One of my friends from college hosted his birthday party at Skate Rock City on a Saturday night. It's extremely rare for me to visit Boulder Highway, unless it's for special occasions, like this one. Floyd Mayweather opened Skate Rock City in 2021. Unfortunately, it was not worth it and I wish I read the reviews first before accepting my friend's invitation. I also got a new car about a month ago and was concerned about leaving it in the parking lot, but nothing bad happened to it, thankfully. I bought my LTP with me to the party, and I'm really lucky that I didn't show up alone. First things first, our group and all other groups outside were not informed well in advance that we had to sign a waiver before entering. I overheard a few people complaining that they couldn't get the waiver page to open after scanning the QR code on their phones. Then, once we finished the waiver, we had to dig through our email inboxes to find the waiver confirmation and show it to the door guard. You know you're not in a great part of town when a business has metal detectors and protective glass separating the patron from the cashier. Skating here is optional and my LTP and I chose just to watch and mingle with other guests that my friend invited to his party. They have some bizarre rules as well. One of them being no gum or gum chewing...what? This isn't a school. But no outside food or drinks, I get that. You can purchase food and drinks inside, but no refills on all drinks, however. Our party was given pitchers of water, Pepsi, and pink lemonade, the latter we thought was punch at first. And finally, the music is SO LOUD that having a conversation with someone is impossible. I knew my LTP and I couldn't stay for the entire duration of party, so I told my friend happy birthday (and wow, he can skate!) and told him we were sorry, but we had to head out. Yes, he is my friend and I did feel bad for leaving his party early, but again, coming here wasn't worth the drive or the money. I'm leaving two stars because their staff was very friendly and pumped up. But if I'm invited to future parties/get togethers here, I'm going to skip them. Not recommended. Sorry Floyd. :( read more

This place is definitely a blast to the past in all the best ways. I love the look the vibe and the music. Don't change that, the staff is great, friendly and take pride in their jobs which you can see while visiting. But the AC is almost non existent, like no AC. Do better for your employees who have to work in conditions like that and the paying visitors. The fans are not cutting it. I felt like passing out several times due to heat exhaustion. It's bad. It had to be about 90 inside. It's the desert functioning AC is necessary. Also, we need water in the desert and while exercising and not everyone can afford to buy multiple disposable water bottles. Please allow refillable water bottles at least for the kids. That's the only reason I won't be back. I can't afford the number the of water bottles I'd have to buy while skating just to keep my family hydrated. read more

One of my most fondest memories as a child was rollerskating. So, I decided to revisit those memories and found this indoor skating rink. After a 10+ year hiatus, it was a bit challenging and a little unnerving. However, the crowd size was perfect, since I hadn't skated in years. The skating rink itself was very spacious, which allowed skaters to roam freely. The colorful strobe lights affixed to the ceiling reflected off the floor creating a spectacular visual. This coupled with the music and wall decor made for a very enjoyable experience. I did find the interior of the venue a bit outdated and in need of a serious makeover. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and projected a professional demeanor when dealing with customers. Outside food & drink is prohibited but there is a snack bar inside where you can purchase food items. Arcade type games and other entertainment equipment is also available. So, if you're looking for a low impact, high energy, fun filled cardio related activity you might want to give this spot a try. read more

Everyone seemed friendly, and the environment was clean and well maintained. You can tell they care about their customers and take pride in what they do. Skate Rock City is easily one of the best skating rinks I've ever been to! The atmosphere is electric, the staff are friendly, and the rink itself is always in great condition. What really sets it apart, though, is the food--seriously top-tier. The buffalo chicken fries are an absolute must; perfectly crispy, loaded with flavor, and honestly some of the best I've had anywhere. AVOID!! Do not go! This should be a place for families to come and have fun, but it is absolutely not. First you are overcharged for everything. Coming here was an overall crappy experience. And of course, there are no refunds. As a parent not skating, just watching my child, I was charged $15. I would've been OK if I was at least able to sit in a building that had AC. it is 111° outside and there is no air conditioning in the skating area. It is humid and disgustingly hot. I'm here right now dying of heat exhaustion as I write this. To make matters worse they don't allow you to bring any of your water into the building and charge three dollars for TMT (Floyd Mayweather's Brand) bottled water. Additionally, soda fountain machine doesn't work and you have a paid three dollars for a can of soda. This experience was such a rip off. How does a business charge all this money and yet it doesn't even have proper ventilation or air-conditioning? No working drink machines? The kids are hot, thirsty, and miserable. This is to share the experiences of my friends and me who are over 50. Mr. Mayweather states on his site that this facility is for all and skating is therapeutic. Which is true. However, I believe in desiring to be a " one size fits all' organization, it can be forgotten that uniqueness is what makes something special. Las Vegas is a place not only known for Sin City. It is also known for its senior citizens and the many communities catered to them. Skate Rick City could be an establishment like no other for seniors who like to roller skate. However, it's the contrary. Thursday morning for two-hours we get to make it about us or that's what they want us to believe. We cannot even enjoy the time because the music is so derogatory, out of touch and definitely not meant for us and let's not forget ridiculously loud. When I've asked to request different music and if it can be put at a volume that won't damage my hearing aid, I'm ignored by management. It's too bad that we are not truly considered a part of the make up of Skate Rock City but our dollar is. If we were, the music would be catered for us seniors who truly enjoy skating and making fun memories with our friends. I understand it is hard to find good help today. I'm also aware that the lack of training provided and opportunities to learn have been swept under the rug by staff and owners. It is too bad that Mr. Mayweather doesn't see us seniors as contributors to his investment as his younger patrons but just something to throw scraps to. If only he hired the proper people who knew how to properly manage, market and create Skate Rock to be all that it can be! One would have to care and want to please ALL. Due to the lack of responsibility, communication and concern for us seniors at Skate Rock City many of us have decided to venture into other areas of interest where our dollars can keep us safe, healthy and still have fun. read more

One Star is Too Generous .Avoid Floyd's Skating Rink This was one of the worst skating experiences I've ever had. First off, the place was hot as hell inside no ventilation, no air circulation, and absolutely no free water. Instead, you're forced to buy overpriced bottled water with some funky "Money Team" label slapped on it. Total cash grab. It's also not kid-friendly at all. They don't provide those skate helpers or guards for kids who are new to skating, which is basic safety 101. We came specifically for the advertised happy hour deal, but the website failed to mention that you'd need to fill out a waiver and even worse, no one actually checks if you did. So basically, the whole setup is disorganized and sketchy. Let's talk about the location in a struggling area, yet prices are sky-high for low-budget everything. It seems the only reason they get away with charging this much is because of the big name tied to it. But don't let the branding fool you this rink is all hype, no quality. You can't bring anything in. No water, no snacks, no hats just a laundry list of rules that take the fun out of the experience. The bathrooms were filthy, the food court was laughably overpriced, and of course, the slushee machine didn't even work. Save yourself the frustration. Go somewhere else in the city that actually cares about its guests. Floyd, this rink stinks worse than some of your boxing performances. read more

The only thing they improved on was a disco ball and neon menu for the snack bar with no water fountain. The security company they have there called counterforce solutions is very unprofessional which is why they lost most of their contracts. The skating floor is very old and bumpy. The DJ booth is set up by the tables and it's very loud, you can't have a normal conversation. Snack area and food was priced high. Skates need an update, too old. Now, over the years things have been the same from the skates, the customer service, and the skating floor... literally the same. I would vote 0 star if I could. They check your bag to make sure you are not carry food outside so they able to sell the icky food. Have to pay 12$ if no skate. My minor are 8 and 9 and they have to struggle themself to skate if I am not joining. My first time going to Skate Rock City occurred on January 27, 2023. I went there for their 2nd-anniversary rollout weekend which occurred from 9 pm to 2 am, Friday through Sunday! I had a ball there and the event was well organized and run. I brought my skates and for one dollar one can purchase a token to secure their shoes and belongings. I had a couple of instances where people had stuck quarters into the locker slot or the locker would not open or the key would not pull off. However, the two different staff members assisted me with getting a functional locker. They have a snack bar, a small gaming area, and approximately 17 large benches to sit down to rest, eat, or socialize. I purchased some pretzel bites and lemonade the first night I went and it cost 6.00. The pretzel bites were good and the snacks and food were reasonably priced. They accept credit and debit cards at the snack bar. I do feel like picking up a snack bar order should be more organized. They called my name over the intercom and the area to the left looked like the pick-up spot. However, no one was there and my food wasn't either. Finally, I waited in line and told the cashier my name and another employee retrieved my order. A sign to indicate pick-up would be helpful. They also have benches that outline the left and right sides of the skating rink floor where one can change their shoes or watch the roller skaters do their thing. The skating rink is nice, and the parking lot is massive enough to accommodate a large crowd. Again, I attended Skate Rock City for a special event in which many people had flown in from all over the country. I am certain it was more festive than a normal night. Nevertheless, I loved the setup, and the Deejays they hired were jamming, especially Sunday night. I will return and I highly recommend Skate Rock City! They need to throw a three-night adult skate anniversary party annually! read more

Disappointed Experience - Not Beginner Friendly I went to the Sunday adult skate session at Crystal Palace expecting a fun night, but unfortunately, it's really only for experienced skaters. If you're a novice or just getting back into skating, I wouldn't recommend it. There's no edge area to hold onto or practice safely, and you're expected to stay in the middle -- which isn't comfortable or safe if you're not super confident. I drove across town and was really looking forward to dusting off my skates since Sundays are the only time I get to go. I don't mind if the session is meant for advanced skaters, but it would be helpful to let people know that at the door or advertise it as an "Advanced 18+ Skate Night." That way, others can make an informed decision before going. read more

We came here on a saturday. There was hardly anyone. The skates were old. The place smelled old and smoky(?). They have no skate mates available to rent. I waited for 7 minutes for someone to help me at the concession stand. There was a person at the DJ booth but was busy being on her phone. Then 40 minutes later, the music stopped, the lights turned on and everyone was told to leave. Apparently they close for an hour and then reopen but you can't re-enter without paying again. We told one of the workers there that they could have warned us when we came in that we would only have less than an hour to skate. He just shrugged his shoulders and said: "well it's on the website". People have been telling me this place is better under new management. I can't imagine it being worse. read more

BEWARE! THIS PLACE IS NOT FUN! IF YOU ARE DISABLED, WHITE, GAY OR NOT A REGULAR!! First thing...Medal Detector? WHAT! yes, first a Medal Detector, then no pricing ANYWHERE. The STAFF NOT friendly, REGULARS, NOT FRIENDLY. ADULT NIGHT is ridiculous. The manager was at least decent. God forbid its your first time at Rock City! Medal Detector and the rude woman as a cashier, when i asked how much? The anger in her. Should've been my first and second clue. I figure, ok whatever. Every place is different, so I paid went in. If you are a beginner you CANNOT use the wall to hold you up. They will blow a whistle at you and tell you to go fall in the middle with nothing to hold you. If you stop on the floor for ANY REASON you get the whistle blown at you, yet several "regulars" were getting props for doing dances in the outer lanes, holding up the flow. Then, the whistle blowers, literally, high five with other staff for blowing a whistle at you. Saying, "GREAT JOB" and laugh at you even if you're disabled!! THE SECURITY, YES ARMED SECURITY, will hover over you like a criminal after the staff blows the whistle at you!! I asked the hovering security why she was hovering over us and is there a manager available and can you get him please. Spoke with the manager and requested a refund after 20 minutes. From my experience everything is good accept for the security. Not all of them but one in particular...This gentleman I don't know his name but he's either Caucasian or Latino. It's like he's trying to enforce the rule of individuals to not wear hats when management specifically says "We can"!...Now they did try to implement the "No Hat Rule" a few weeks ago, from management, then changed it back. Now this security dude is trying to stop people from coming in with hats!! I mean who's setting the rules here?!?! Management or The Security?!?...You guys need to set your rule book in stone or look into the security guard that has been harassing individuals who wears hats and not letting them in. read more

Ran to the car to take my insulin before cake at my nephews party and was refused reentry. Was told by staff "the party is over they will be out soon" had another girl go through the same thing and her child was still inside when she told them her child was inside they told her "do you want us to go get her" like how traumatizing and embarrassing would it be for security to go get her and kick her out because they are refusing her mom reentry. Spent over $500 on a party room here for us to be treated like criminals that couldn't even celebrate with our family because their staff is unprofessional and acting like high schoolers. read more

Staff responded saying the rules are the same for everyone there shouldn't be an issue . I was LITERALLY told by your staff to get a ticket from the lady at the front to come back in to the party and she gave me the ticket told me how to exit and locked the lobby down. PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES would have told me there is no re entry even for my cousin who needed to go to the car to take her insulin before the cake . Awesome!! We go during early family hours 3- whenever. The DJ manager is beyond friendly and the best possible ambassador for the rink. The staff is excellent and friendly. They keep the rink safe and clean and COVID compliant. I have zero worries here. The best part about the rink to me is the feel and beat. Life isn't the greatest right now - until you step into the Cyrstal Palace and get transported back in time to the 1970's and 1980's.
