Super disappointed in this spa. I have been a client for quite some time. I gave a gift certificate to my 70yo mother-in-law a year and a half ago. Recently, when she went to redeem it after services for $150 she was told that it would not be honored because the spa had changed owners. The spa looks identical to me, It's still called Skin Serenity, the signs all look the same! I'm sad that she had to fork out the money and embarrassed for the spa how it was handled. I will no longer be going back and I know that not only will she not be going back but imagine she will be telling all of her friends how this was handled. I called to address this after and was not helped other than to be told that they were sorry and could not do anything. read more

First I have to say Cindy is amazing For a facial. I have been here. Umerous times over the last couple of years and always had a good experience. This review is not based on the service or facial received. Today I went for a facial which was $125.00, while checking out I was charged $128.75 ok I know not a big difference however it was above the quoted price on the website but when I asked if the price went up, I was told no it's a 3% service charge, ok for what? Hand sanitizer and masks, huh whose? Why am I paying for your hand sanitizer and masks. I used as requested one pump of sanitizer upon entry and I had my own mask. First if you are adding an additional charge you should be told no matter how small it may be above the quote price, and also businesses are allowed a tax write off for business expenses, isn't this associated with business expenses, why the 3% charge without notification and telling the client prior to paying ? We are asked to support local and small business and every client who comes in is charged 3% on top of the service, must be very expensive hand sanitizer and employee masks. Not really happy that I wanted to purchase a gift card for someone who frequents this spa. They were running a 20% off coupon sale but I was traveling on business the week of the sale and I simply asked if I could purchase it when I returned. I also told them I was willing to secure the gift card with my Amex or Visa and I was told the owner would call me. No call back. Indifference is the worst experience a customer can have. I was originally very much looking forward to visiting this MedSpa. It was conveniently located within minutes to my house and is located in a beautiful Victorian-style home. Unfortunately, the service did not meet my expectations whatsoever, and the entire process felt entirely transactional and not catered to my specific aesthetic needs. This, coupled with a lack of concern for issues faced during my service, means that I would steer clear of this place. To start, I believe that there was a real lack of knowledge when it came to my application and procedure. I was having jawline injectables via a product called Radiesse. My injector (Nurse Kathy) spent nearly less than two minutes on my jawline injections. I will admit that she did spend an ample amount of time going through my medical background and any concerns about swelling/bruising given my health conditions. But, when it came to the actual injection, Kathy both failed to set expectations about what I was receiving and also neglected to spend any care or concern in shaping the jaw. I asked repeatedly for her to clarify how many syringes she thought would suffice and she refused to provide any clarity on what she thought. I understand she can't say maybe exactly how much, but, for someone who claims to be a master injector, she couldn't give me much information. Then, when an injection is performed in less than two minutes, as was the case here, that is a red flag to me and a cause of concern. Traditionally, as I had verified by my dermatologist and a separate nurse injector at another facility, jaw filler is inserted through a cannula (at least partly) in order to sculpt the jaw and ensure that there are no vessels or veins stabbed during the injection. Kathy did not use that and used a sharp needle instead to inject. Again, she performed the injection in less than two minutes without even showing me what she was doing or asking if I was getting the result that I wanted. It was only after the first syringe was done that I had to speak up and ask for a mirror so that I could explain the effect that I was looking for. I don't even know whether I was injected with the right product (Radiesse, which is calcium-based) versus with something like Juvederm that is water-based. Kathy did not show attention to detail and really just seemed to be interested in selling the very expensive service. The most frustrating part of my entire experience occurred when I tried to bring this experience up to the owner and to the nurse. To clarify, Nicole, or Nikki, is the owner of the spa, but rents out the space to Kathy. Kathy is not her employee -- I would not have booked with Kathy knowing this since now Kathy has no accountability nor commitment to resolving this issue. But, regardless, I spoke with Nicole repeatedly and explained the concerns that I had throughout the process. Time and time again, Nicole made it an effort to shut down and respond combatively to every point and concern that I brought up about the injector and my experience. In fact, if you look at some of Nicole's responses to the other reviews below, she doesn't seem to take much personal responsibility for the bad experiences her guests have and just prefers to respond and make a counter-argument to everything people have brought up. The nurse, Kathy, was no better when I spoke with her. She made up a complete lie about how she told me how many syringes would be needed (which she never did) and how she treats all of her customers thoroughly. I completely disagreed with her and attempted to explain how there were instances during my procedure in which she was not thorough, careful, or detail-oriented -- but, again, Kathy stopped me mid-sentence several times and refused to hear anything I was telling her. At the end, when I asked for a resolution, Kathy unabashedly denied any sort of compromise and scurried off the phone to attend to a patient (or so she told me). Both she and the owner, Nicole, seemed to be quite lacking when it comes to both listening and to being empathic. Overall, I am very disappointed in both the actual "science" and "art" behind my procedure, as well as the customer service (or lack thereof) that was displayed to me afterward. I would recommend staying clear of this business and perhaps going to somewhere where customers are treated more appropriately and where their concerns are heard if brought up. I was provided with no resolution nor accountability for the issues I faced. And, overall, go with someone who you can trust and shows concern in making sure you look good after the service -- not just someone who wants to sell you a service and profit off of you without any care for your expectations and final results. read more

I'm very disappointed in this place. I bought my mother an e-gift card for Christmas because she wanted to get Botox. She has gotten Botox here before and that was the only service she was interested in receiving. When she went to make her appointment, she was told that gift cards were not redeemable for injectables. They stated that this was written on their website, although it was not clearly stated anywhere when I purchased the gift card. I went back on the website after the fact and couldn't find anything limiting the services redeemable with gift cards. The staff explained that there was nothing they could do for her, and could not refund the amount spent on the gift card or honor it for Botox services. I feel scammed, and disappointed that my mom won't be able to use the gift that I know she really wanted for Christmas. I do not recommend this spa, as they clearly don't value their customers or the money that they spend there. read more

I was really excited to find a spa closer to home. I'm a fan of hydra facials so I booked one right away. The esthetician was over 10 mins late for my appointment (okay things happen), rushed my appointment, and missed a lot of my chin area. She did not seem well trained. She told me "oh so much more clarity". It's been two days and my face looks worse (more dry) than when I went in, I had to do a ton of my own extractions when I got home. Don't buy a gift card here! I was given a $180 gift card and three months later the business was sold. I had no idea the business was sold, called to schedule a massage and was told the business stopped honoring the previous owners gift cards at the the time of purchase. Very bad business practice, potential customers will certainly not spend any money in a business that steals from them. read more

My most recent visit was wonderful, as always. Skin Serenity is in an old Victorian 'house', which gives the spa rooms so much character. Each room has it's own peaceful personality. Carol has a way of always making me feel special- I'm sure she does this for ALL her clients. She is very thoughtful, and remembers my stories and talks about them with me when I return for another visit. The hydrafacial is great and left my face 'wedding ready'. The location is very clean, the front staff is polite, friendly and professional. I also have enjoyed massage here, and I have also had hair removal here. My only complaint... I wish I had my underarm hair removed much SOONER, and not over the past year. It is worth every penny!!! read more

Honestly I love this place. I like the fact that there are so many mature women that work there. I feel Im getting the best treatment and you can really bond with them. The younger girls are so cool and upbeat too. They always make you feel special there. I love how they keep up with the latest and the greatest beauty trends. Their botox doctor is an actual plastic surgeon. A bit pricy but well worth it. Its a house not a business building so it feels homey and comfortable. To me thats a BIG plus. I was really excited about finding a new spa to start frequenting since I was new in the area. I had met a few of the staff at an event and they were very nice. I received a Gift Certificate and made an appointment. However, when I arrived at Skin Serenity I was placed with a new technician who was just recently certified and was not very experienced or confident in what she was doing. She was very nice but she made me very nervous the entire time and I really just/should have left after the quasi pedicure-it was all really just a waste of time. I couldn't wait to get home and take off all of the poorly applied polish and I rescheduled elsewhere the following day. I understand trying to establish new clients for new employees but I feel first impression is everything and its too bad because I would have inquired about skin treatments on a regular basis but very discouraged/disappointed now. read more

I want to give this place a 5 but in spite of the friendly welcome and beautiful surroundings, my friend and I both had so-so experiences. Not bad. Just not awesome. The woman giving me a facial was in such a rush to leave after my appointment that everything was done quickly and efficiently. And she talked incessantly. So it was not the pampering that I usually get, and expect, from a facial. Did it clean my skin? Yes. But I can do that myself. My friend who got a massage said the technique was great but again, the woman would not stop talking throughout the entire service. Most people get a massage to relax, to escape. It's not very relaxing to have to keep up your end of an unwanted conversation. On the plus side, they have nice products (I got an awesome foundation), everyone was friendly and the space is clean and gorgeous. I'll go back to give it another chance but really hope management can impress upon the staff that they should stop with the ongoing chatter. read more

Please know that I have NEVER written a review before because I have never felt the need to do so either way... Positive or negative. However, Skin Serenity is different. After my Nurse Practitioner had been recommending Skin Serenity to me for over a year, I finally carved out some time for myself and booked an appointment. I went this past Tuesday and had the blue radiance chemical peel, a massage, a back treatment, and a pedicure. I know... a little overindulgent ;) Anyway, Carol and her staff are amazing. They made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Carol is exceptional with her knowledge, skill, attitude, and professionalism. I have never been more satisfied nor have I had such a strong desire to return to a salon or spa anywhere (and I have been to many throughout the United States while traveling on business). Carol is the best at what she does - I highly recommend her as she is the best esthetician I have ever experienced. In addition, because she is extremely seasoned and takes her profession seriously, she is highly educated and has state of the art equiptment which enables Skin Serenity to provide top-notch services that provide optimal results. AMAZING! I love the facials, and I would trust the people here with anything! Everyone there has tons of experience, and you certainly don't feel like you are going into a place with a bunch of kids that just graduated beauty school. It is in an old house, so it is super cozy. Cindy is the best aesthetician ever!
