Maybe too quick. I should have tested out the seat before taking off. It wasn't until I was down at the river walk that I realized I had a problem with my seat. Oh well.... I shoulda / coulda gone back to the shop but I didn't. I knew I wasn't going to last long on the bike with it being so hot outside so I just managed with a loose seat. We did a few miles along the river enjoying the area before I turned into a melty mess with rubber legs. (I had not been on a bike in several years.... Good thing I remembered how. Ha!)

If I had any complaint about this place I would say that it cost a bit more than I had planned on and parking is a bit of a nightmare, but the service is top notch. I had a flat on my mountain bike. I patched it three times and it still found a way to go flat so I took it here before hitting the trail. They offered to fix it right then and there but I told them to take an hour and I went for lunch. When I got back it was done. If that were everything I likely wouldn't have written this review. I needed a bike bag and their selection was pretty thin and quite expensive but went with one that THEY make themselves. They even took the time to install it and size it up and trim the excess at no charge. While they were doing that they mentioned that they though my ride would be improved if I flattened my seat, I agreed and the did that for free. They also mentioned that I might be happier if my handlebars were raised up a bit, I mentioned that it was uncomfortable bending over that much so they raised it for free. While at it they went through and checked and tightened every single screw they could find on the bike for free. This was almost like a full tune up at no charge. I expected to pay about $20 for a tire but throw in a spare tube, the kind of pricey bag, a couple cheap patch kits and a cheap spare pair of gloves and it was $120 - but that is on me, not them. They are outstanding and you can bet you bottom dollar that if I'm anywhere near Durango and need anything for my bike that Velorution is where I'll go, period. So why not 5 stars? The only reason is because parking is non existent. You can park in the hospital lot and risk getting towed or your can park in the tiny trail lot if you can find the space. When I returned for my bike I had to simply park in front of their driveway.

We had a great day riding around Durango on our Monty's rental bikes. The bikes are three speed…read moretown bikes (pedaling backwards engages the brake), which were a bit of an adjustment from our bikes at home, but they were easy enough to get used to and ride. They were generally very smooth and quiet to ride. The rental prices were very reasonable, and it was a pleasure supporting Monty and his local business. If we are ever wanting to bike around Durango again, we will do our rental from Monty!

I had a town bike with a basket in the front and I enjoyed riding it. My kids were happy with their bikes as well. The location is great if you're planning to bike the Animas River Trail. You have to ride/walk downhill through town a little to reach the trail. From there, it was a short ride up to the Fish Hatchery. Then, you can bike as much or as little as you want. We opted for the full day which was $30/bike and a helmet was included. After being on the trail for about 4 hours and covering 8 miles, I was glad we opted for the longer rental. All their rental bikes have coaster brakes and they performed well for us on all parts of the trail. It was a great experience and a delightful way to see the beautiful Animas River.
