I have the highest elite status with Hertz and only choose Hertz, but there was no Hertz near the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles. I chose Sixt for the location being near LA Live. I was impressed. I was in and out fast. The car availability was top notch. The cars were also very clean and newer than Hertz. The office itself was spotless and easy to navigate, which made the whole process even smoother. The staff really helped me and I am extremely pleased with everything Sixt has to offer. At the SUXT office, I'm told "sorry, sir, we don't have your car. The system makes mistakes. But we can upgrade you to an SUV" -- but not a FREE upgrade, a "discounted" upgrade that's still over twice the price of the car I'd booked. So this is either total technical ineptitude or a naked bait-and-switch. Either way, it's the worst customer service I've seen at a car rental facility, and that's saying something. Rented a vehicle from Sixt 2 years ago. Unfortunately damage did occur during the rental period. A month later we were invoiced for the damage claim went through insurance should have been paid off. Money was definitely withdrawn from Sixt. Two years later the company proceeds to trying and collect the same damage fee that was already paid again. I'm actively fighting this case because I'm not repaying for something money was already with drawn from. I will never be renting from this company again ever again. What's with the low reviews? I accompanied my friend to this location and we were greeted right from the beginning. The entire process of walking in and my friend getting the car was pain free and seamless. I was amazed by their plethora of luxury vehicles. What blew me away was the attentive staff members. That was certainly the cherry on top. One of the staff members named Arthur was extremely knowledgeable. I should have read the reviews first but I saw a 2023 BMW for $90 and it seemed very enticing. The walk-in lobby is confusing. There were 6 take-in desks but only one line hidden behind a wall. I was second in line but they sent me to the very end. When I was finally helped, they gave me a return time of 2:30 pm the next day. I was prepaid. When I returned the car, I parked in the back of a line of cars and waited for 15 minutes but no one helped me. I was in wrong line. I eventually learned where to go and finally finished my return process at 3:04 pm. They charged me for a whole extra 24 hours! $113.29! I wrote them back but they said it was late and that was the policy! Unbelievable!!! UPDATE: Sixt Management resolved my dispute and I received a refund for $113.29. Thank you Aya! read more

RENTER BEWARE. I rented a car from them at JFK. The car was fine. Had it for a week and brought it back with no issues. As I checked out, the woman asked me to wait while she photographed the car. Then she gave me the thing to sign, saying, "There's just a little scratch, no big deal, but didn't want you to be confused if you got an email." I should have heeded that red flag. Next thing I know I'm getting a bill for over $534 to fix this tiny scratch that any other company would consider a non-issue. I asked for photos of the car BEFORE my rental which have not been provided. Instead, I was sent a claim form saying, "By signing the rental agreement, you confirmed the above-mentioned vehicle was handed over to you in a damage-free condition or with the pre-existing damage(s) listed on your contract. Upon return of the vehicle, new damage was discovered and documented." I SIGNED THE RENTAL AGREEMENT AT THE DESK. HOW COULD I HAVE KNOWN IF THE CAR HAD DAMAGE OR NOT?? Wow. I've never had a worse customer service interaction. When I arrived, the woman at the desk--Sierra--said they didn't have the car I reserved. I reserved an SUV but they could only offer a mini van. Not ideal but If that was all that went wrong, whatever. When she scanned my driver's license, which was something I already did online with Sixt the day before on my own, it came back "red" which I was told means potentially fraudulent. Okay? I've had this driver's license for years and never had a problem in countless other situations--airports, bars, other rental companies. Then I was told the reservation was CANCELLED due to this. No other means to try to figure out the problem. I asked to speak to the manager. She was the manager. Oh. Okay. Could she call someone? Nope, no one to call. So I'm just screwed out of a car? Yep. Tried to plead my case but was just met with stone-faced one-word answers in corporate speak. Nothing to be done. Had to call an Uber on my own dime and am now screwed for a whole trip this weekend. Sixt doesn't care. Their customer service line was also complete waste. They verified the block on my license but said the block department takes up to five days to get back to you. Absolutely unhelpful for the situation. Technology is supposed to make processes like this simpler, but when you remove the human element and don't train your employees to be able to handle things when situations like this arise, it makes for a supremely frustrating experience. Definitely should have read the reviews about this place beforehand!! All the scam and stealing money reviews are 1000% true!! I'll try to make this as short as possible but how short can you really make a 6 month battle to get back $4000 you were wrongfully charged! So, brother in law and husband rented car end of February-2 week rental. Returned car after 2 weeks and everything is good (so we thought) 2 months later (in May!) I get a charge for over $5000. After a month of run around and refusal to provide any documentation, they say we didn't return the car for 2 months and left it in Salt Lake City?! Whaaaat??? It was returned to the studio city location we got it from exactly 2 weeks after picking it up!!! They did research and recognized it was an error and said they would refund-couple weeks later-no refund. I dispute with cc company and they respond to dispute that we had the car for 2 months (AFTER ALREADY ADMITTING WE DIDNT AND IT WAS AN ERROR ON THEIR END!) so cc company won't refund now! Go into branch and they also claim it was an error on their end and the employee we returned it to even remembers us and confirmed!! Got an email from manager stating the car was returned after 2 weeks and he would remediate the problem and after another month of texts and saying he had to escalate this to a dept in Germany, finally a refund was approved, that was over 3 weeks and NO REFUND STILL. This is $4000 that we don't owe (total was over $5000 and I have no problem aging what's owed for the actual rental but the exact refund is $3906.07!!!!!!!) no one can help. No one has answers. Don't call back when they say. I literally have documentation that they admitted fault and still can't get $4000 back!!!!!!!!! Paying interest on the card every month Becuase I don't have money to pay it down!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! I came in Saturday with a friend and watched her be treated like garbage from a girl who works there. The young man was very helpful but his colleague was acting like a little Napoleon. I am an elite member with hotels bc I travel so much for work and was going to order my own rental long term but after I saw the ridiculous circus my friend went through I decided there was no way. They didn't have her car she ordered or even one in it's class. Instead of giving her a courtesy call to pick it up elsewhere, she had to drive another hour to LAX where we were assured it would be. Again it wasn't there so she was forced into a higher contract for a lot more money and all she got was a lame half apology. she was told that they would comp her but no one has even called to apologize or fix the situation so I came here to explain what happened. read more

*Lenghty review* You get one chance to make a first impression,so this impression only made me not want to ever rent here again. First, I had a pre-paid reservation which means don't have any sort of emergency that caused you not to be able to fulfill your rental agreement, you won't receive any sort of refund. Yet, they still require a $200 deposit. Second, the rental location is not user friendly and that was evident because I arrived to pick up the rental only to find the employee had gotten himself locked out of the office. Once access to the office was gained I went through the process of supplying all required documentation then be told I had to have my picture taken. I've never heard of such, so be warned and prepared. Jorge (George) said it was because of people fraudulently renting well maybe you should have different security measures in place. Last, we're still in a Pandemic so the sanitizing of each vehicle should be top notch. Nope! The outside of the car was dirty and the inside there was food wrappers down between the seats plus dog hair all over. I was given a Toyota Corolla as an upgrade but it was far from that. On the return of the vehicle it was just as bad an interaction. When asked if the tank was filled up , the answer was no because it was given without a full tank. Plus, you get no sort of credit. I guess their idea of sanitizing is a can of Lysol since that's what the employee had in her hand. read more

I rented a vehicle for a week from this SIXT location and it was a breeze. I booked the rental thru Orbitz which gave me the option for the best price and added the insurance thru Orbitz as well (only covers anything you do to the vehicle, not if someone hits you or uninsured motorist). When I arrived for my rental, the gentleman named, Andre, greeted and assisted me on my rental and ran thru the insurance policies that they offered. He was very knowledgeable and understanding of the package that I had purchased thru Orbitz. Andre suggested to add on the SIXT liability insurance to make the rental run as full coverage, which I did, just to be safe. He was very understanding on my needs (since we were going in a road trip), and offered a bigger vehicle at a steep discount but unfortunately I decline. I gave my deposit ($200), signed for the vehicle and Andre got my vehicle ready all within 5-10 mins. Vehicle was very clean, smelled new and had a full tank of gas. Upon returning the vehicle, drop off was easy, gave the keys to one of the associates in the garage, he overlooked the vehicle (checked for damages and to see if it had a full tank of gas), and I had my receipt in my email within 15 mins. On August 25, 2023 at 14:00 I rented a car from Sixt. This was a car subscription, so I have the car for a month. I collected from the LA downtown branch. On collecting the car, I was told that they didn't have the correct car at the branch and asked me to drive one of their cars to the LAX branch to collect mine. I obviously refused to do this. The main issue with the car they gave me is that the driver door will often not open, so I have had to climb over and out of the passenger door to exit the vehicle. This has happened three times and is incredibly unsafe. On taking it to a dealership to be checked over they told me that the alignment is off and/ or the latch is broken. This should have been picked up in a vehicle inspection by Sixt and the car not rented out in this manner. After 13 days of communication about the faulty vehicle and then over 2 hours on the phone trying to get help, Sixt asked me to stay in a town I do not live or work for 6 hours, on a day I should be working, to wait for a tow. I could not do this. They then asked me to drive the car to Las Vegas - a 6 hour drive and over 500 miles in an unsafe car - to get a replacement. This is mileage they want to charge me for. Early on in my rental I also noticed that the air pressure in one of the tires had gone down slightly. An alert that the washer fluid was low came up on the first day. The next day an alert saying the air pressure was low in a different tire. I topped this up and carried on with the job I had hired the car for. This became something I had to correct continuously, topping up different tire's air pressure. I was working in remote Utah and had to drive over a hundred miles to correct this, mileage for which Sixt intend to charge me. Sixt's 'helpline' asked me to pay for the tires to be replaced for which they would reimburse me. All I asked was for the mileage to be taken off the booking, I didn't even ask for a refund. read more

After we fought off "the damage waiver" added on to our car that we didn't sign! I checked the car before I returned it, there was no flat tires or nails on it. I should've just let them jack that extra 50 dollars, now I have pay almost a thousand bucks to deal with this. Avoid this company please before this happens to you and your family. This is a bad bad company like a bad contractor would put a lien on your house! They will non stop haunting you until you lose thousands of dollars! I am afraid of them now. I don't know what to do at this point so they can stop messing with us. Next time if you rent car from them. Make sure you clearly read everything before you sign, also when you return the car ask for INSPECTION and let them print it out! Do not rent a vehicle from Sixt. I was charged over $750 for a 2 inch paint scratch on a filthy mini van that had numerous dents and scratches all over it. The vehicles are in bad shape and the shuttle service is terrible. Stick with the other major rental agencies especially at LAX. They are subpar operation and they will overcharge you. Arrived to pick up an SUV type vehicle to fit my luggage, and was told there were only 2 two-door sports cars available. I asked for a refund as these two door card did not fit with the vehicle class I pre-paid for, and was handed their manager's contact email. I emailed the manager twice, and got a reply after 2 weeks, saying they couldn't do anything about it. Currently I'm still in the process of trying to get a refund through their customer service line about a month after my initial reservation date.
