who when I think of my wedding cake, this is what I have to think of. A waste of cake and time. read more

After many, many cake tastings, we tried Bavarian Cakery. Wow! We fell in love with her cakes. I immediately booked her for my wedding. When the cake was cut, we had to do the bouquet and garter toss so by the time we made it back to the cake table all of the cake was GONE!!! I couldn't understand it but come to find out people went back for seconds and thirds. I can't believe we didn't get any of our cake but that tells you just how good these cakes are. Bavarian Cakery was the one who made our wedding cake! The cake came out beautifully! Exactly what I wanted and we got so many compliments on it. Even though Bavarian Cakery was undergoing changes, I met the new owners and they were just lovely. They forgot to put my husband and I's initial as a cake topper and when I mentioned about it, they had no problem giving me back some of the money that I already paid for and apologized for it. They were really professional and I am so glad I chose them. Their classic vanilla with the raspberry filling was delicious. We used them for our wedding in January and everyone LOVED the cake. The main cake was Bavarian cheesecake with whipped icing and we also had an extra sheet cake that was yellow cake with raspberry filling and the buttercream icing. It was beautiful AND delicious. Very disappointed with this place regarding customer service and cake quality. Originally our wedding was on May 23rd and was rescheduled to august 1st because we were hopeful things would look better by now. We had to cancel our wedding until further notice due to Covid-19 because my parents live in panama outside of the country and are on lock down. They didn't care about any of that and didn't even ask about the situation. And wanted $175 to reschedule a $300 cake even though we had already paid in full well before hand. They somehow tried to justify that because we rescheduled once when we legally were not even allowed to have our wedding that it was fair for them to mark up the cake 60% to reschedule again because it wasn't a presidential mandated order this time. (see email in picture) Not only that but they originally charged us a $45 "delivery fee" but we picked up the cake and I'm still working towards getting that refunded. When I called to ask about getting a refund the lady on the phone was extremely rude and said she'd have to see what she can do about it. Pictures of the $300 cake which would've been $500 with the delivery fee and rescheduling fee are below... Lets just say I'm actually glad that we didn't have this cake show up to our wedding because aside from the rude customer service... this cake is awful and embarrassing. My experience is from 11/2009, so a while back and perhaps just a terrible mistake or bad time for this business. However, it made our wedding day less than enjoyable, something had to go wrong, right?Had come across this bakery at one of the bridal shows at GRB. Fell in love with the sample, and being that my husband and I are both cheesecake fans, the Bavarian Cheesecake was a no brainier. Set up a tasting, everything was smooth. The owner, was out of town, and another lady filled in. Requested a two tiered cake (very small wedding), set up all the details for delivery at the church, left a deposit and went on our way. This was in September. Fast forward to the end of October, sent off the rest of the balance, check cleared, no issues. November comes--Received a call on Thursday, (getting married on Saturday) from the owner Elaine, asking where my final payment is. Uhmmmm... Ya'll cashed the check over 2 weeks ago. " oh.. Yeah, ok, I see that now...so when are you going to pick up the cake?" It's supposed to be delivered... "Oh! At LUMC?" Yes, on Louetta Rd.. "No problem, sorry, my parents both died, so I'm not all here". I expressed my sympathy, but it made me both feel awkward and worried about the phone call. I had no other option at that point. My parents paid the bill for this, and it was a splurge getting a $200 cake, deposit was non refundable and time was very short. Wedding day arrives, ceremony was at 3pm, reception to start at 4pm. Cake arrives on time, church wedding coordinator directed Elaine where to go, afterwords she comes in and comments on the rudeness of the cake person. My mom goes to check it out since I was getting my hair done. She comes back and seemed concerned cause there was a good sized smooshed section of frosting on the cake facing the outwards, nor was the cake topper on the cake. Thank goodness for moms, cause she rotated the cake and put the topper in herself. We paid extra for this delivery and set up. Ceremony comes and goes. Cake time! The damn thing was still FROZEN! Yes, frozen. Being unprepared for a popsicle cake, we didn't have a sharp knife available, but managed to cut slices to share with our guests. The taste was different, being that is was frozen. Can we say beyond disappointing? It gets worse. I wait about two weeks to address the ordeal with the owners, and let them know how unfortunate our experience was. Listed all the above issues from the start. The response was appalling. I received a hand written letter from the owner, Elaine. She refunded my delivery fee (never asked for any refunds), which was appreciated. However, she stated that since she was dealing with the deaths of her parents, she was distracted and that she hoped that one day I'd know what she was going through, among other unprofessional things. How is that for customer service? You hope my folks die, thanks! I wouldn't go as far as saying they ruined our day, but it was a let down. It was in writing, what time/date/delivery was expected. And we got a frozen cake with a dent in it. Rude response and I felt that she was lashing out when she was called out on her poor service. Needless to say, once the cake was thawed out (after wedding snack), it was delicious, but our guests were not able to share that with us. I guess since we didn't spends thousands on our cake, we weren't important or forgotten/rushed. It's a shame too, since we won't go back for anniversary cakes or recommend them. read more

After seeing them at a bridal extravaganza and tasting their cakes years ago, of course I wanted to have this business do a cake for my wedding. Was the cake good? Yes. For the price and the horrible customer service I received? No! I know they over charged me, but I wasn't going to fight it. The venue I went with had the wedding cake included. I was just going to do a groomsman cake with this business. She was insistent that I tell my venue to change my contract so Bavarian could do my wedding cake. I told her no. When she sent me an invoice it was overpriced from what we discussed, but it was late and I didn't have time to go elsewhere. I didn't pay the extra 100 for delivery because one of my friends lived nearby and they could get it for me. That's when the run around happened. I was told I could only pick it up at a specific time and day before the wedding. When I finally made it work, I was told we couldn't pick it up because it wasn't ready and that I would have to pick it up the day of the wedding only at a specific time. There I was scrambling trying to figure it out, but not before I was reminded I could do delivery for $100. Was the cake nice? Yes, the top of it. The colors were not what I asked for and the writing was only piped on like a novice decorator did that instead of using some type of lettering made of fondant or something else that didn't look cheap. God knows it wasn't. Oh and it developed a very noticeable bubble right in the front. Made for some bit so nice pictures, that I ended up cropping. In the end the cake I got with my venue was far more delicious and far less cheaper and prettier. I'm so disappointed with this Cakery especially since from the moment I got engaged I knew I wanted them to make a cake for me. Never again and I discourage all from having high hopes of a pleasant experience with this Cakery. read more

Bavarian Cakery was the perfect choice for my wedding cake! I went to a tasting and picked the white cake because I wanted a traditional wedding cake. I showed them a picture of how I wanted the cake to look and they were able to mimic the design of the cake very well! They added their own touches to the cake design and I got a lot of compliments on how gorgeous the cake was! They made the cake big enough so that the top layer could be saved and frozen to eat at our one year wedding anniversary. The cake had the perfect amount of moisture and flavor, and the icing was also delicious! You cannot go wrong with this cake vendor! We highly reccomend the Bravarian Cheese Cake, it is astounding. The start of our customer service experience was a bit rocky. We did a nice sit down to hash out details and get an estimate on cake and floral arrangements, but never received an estimate or any word back on floral. So we went with a different vendor for that and the cake details somehow got lost or wasn't communicated/passed on to the right people. Once that was all figured everything went perfectly as planned. So i'll start off by saying that They deserve one star only because i got a quick response. I emailed them last night and woke up today with a response. However, the enployee that responded was just plain rude. Her name is Tara Little. I emailed about a cake for 300 people and since i am still lookig for a wedding cake, i dont even know what they cost and how the pricing is calculated. I asked for a cake within my budget of X. She replied in the rudest way possible telling me to be realistic and that IM asking a "gourmet" bakery to make a custom cake for X per person. She topped it all off by adding, "it might be more beneficial to get a machine made cake from Sams or Costco." Just because you work at a bakery and decorate cakes for a living and you know how much things cost, doesnt mean everyone does. As a vendor, YOU should be able to communicate POLITELY with your potential customer and give them a better understanding rather than reply as if you are the most popular bakery in the world. I honestly don't know how you have a business running. However, to those who are considering ordering from this bakery, i only delt with this Tara lady. Other employees might have manners.
