Stay away from this company, and I repeat, stay away. If you decide to do it, make sure you take a good video and pictures of the whole vehicle and probably you want to get insurance on it. For me, I never get insurance on my vehicles and I have never had a problem until I went here. I'm assuming that they are able to get away with making up stories that there was an accident or there was occurred damages when the car has been returned. We barely used the car and we definitely did not get any damages. However, they tried to open a claim saying that we damaged the car, but after I showed them the video and pictures I took they quickly changed their minds. Definitely stay away from these crooks. And another problem we had is the car that I purchased initially, was not available when I got there. So they charged me extra to upgrade. This place is a joke. read more

If someone suggests you rent from this company, run the other way. I rented a particular car (station wagon I needed)- when I got there they told me they didn't have it, but they could give me a different one for a higher price. Since it was too late for me to change my mind, I just paid it. Then the lady at the counter said "I very strongly recommend you take a video of the entire car for damage before you leave the parking garage." Well, enough said, I suppose, but yes, I took video in their dark parking garage, and then later when I returned it they went over it with a magnifying glass. they wanted to charge me $400 for a tiny scrape on the rim that was there ahead of time, they asked me to show them the video proving it. It was apparently not bright enough for me to prove it was there. Oh did I mention I had to bring the car back bc the computer wasn't working and when I did they said "let me guess it was the volvo wagon" and laughed because they knew it did this. Was there anything they tried to do to make this right, including just charging me for the car I actually rented? Nope. This was my first time straying from Europcar;c the prices say they are cheaper but no, they are not after the scams. I will never ever rent from Sixt again, and I will make sure all my friends know to stay away from this scammy slimy company. read more

I've held off on writing a review for Sixt because of the horrible reviews I saw on this location. I've been waiting for my "bad" experience. Well, 4 rentals later and I'm still waiting. The good: Short lines (for me at least). Great cars (much nicer than Avis at the same price) Fast return Basic inspection (This is notable because when you return to Avis in Brussels they get the dogs out to help inspect, looking for anything at all to charge you for. Here was a standard inspection you'd get in the US). The bad: Upselling. Its annoying. I mean, I already bought the zero dollar insurance plan (work is paying). Now I need rim, tire and windshield insurance? Come on man! Here's why I really like it. My total for a solid car (BMW 1 series, Audi, Volvo) is the exact same I'd pay at Avis but for a slightly less quality car (Renault, Ford, Opel) AND that's with the BIG insurance ($0 liability for damage). Had a reservation for 2 days and arrived to the counter with 15 mins late. Other clients being in front of us, the agent not only said that the car rented was not available but we have to paid 30 euros extra per day for a upper class... First of all, in our reservation it is mentioned that we receive the car we choose OR similar... why would we have to paid extra?? Second, the agent at Zaventem was very condescending to us. Third, calling another agent for clarification, was at the end no help and only made us cancel our reservation. Apparently the agent at the airport had indicated in the system that we were over an hour late... what a lie and lake of professionalism! I am not surprised why Sixt has such a bad reputation... Looking at their Facebook page, Yelp on Google review, Sixt does not have good reviews. For our concern, this will be a NEVER AGAIN situation! read more

I really, really like Sixt. I keep saying it and I will continue, because I have never (in years of renting through them) had a negative experience. No line, promptly greeted with several bottles of water throughout the process. The counter service was speedy, and the attendant was absolutely awesome. My travel buddy wanted the lowdown on insurances and the attendant very patiently and coherently explained all options. Getting to the garage was no big deal, its no farther than most airports, a walk of less than 5 minutes from the counter. The garage itself is super crammed however, you need to be a decent driver just getting out of the thing without damaging your car. I ended up with a Mercedes, which was nice. Also convenient with these higher class vehicles is the included GPS, instead of having to pay $12/day for it on its own. For those not used to driving in Europe; make sure you choose a relatively small car for ease of parking (trust me on this one), and request a Diesel if you can help it. Also, if you cannot drive a manual you must request an automatic..sticks are the norm. read more

At this point their attempt put nearly $3000 in charges on our card and caused an over limit card lock out. Very awesome to get stuck in Belgium with 100euro and no credit card to use. Why be Plat of you have to wait 15 people in line, in a country where sign/drive doesn't really exist. No stars for this poorly managed operation that hasn't studied their reservations schedule. He counter girl needs to call someone for each person trying to rent. Doesn't cut it! There is a long walk to the garage- hasn't changed for 20 years- regardless of rental outfit. Prepare to walk up a rough concrete ramp with uneven pieces of metal laid down to ease bumps. read more

I'm a frequent client and a golden member of SIXT for several years, and I used to rent out its premium vehicles all over the world in my trips. This June, I booked a BMW in Brussels, Belgium and was charged €4600 for it, including a €3000 deposit (res. #9469628120). Afterwards, Sixt didn't release this deposit, although the customer support claims they did. Moreover, it took us several weeks to consider the refund issue (with no result!) due to the fact that they were unable to discuss it over the phone and kept silence for a week each time I replied to them. In two months, I travelled to Seville, Spain and requested a BMW again (res. #9902431060). I received a confirmation via email and called Sixt customer support in Spain to explicitly make sure it was valid since I couldn't find the reservation in my profile. They convinced me that everything was all right and the vehicle was waiting for me. But when I arrived to Sixt at Seville airport, the manager said that my account had been blocked, and I was banned from getting a car. At that time, I tried to contact their CS again, but all they did was forwarding my call from one so-called specialist to another, and finally I was offered to call them back later in the morning!! It was the department for urgent cases, by the way. So, they let me down at the very unsuitable moment in Seville at night. After I had contacted the CS with this issue later, it turned out that my profile had been blocked 'as a result of an outstanding debt in relation to the rental in Brussels'. You see? This is they who haven't returned me money, not me. But even if we imagine that the problem is in my bank and I just can't see the refund, then why am I blocked If I don't owe them money?? And they didn't even notify me about that. The fact that I'm still waiting for my €3000 is just a minor problem. The most disgusting things are that I wasn't informed about that issue while I expected to get my BMW in Seville and that none of the representatives is able to notice the blocking or, at least, react efficiently when you call them relying on their competency. This is a relatively new player in the rental car market in Europe. I tried them for the first time on my recent trip over to Belgium. Reserving online was a piece of cake and the best part is they generally have BMWs to rent. This is a bit different than avis or herz. Decent prices. However I will say that when I returned my car- I was told that I had damage on the car. I had no idea. I know I didn't hit anything while I drove the car around. The challenge is that it was under the front bumper on the passenger side. Something I could never have noticed when I took possession of the car but the way it was parked- it was cramped and rather dark.(I even walked around the entire car.) Thank god for AMEX; they are working the claim on my behalf now. Either way- I'd rent from them again. Next time I'm going to take more time looking at the car- up and down!!! read more

We made reservation for a large car with at least 7 seats. Sixt provided us with a Citroën Grand C4 Picasso. From the start, the car appeared old and worn. The tires were under pressured. It had over 17.000km, which is a lot for a rental car. The rep told us that was the only car of its size available at the time and if anything were to happen, Sixt will replace it in no time. After a long 12-hour flight and with two young children, we were exhausted and accepted the car. What a mistake that was. After a few days of driving, one of the tires blew out while on the freeway. Luckily, we were less than a km from a gas station. Once safely parked, we noticed there was a big hole on the tire and there is no replacement. We called Sixt and was told someone will call us right back. One hour later and a few more calls to their office, we finally received a call telling us a tow truck was coming. The tow truck took another 2 hours. We were then told to take a taxi (at our own cost) to the nearest Sixt office to get a replacement vehicle. At the Sixt office, we received a replacement that was below the category we had originally paid for because (again) they had no other cars available. If we wanted the same category, we would need to come back the next day for an exchange. We received no compensation or apology for the trouble we went through because of Sixt's lack of quality control on their cars. But we did receive the bill for the tow truck that Sixt promptly charged our credit card for. Sixt failed miserably at customer service and never again will we want to deal with such a company. read more

I have rented in the past with Sixt in other countries and had a good experience but my last experience from Belgium made me change my opinion about Sixt and decided to write this review to let others know and to help them to avoid making same mistakes like me. I returned the car in Charleroi airport, thinking that everything is fine and 1 week after I received a 195EUR damage invoice for some scratches on the back of the mirror. When I returned the car, Sixt employ inspected the car, told me "Perfect, please sign here" & I did without asking him to show me what he recorded. I even reported a sensor error for Tyre pressure which was there the entire period and the guy said "don`t worry". At the pickup of the car, I observed several damages of the car, but after 30 min waiting in the queue and few minutes walk to the car in the parking, I decided to do not return to the desk to ask for a review of the damages. Which was proved to be a bad decision!!! Now I am told by Sixt that I accepted the damages, which is not true and I feel so cheated. So my advice to people going to rent: check damages once you receive the car and make sure all are recorded in your contract. When you return the car, ask to read the report before you sign (independent what you are told) to avoid later surprises. I thought you can face these kind of experiences when renting from small companies, but it looks like I was wrong! read more

Despite many horrible reviews (but they are also there for the competition) chose to go with Sixt for 8 days of travelling in and around Belgium. Booked a Hyundai i10 which, upon arrival to the desk on the airport arrival floor, was apparently not available. The lady said I would get a higher class, and after making a call to their office in the parking building itself, told me I would get a BMW 1 series which is a very proper upgrade. I was proposed a full insurance with 0 own risk, I had already reserved the 300 EUR own risk package. I refused at first, but she proposed it again after telling me I would get the upgrade. Since the price difference was reasonable and because I got a car that I was already considering while making the booking a few days earlier anyway, I went for it. I signed the contract, was handed the keys, the location was easy to find and went on my way. The car had about 17.000 kilometers on it and was even still a bit wet from cleaning right before I drove off with it. Car was the standard version with no options from BMW, but this is considering the upgrade I got absolutely no negative thing - still a very nice car. After 8 days and 815 km of pure driving pleasure (i wish i had the money to buy one myself, damn) I put 41 liters of diesel in the car (conclusion: the car was in top-condition to achieve such a low fuel consumption for mixed usage) and I delivered it back. Very clear signage at the airport, impossible to miss. I was greeted immediately by friendly staff and was asked if everything went well. This is the only minus and why I don't give 5 stars: I wish they checked the car together with me, because the next few days I was worried they would still charge something stupid to my credit card - especially after reading the horrible reviews which mostly involve sneaky charges. Instead, the staff just asked my keys and told me I was fine to go. However I would have preferred to do the checks together with the staff to be sure all was well (because the 0 own risk insurance does not cover everything). A few days later, I saw on my credit card statement that on the same day when I returned the car, they released the deposit and only charged what they should have, so all is well. On the other hand, I did not propose myself to wait until the checks were done. I could have also just done that, and that would have been fine I suppose. +Friendly, professional staff and everything easy to find +A few days later it appeared on my credit card statement that final billing was processed immediately and correctly after returning the car +Got an upgrade a few categories higher because no other vehicles were available +Freshly cleaned, relatively new and well-maintained vehicle (=low fuel consumption) +-Arrival staff should have proposed to do the return check together - however it is also convenient that you can just hand in your keys and leave. -To my surprise after reading horrible reviews online, nothing! read more

I will write in English so I can express myself better. 1: I had planned to go to Alsace and Switzerland with that car, but had to turn around when in Alsace as the car was going all over the road due to the snow and slippery road... It was seriousely dangerous to drive... The car had Pirelli tires, and obviousely they were racing tires, which would have been great on dry surface, or even just rain.. But i am not psychic and didn't know it would be snowing the next day, Friday 22nd. 2: On the way back from Alsace, I had to go through Reims, and added another 225 kms, because the law in Luxembourg and Germany forbids you to drive without snow tires after October &st.. I wish someone at your office would have told me so at the time of pick up, and not the police of Luxembourg and Germany on the way down to Switzerland, whom told me to not go through their countries on the way back.. I spent 80 euros on peage, plus gas and 3 hours time, thank you.. 3: I still had to go to Geneva, so I purchased a plane ticket, I figured it was much safer than risking getting kill on the snowy road, I hope you will understand my point of view on that matter. So on Monday 25th, I brought the car back to the airport. 4: Your technician checked the car and gas with me down at the return. I explained the situation and they said I needed to go upstairs to the counter, so I did. Wow, frankly, I am astonished by the way everything was handled from that moment... You want a definition of crook, please read below.. 5: I explained the whole thing to the person behind the counter. There was no compassion whatsoever, and I am sure she could have care less if I would have crashed this car with me and my family on a snowy road somewhere.. So I said I cannot possibly ride that car to Switzerland, she offered to change the tires, and of course charge me for the extra 40 euros a day for those.. No thank you, at that time I had already purchased a plane ticket to go there alive, sorry. I was told it was my responsabilty to a) check the weather before I rent a car even coming from the USA b)inform them that I would be travelling in Luxembourg, Germany, France. I was told it wasn't their responsabilty to inform me that it would rain or snow in the next day or week, that in Luxembourg you cannot drive after October 1st without snow tires. Question? How many rentals out of your airport location in Bruxelles actually stay in Belgium? You honestly believe that ALL your rentals stay driving in Belgium.. WOW are you kidding me? It was ALL MY fault.. Finally she said you are good to go. I said thank you very much I just need my final receipt. So she said she could not print one to give me??! The technician didn't inspect the car yet! I was with her for ten minutes and of course the car has been inspected.. But obviousely giving me a receipt was not in the plan, for the following reason.. 6: I got my new receipt, had to beg for my original receipt that I gave the girl when I returned the car, and compared both, to find out that they were of the same amount!!! Remember I rented the car for seven days, but used it only four.. I rent car often, and I always been charged for the number of days I used the car, at least until now, and I thought that it would be the same , especially after what happened to me on the way down to Alsace. But no, not with this company. I argue, in vain, and left with paying for seven days. If I didn't ask for my receipt? I would not have realized that I was being charged the seven days. Could you not just be honest and just say so??? This was disgusting!! 7:I decided to keep the car, I was paying for it so I might as well keep it for the next three days and return it at the end of the week rental. Then I thought I was dreaming, the girl told me -you have a plane ticket you don't need the car!!! WOW!! To recap: You exist or existed because you have customers, like me, remeber, we pay your salary... If you speak to me in Flammish? I do not understand, and frankly this is very impolite, I speak French and English, that should be sufficient, no?? If you want charge me for seven days although i used the car four days, you should have had the honesty to let me know, REALLY!! If I am responsible for the weather, the driving law of the countries Luxembourg and Germany, that driving without snow tires is forbidden after October 1st, what are you getting paid for when I speak to you at the counter, besides putting my life and family in danger?? And finally, no Madam, your website did not tell me that I would be charged per week, because when I rented this car, the price changed with the number of days that you enter in the computer, you see you rent four days, pay four days, rent five, pay five, etc... so please don't take me for an idiot telling me that is not true. OK you made 200 euros, by not accepting me to return the car early, but you lost me forever, and you gain this great revue that I will happily share on the internet. read more
