The enrollment advisor Elizabeth was very misleading, nor was she transparent about the enrollment process! She rushed my Son to take an assessment test and DID NOT let him know the importance of the assessment, I asked her was there something he could study before and she said NO!!! And when he missed it by only 2 questions, THEN she mentions you have to wait 6 months before you can retake it!! That's a long time for an assessment test that was only supposed to be an evaluation!! I feel her intentions were to set him up to FAIL, nor would she show him his scores, which also makes me suspicious of her intentions! We will be taking further actions. read more

SJVC needs new advisors specifically Daniel he's so unprofessional expects his students to do all the work for him gave him 4 months to look for a job now going on the 5th month and still jobless after emailing Gabby she never replies back to me I believe overall SJVC went down hill after 2024 they need better staff that actually care to see their students succeed in a career they went for. So after completing a 10-month program in HVAC and receiving EPA certification, a local company wants to pay what comes out to be $10 an hour because they don't cover travel time and they don't pay overtime and sfrom Lancaster to Santa Barbara and back each day so you work 14 hours a day in the summer for what? Such a great, thoughtful program! I attended in October 2019 and finished July 2020. I graduated in Clinical Medical Assisting and I loved every second of it. All the instructors were amazing and super knowledgeable. All the instructors were very professional and always there to help you throughout every single step you can think of. If you focus on being an excellent student, and always have professionalism in mind, there is no doubt you will succeed. I am currently enrolled in the BSRT program. It is very challenging but I feel it is well worth it. I do feel they try and work with you and your needs. The professors are highly educated and the staff i have interacted with are great. The reason why I did not give 5 stars is because currently tech support cannot help me with the logging issues I am having with accessing my personal information, like transcripts, financial aid info and schedule. It's been 2 weeks and still no resolution. However, I do believe that the field of respiratory will be requiring advanced degrees soon I needed to get it done. I've had a mostly positive experience at SJVC, Lancaster. I am currently in my 3rd module and am successfully achieving my goals with a 4.0 GPA. I will say that I have retained certain information in some of my classes more than I have with others and that I've learned more with certain teachers than I have with others but I do believe that this program is providing a curriculum that is helping me to become knowledgeable in this field and that it will give me the tools I need to become a successful medical assistant. read more

If i could give this place no stars i would. You will pay around $20K for a 2 yr degree then go and make $9/hr with the job u get. The lady who is the campus director is fake and talks down to the students. She thinks we are all below her. She treats everyone like they are children when some of us are parents. A lot of the good teachers left b/c they said they could not take her, they weren't getting enough hrs and was underpaid. Attend at ur own risk, u will sign your financial freedom away. Suck it up and go to AVC for 2 years for $6K instead of here for 14 months and $20K. None of the students are referring this place to friends and family, not worth it. I attended the HVAC-R program and received my Associates degree through this school in approximately 14 months. The staff and instructors were very friendly and always available for questions. I feel prepared to work in my chosen field if I was to pursue a career in this but at the moment I have a different course of work. I used my Post 9-11 GI Bill and this is a very veteran friendly school. Highly recommend if not looking to go to college right away and need a skill to go to work. read more

where do I begin I gave that school $17,000 & nine months of my life and I went through everything hell and high water not only that I clocked all my extern hours in two different sites because I was pulled from one by the career service guy Ivan and put into another one. Ivan lost my 60 hours that I had from my first one and then lied and said that he didn't know where they were and I didn't give them to him basically to save his job because he knows that the dean does her investigations and knows that she does not play so basically to save his ass and his job he's going to ruin my life so this review is not going to be positive at all because I've had ups and downs at the school and it's like going to high school all over again. so the day after I had turned in my final time sheet from clocking my final hours and extern the day after two students called me to let me know that the school basically kind of told them almost the same thing but not really basically told one of my friends that she didn't complete a course or something and then another one of my friends has to complete a whole mod because the teacher they let go didn't turn in her stuff properly I don't know it's not my business but my tea is that I was told that even though I went through all this hell going to school and spinning 17 grand and spinning wasting 9 months of my life now I'm being told that I can't graduate until those hours that Ivan lost are found tell me where does this make sense. and then I called and left a message a voicemail on the Dean's voicemail Ms Johnson and no response nobody has returned the phone call or nothing and I am furious and I am ready to take this to the president of the school because there are more negative reviews on that school just alone and I wish that I would have done my research way ahead of time. now as for the instructors I'm not really going to have anything negative to say I had no problems no issues with learning being taught things that I need to know I don't have an issue with the dean Miss Johnson because she has had my back and she has stuck her neck out for me several times but I do notice that she has someone on her staff who basically can't take responsibility for losing people's hours because now with me not there he "IVAN" have every rain to be able to go to the dean and be like oh well I did my part and blah blah blah I seemed to hear that a lot from that school. like some of them that have had complaints with the well I've done my part well when someone basically leaves the salon environment cuz they want to go into the medical field to better in their life and someone else's and then their hopes and dreams are getting fed to them and then like when they're finally finished they're done they get a phone call saying oh by the way we can't let you graduate until these papers are turned in papers that I never received so like I said I'm not going to sit here and talk down on the school because it wasn't the school that screwed me over, it was Ivan from the career services department. if you ask me this school is very informative yeah there's drama and whatever but I mean I had no issue with that my issue is the with the career services department messing up people's information their paperwork you know like people you know a lot of people don't have money and don't have the luxury to be able to live these extravagant lifestyles and whatever so you don't see it when we sacrifice our time like the dean says when we sacrifice our time to attend this school you know I'm saying like don't come at us with some b******* when were already done it finished and that's all I'm going to say on that. read more

I just want to start off with this is the best school I've ever been to, I've had tours to different medical schools in the area and I'm so happy I chose SJVC Lancaster. Mrs Moreno is the BEST instructor. She really cares about her students and their education. Mrs King, Mrs G are also amazing instructors. I'm so happy with the time I spent on campus and everything I learned. This school is everything they promote they are, even more. Brittney is my career advisor and she is absolutely awesome, she never left me in the dark when it came to my extern. She got to know my personality and what specialty I was going for and she delivered. While at extern she still maintained good communication while I was still finishing school. The dean is great as well,Mr. Jackson is great! He really is a dean that is involved in the students education and he hears us out when we need something, his open door policy is always appreciated. I'll be done with extern in 2 weeks and I honestly can't say i did it all by myself, if it wasn't for the great instructors and staff at SJVC I would've lost hope in ever finishing. Where do I start.... okay, so let me be clear the only reason they are even getting one star is because of Mr. Devera the impact this man had on my life will forever change the way I look at life and how I will go forward in my Career and education thank you so much sir and you will forever have my love and respect!!.....With that said, this institution is absolutely horrible. I went through my courses with the understanding that everything was paid for and taken care of. Yes, I had to make some payments but we were okay other wise. I was told I could get my associates here and that if I wanted too. I could try the 7 month certificate program first then move over just so I could get my footing and then move if I wanted to. BOY WAS I WRONG! I was two weeks into my class and then all of the BA degree students were called in to a meeting and told they could get their degrees but they would be the last class for now. I was so upset because that was my goal to switch and what angered me even more was that everyone knew this change was coming but not once told anyone who was signing up that this change was happening. They lied and said you could change knowing full well I wouldn't be able to.. Now the money part. When I signed up I had a financial aid lady whose name I cannot remember help sign me up. Every month My mother and myself were getting calls because we had to resign papers and Bring in paper work.. over and over and over again...ALL 7 months I was there. They were still trying to get my paperwork together. Final I am getting ready for my exit interview and at this point they have a new financial aid lady name Susan and she told me ( Frankly your paperwork is a complete mess and nothing was filed right) for 3 weeks she worked on my paperwork to try and get it filed right and then when we finally met again I was told I had to pay 8,500 dollars out of pocket.. Now, IF SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD ME IN THE BEING THAT THIS WAS WHAT I WAS GOING TO PAY I WOULD HAVE NEVER SIGNED UP!!. I was under that understanding that everything was good to go. Then I am told I have to pay it before I can walk the stage. After 7 months of hard work your telling me because YOUR EMPLOYEE didn't finish my PAPERWORK properly and because YOUR EMPLOYEE gave me False information telling me everything thing was good for MONTHS! then I find out that now I AM responsible for YOUR mistakes. I was so floored. They then said I could sign a contract that says I will pay them back on a payment plan.. " a loan" from the college as a "courtesy". I stated I didn't want to take the loan and I was basically told "oh, well you will still have to pay us back." How is this fair? How is this right? I couldn't give them back the $8,500 right then and I couldn't give back 7 months or the teaching so with tears in my eyes I signed the loan to pay them back 8,500 dollars 285 every paycheck. I wanted to walk the stage I felt I had earned it and I did. I cannot stand the fact I was lied to then forced into a loan or everything I worked for would have been thrown away. DO NOT GO HERE PLEASE!! They don't care if they are wrong they just don't want a Lawsuit... oh and if you are wondering what happened with the loan I couldn't keep up with the payments because it was way to high for me to pay and live off of so it hit my credit. As a student at SJVC, I actually think its a good school, they a very family oriented and willing to get to know their students and work with them. Of course like any new school they are still trying to straighten out the kinks. Everyone complains about the price but frankly no education and career comes cheap. Plus they have financial aid so its not like they expect you to pay the full amount out of pocket. I took the HVAC course and I'm glad I did. This class will open the doors for a lot of jobs. I didn't pursue the air conditioning part of the trade but the refrigeration and food equipment service. I learned a lot from Mr. Reese(teaches advanced part of the course). He is a knowledgeable guy that loves what he does. I liked the way he taught the class but I wished there would have been more hands on. When I left, I noticed Mr. Cornejo (new instructor who teaches the first half of the course)started doing this with his class. So I'm sure if you take the class with this two instructors you'll be solid in the field. However, the course is not easy if you work full time. In the advanced class you'll have to dedicate at least 3-4 hours studying at home for daily quizzes and homework. You can only miss so many days or you'll have to repeat the module but at the end if you stick with the course it's going to be worth it. All in all I'm happy with my experience at SJVC, the girls at the career center, Sarah and Meisha helped me get a job very quick at a good start pay. read more

If you are planning on attending school , I would highly suggest you go somewhere. This school is extremely disorganized and is constantly having new employees working there. Which should give you an idea about the environment there since they can't even keep employees. I went through the pharmacy Technician program and had two really great teachers one of which has left now . My last few classes there were very difficult for me since the dean had told our teachers they need to make the class easier so more students could pass and they could get their numbers up . It made the class so boring and I felt as if I wasnt learning or progressing which when I went to extern I felt very unprepared. Britney in career services is horrible . She lost my first extern spot because she didn't call in time to reserve a spot for me . Then the next possible extern site which was supposed to be an extern to hire site she started to send people there for interviews, pretty much making sure it wasn't an extern to hire site for me . Then Britney lost my extern paperwork . She made my already bad experience here so much worse . She was also very rude and extremely unprofessional when she would talk to me. This is just my personal experience. I wish I knew about all this before I entered into the program. They also promise you help finding a job when you get out but they don't , they can barely find you a place to extern at let alone find you a job . They tell you after you graduate the field is very impacted and you will probably have to go to Santa Clarita to get a job . read more

I had an awesome experience with this school. I had a great Pharmacy instructor, Mrs. Sapp! If you are interested in going to school to be a pharmacy technician I highly recommend you take her night classes. It all went down hill for me when I started my externship class with a new pharmacy instructor, Mrs. Cervantez. I felt like she didn't really care about me or my well being. She was unprofessional. She was late to class 75% of the time and did not inform me when she made changes to the schedule. My license got to me 2 months after I graduated because I believe she procrastinated on the processing. She would also have a sub come in when she couldn't make it to class and would not leave any plans so I would waste my mornings twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do. In all honesty it left a bad taste in my mouth for SJVC because my last impression was of her. I wish Mrs.Sapp could have taught my extern class because I had the best experience with her through my journey! read more
