Super hady location away from the congested part of Mount Vernon, and I never have to wait for someone to help me, and if there is a part that my contractor tells to get and I have no idea what it even is, they always put two and two together for me and send me home with the right thing. After multiple conversations with the salesperson at MVBC regarding the project, and considering the products available, the order was placed for my untreated metal panels, which I was assured would rust quickly. The materials were delivered in a timely manner, but construction was delayed due to months of bad weather. When we were finally able to complete construction we discovered that the panels were galvanized - exactly what i did NOT want, which is why I went to MVBC for this special order instead of just buying far lest costly galvanized roofing panels at any big box store. When I contacted MVBC to discuss the matter, she confirmed that she ordered galvanized panels because that was the only option. None of which was mentioned to me in our several earlier conversations, and her only other comment was "Well, I'm no expert on metal." {!!). Well then I recommend you put someone on the order desk who DOES know what they're talking about, because I now have five huge problems on my hand that I did not create and no way to solve.

August 2021 I'm a…read morefive star rated contractor. I recently tried this lumber yard by giving them two of my new construction homes. I gave them a competitive bid from another company but cautioned the agent to read the sent plans and compare pricings and contents. He ignored the plans and began sending me materials based on another lumber yard's quote. He missed over $8,000 of lumber he was supposed to bid on and deliver. Every few days I was sending a runner to buy materials they missed delivering at twice the quoted price. This lumber yard gives you partial quotes not knowing construction and lean down the needed materials only to have to send more later...it's an old lumber yard ploy. When I complained to the owner he never returned back with a resolution but instead sent a "post dated" notice to lien which legally was to be sent "upon ordering materials" and is now void and mute. I will never use this company again and the agent is inept and did not follow instructions...His comment was "we do this all the time"

From the moment you walk into Sound Cedar, the smell alone of the fresh cedar is incredible. I checked everywhere and we used them for a lot of decking fasteners and naughty pine tongue and groove. We also got Cedar tongue and groove from them. Prices were excellent but again the customer service was fantastic. It is the most organized facility I've ever seen. In fact, picking up the materials with their forklift crew loading it onto the ladder rack of my pick up truck was so impressive. I took photos. Nathan had recommended an excellent installer for our deck and I cannot tell you how wonderful Felipe and. And Fernando were with the install. Once again, I checked many different places to buy the material. Sound Cedar was the best and exceptional quality but once again it's the best customer service I've ever experienced and I was the general contractor on this build of a home and a detached garage. I should've left a review a long time ago. I just noticed somebody had given one star reviews and there's no way in the world. They deserve that this place is exceptional. You've gotta go there. We bought a really nice Japanese trellis made out of cedar from them and they've got a really good selection. Line of barbecues to include the green egg we're thinking about. The custom Cedar furniture they have there is awesome as well and built for big guys like me!

I have some experience in the building trades and was impressed by what I saw both in the quality of work and by the simple fact that unlike many Contractors/Subs these days, when Spane's crew got started, they didn't stop until the project was finished. In early 2025 I decided I wanted to build a 30'x32' shop at my house for my own use. I got bids from 5 different contractors and I decided on Spane for three main reasons: First, in my initial and subsequent meetings with Michelle, their designer and estimator, I learned she was very knowledgeable, personable, and very easy to work with. She took me through the entire design/build process from the beginning to the end, cheerfully answered my questions and put up with me changing my mind several times during the process. Because of her thoroughness, there were no surprises from start to finish. She made it easy. Second, Spane's bid came in the lowest, but I thought it was reasonable as I had done my own estimate of materials and labor based on current costs. (Unlike some of these Contractors around here who jack their bids up to try to make a years profit from a 2 month project...) Third, and most important, over the years I had seen for myself the quality of their work and at the end of my build, my new shop is exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. We met Darrell who took us to the back to look at remnants. We chose a nice remnant and told them we needed it to be cut, shaped, bound and a rubber backing applied. It only took a few days and they were finished. They did such a great job! Our new carpet was nicer than the old one, and it even fit better! They did a great job at a very reasonable price and fast turnaround. Highly recommend!
