The fur was no longer luscious instead it looked fried, tangled and messy. The size of the coat also shrank to the point where I can't even wear it. Given it was a third party who cleaned it I didn't write a bad review for them last time. This time I sent in an intricate sweater for dry cleaning and when it came back the length of the sweater was uneven. The back was noticeably longer than the front and the sweater lost its original shape. Also the male owner pulls price out of thin air. He'll charge whatever he feels like that day.

What's important to me about a dry-cleaner is that it's convenient (hours of operation and location), does the job well, is decently priced, and has good turn-around times. Not knowing any reputable dry-cleaners in the area, I initially went to stitch-it at Markville mall across the street. First of all, any dry-cleaners that operate at the mall will not dry-clean your clothes at the mall. They'll contract it to a small-shop cleaner, and that's where it'll get cleaned. This adds to 1) your cost 2) the turn-around time. I didn't even bother getting a price from Stitch-it because they said it would take 3 business days for them to return my suit to me! Luckily, Manhattan Cleaners was across the street, with actual machines on-site and they said they would be able to get my suit to me by the next day! What a difference! The shop owner is friendly and provides very quick and straightforward service. The cleaning of my suit jacket and pants ran me about $15 + tax which is reasonable. The suit was returned clean and the pants nicely pressed; professional with wire hanger, poly bag, and paper shoulder guards.

High Price, Disappointing Results…read more I'm sharing my experience with this tailor in a neutral and factual way, hoping it will be helpful to others. Before coming here, I had visited two other tailors but chose not to leave my coat with them for various reasons. I mentioned this to the tailor. After reading the positive reviews, I decided to give this place a try. When I arrived, the tailor spoke at length about his experience and the places he had worked around the world. The price quoted was $75 plus tax, which is higher than what other tailors had offered, but I decided to proceed based on his confidence and self-presentation. I requested a sleeve shortening and specifically asked for the stitching to match the original. When I picked up the coat, I was disappointed. The sleeve stitching was not straight and did not match the original style, which was surprising given the emphasis on his 20+ years of experience. Overall, my experience was not very positive, especially considering the higher price compared to other tailors.

My only issue with the dress, was that it was too long in the front. I asked to keep the dress long, but that I needed the front a bit shorter so I could walk without tripping. I had expected the altered result to look something like the second image. However, the dress came out with an added seam and unevenly long. The dress itself and the tail were now two different parts, and the dress flowed completely differently. Not to mention, despite the ends of the dress being trimmed, there was two added seams making something that looked like a belt pattern in the middle of the torso. Nothing was mentioned about this, and it looked terribly odd only in the front and with a backless dress. When visiting, the change rooms were dark and had almost no light, minus the light shining in from the other side of the curtain. I had brought in my dress 4 days before needing it. However, on the day of needing it, a few hours before I was supposed to pick it up, I was asked to come in again because he had forgotten to mark the dress. I trusted Silk Tailor with a dress I had genuinely loved so much, and had needed for an important event, and now I'm left with a dress I feel ashamed to wear to such a special occasion.
