When my niece called to redeem her Christmas gift, she was informed that the purchase was for one leg only. I went here for a massage a few months ago because I had a groupon. It was really terrible. When I came into the building, no one was there to greet me. A sloppy young man finally came out from some room and handed me paperwork. I was the only one there, and still, my appointment started 15 minutes late. I believe my appointment was for 11 AM, and it started around 11:15 (by the time she gave me the tour, which I didn't really want.) My groupon was for a hot stone massage, which she only did for about 25% of the time. The rest of it was just a regular massage. I hated the music. I would have preferred silence- not my style and it was way too loud. She never asked me my opinion about it. The massage itself was really not good. It was uneven- she would do the right arm, and forget the left. Not a ton of pressure-I felt ticklish, which I don't usually experience. And she used some VERY strong scented oil. I couldn't get the smell out for anything, so I stank of Patchouli for days. Worst of all- in the middle of what is supposed to be a "relaxing" experience, her cell phone went off at a very loud volume. And she answered it! I couldn't believe how unprofessional it was. Finally- my groupon was for a 75 minute hot stone massage. Like I said earlier- my appointment did not start until 11:15. She ended super early. I was dressed, paid, and out the door by 12:15 (which wasn't actually a huge problem because the massage was terrible. I was happy to leave.) I came in to get a massage as well as check out their cellulite treatment and I was not disappointed! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. AWFUL. Got a mani/pedi that I could have done better myself. I made an appointment for 2 people thinking we could talk and get them done at the same time and have a relaxing day at the spa -- NOPE. We had to go one at a time in a tiny back room. My cuticles didn't get cut on either fingers or toes (what am I paying for???) and she didn't clean the tools between us (now glad nothing got cut). I purchased a deal for a "pedicure and foot bath" from Living Social. I initially booked it for August 26, but when I arrived, the footbath tub was not working, so I was asked to rebook. I know these things happened, so it didn't bother me. I rebooked for yesterday, Sept 7. When I arrived, the front desk girl told me that I should know they would only do the footbath part of it as there was no one there to do the pedicure. I was told they "didn't know if I would show up" as "they had tried calling me in the morning" so the person who was supposed to give me the pedicure was not in. So I showed the voucher, and she said, "oh we know, but we only do the foot bath". I repeated that the voucher was for the foot bath and pedicure, and she said "well, we don't do that anyway". I pointed to their service menu that was placed on the front desk, which clearly had "Ultimate pedicure and foot bath $55" written on it! She said "well the person who is supposed to do it is not here today, but I can see if she can come in. But we can do the footbath". It was like talking in circles, so I just said, I'll take the foot bath....but WHY would anyone want to just come in for a footbath??????? I paid for a pedicure.... The footbath was probably worth less than the $30 I paid for the voucher....VERY disappointed. FYI: kitchy decor (buddhas, fake plants, lots of jewelry and loud handbags for sale in waiting room), drug store products. Foot bath was relaxing. Will never return. read more

Very happy with THREADING, PEDICURE and ULTRA SONIC FACIAL: I tried eyebrow threading (and upper lip) at Moksha and loved the results. Anu was the woman who shaped my eyebrows and removed all of the extra hairs using a twisted piece of cotton thread. Unlike with waxing I had no red, tender skin where a layer of skin had been ripped off with the hair. Anu did a beautiful job shaping them, too. It cost $20 and took about 10 minutes. It's also a very "green" procedure, with only a short piece of cotton thread used and disposed of. I also have had a 45 minute pedicure from the owner, Jodi Chatterjee, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was about 10 minutes late but Jodi took me right away and I was put into a private room which was beautifully decorated in plush reds and golds. I sat on a very comfortable cushion and enjoyed chatting with Jodi while soaked, massaged and scrubbed my feet and then trimmed my cuticles, cleaned up my nails and she gave me tips on how to soften the hard skin on the soles of my feet. I enjoy the soft, Indian music that always plays in the background at Moksha, too. Jodi used a base coat, 2 layers or color and a top coat. My toes looked great! I think it was $55 for the pedicure. Since I had extra time and Jodi was finished with her booked appointments she agreed to give me an ultra sonic facial to calm down my rosacea on my face. I was a bit skeptical, never having had a facial before, but after 15 minutes of using her device with some wonderfully soothing, vitamin rich pumpkin scented cream I immediately noticed I had much less red in my cheeks and my skin was very smooth on my face. I was very happy with the results. It was (I think) $110 for the facial, which is the only reason why I can't schedule them regularly because I would if I could afford it. My mother went to this spa a few months ago for a pedicure. Despite concern she had in getting into/out of the chair for the pedicure, the staff did not assist her and she fell, sustaining bruises and injury. My mother was unhappy with the pedicure, and obviously less then pleased not only that she fell but by the lack of response on the part of the spa. They clearly care more about protecting themselves than they do customer service. To give a company with such poor customer service even 1 star is more than generous. read more

Very displeased with customer service at Moksha. Technician was late for 3 of 6 sessions for laser hair removal treatment purchased through Groupon. The Groupon does not specify that the treatment area is only for 1 leg and that 2 need to be purchased for treatment. I purchased the 2nd at the spa. I was happy with the results and the price, so I purchased another Groupon for 6 more sessions for 2 legs, as the technician recommended, to continue treatment once the initial 6 were complete. When I called to schedule an appointment, Moksha would not honor my 2nd Groupon although the fine print does not specify first time customers only. The woman at Moksha told me to ask for a refund through Groupon and re-purchase directly through the spa. I LOVE Groupon and notified them about this merchant not honoring the promotion and requested the "fine print" section be modified so other customers do not have this experience. Groupon was happy to process my refund without any hassle. I will not return to Moksha because of their lack of customer service. read more

Went here today with a Groupon that had Expired. Called ahead and they were glad to honor it for paid value of $49. I decided on a pedicure which they normally charge $55 for. When i arrived I was greeted right away. The inside of this place is quite lovely and smelled divine. It was a very peaceful and relaxing. I was taken in right away. I was excited for what I thought would be a great experience. The first issue was the fact that I had polish already on my toes and they had absolutely no nail polish remover. huh? It took the girl about 10 minutes to find some and I have no idea where she found it. The products were cheap. I recognized some of them from my local dollar store. For the amount of $ they charge I was totally expecting better quality. The nail polish itself was also cheap, outdated and looked old. The technician was nice and treated me and my daughter very well. She seemed to struggle a bit with the pedicure. It was much like a pedicure I would give myself with paper towels between my toes and Q-tips on hand for smudges. I asked about their Yoga classes while getting the pedi and she was not too knowledgeable on what types of classes they offered. The relaxation room they have you sit in after is nice. They give you water which is also nice. Overall the experience was disappointing. Toes on both feet have smudged and it was only several hours later. I am so glad I only paid $6 plus tip which was vey generous of me considering the experience. Perhaps they are better at other things but I would never go here for a Pedi again. read more

Just like a previous poster, I am only giving a 1 because I have to...no stars was my intent. What an odd and anti customer environment. I got bad vibes from the moment I called them. Two messages later, my call was returned and a manicure/pedicure appt was made, only to be confirmed three times and then cancelled by the "manicurest" on the same day due to a death in her family. It really is a long story. I did go..I had to..I had purchased a groupon, which in no means was much of a savings compared to other businesses offering the same services. I was told I needed to complete several sheets of forms, which I refused and was only okay after the "boss" was consulted. I just wanted my services. Never got them. I realized the receptionist who turned into the manicurest was the same person confirming and cancelling the previous appt. She denied it, saying no one had died or that she cancelled my appt. Of course it was her, I think she is 1 of the 2 employees left there...pathetic business situation. When her boss entered the room asking what my problem was and I speak of the calls, confirmations, cancelled appt and never any follow up. The receptionist/manicurest was to call me back to reschedule. It is then she talks of her boyfriend's father dying and how her boss knew....What? Cucoo Cocunuts! The boss, whoever she was, decided I was too much a problem and was told to leave and get my money back from Groupon. I was in OMG mode for the next hour! The owner did my facial, and I can tell you it was the WORST facial I have ever done in my life. The way she massaged my face was so rough, not relaxing at all. Groupon- I give this place zero stars. I recently purchased Groupons for the Moksha Spa & Wellness Center (Good for a Signature Manicure and Ultimate Pedicure) in Methuen, Massachusetts for $98.00 (2 x $49.00). I went for the service and was extraordinarily disappointed. I've gone to a number of places with vastly superior service, for half the price. As a matter of fact, I had to go to another nail place and have my nails redone that same day (cotton stuck to my nails, bubbles on the cheap nail polish, etc...). This kind of experience undermines Groupon and I think the Grooupon organization should NOT accept this Moksha Spa "Scam" ever again, if they try to entice with another Groupon. Unfortunately, I purchased 2 Groupons for this service (one for me and a gift). This second one is unusable because of the level of service of the first. I bought a Groupon for 50% off a mani/pedi to this place. I needed my nails done for my engagement party and I called about a week and a half before to make an appointment. I had to call five times and leave two voicemails before they got back to me and confirmed my appointment for 10:30 the day of my party. I arrived about 5 minutes early, and found that nobody was there (they are supposed to open at 10 on Saturday). My gut told me to leave then, but since I needed my nails done and only had a certain window of time to get them done in, I stayed. So I waited in another parking lot, since there is a gate to their parking lot that is locked at night. Around 10:40, I see a woman pull up and unlock the gate and the entrance to the building. I waited 5 minutes to let the woman get settled, and I went in. This woman then proceeds to tell me that since it is 15 minutes after my appointment was scheduled to start, she wanted to only do the mani OR the pedi since she had another appointment at 1:00!! I then told her how I was here BEFORE my appointment, and saw that she was late!!! I also informed her how I needed both the services for my special occasion. She apologized and gave me an excuse about why she was late, and agreed to do both services hesitantly. The mani/pedi room is a small room in the back of the spa (which I was aware of beforehand from looking at their website). It was nicely decorated and looked clean. The technician fills the tub with water, turns on the jets, and tells me that she will be back. She leaves me there for 10 minutes!!! She comes back, apologizes and tells me that she needed to answer phones. Apparently the manager was on vacation, and leaves the spa high and dry with all these people using the Groupons!! The mani/pedi itself was HORRIBLE. She used nail files that you could buy at CVS for 99 cents, and she DUG into my nails as she was filing them. The pumice stone didn't take any of the dry skin off my feet, and again, I saw the same one they used at CVS. The polish colors weren't great, mostly very dark shades of red or pink and some other not-so-flattering colors. When she painted my toes, she missed some spots of my nail and the polish was uneven. I was originally going to have the same color for both my hands/feet, but after seeing what she did to my feet I just opted for clear. The same story for the mani, more 99 cent nail files and ripping of the nails. She didn't even cut my nails to make them even, or shape them evenly. In total, the appointment lasted about an hour, and this was supposed to be a deluxe mani/pedi worth $100!! The technician was very nice and tried to make conversation, but I think she could tell I was upset. She gave me a coupon for 10% off any service, but sad to say I will NEVER be back. I drove the 20 minutes to the studio, classes confirmed, payment made (and confirmed via email) and the owner said "we don't have an account with them, there is no way you paid for classes" Called spafinder who said "yes, they do have an account with us, we cannot refund you the money because they have it, not us" Moksha owner said if I paid another 20, I could still take the class I signed up for. very generous, I want my money back, but no one seems to have it. I had gotten one of those deal sites for a yoga package that was pretty cheap so I tried it. I have been to a few yoga places and this place I have liked the least. You do get personal attention because the most people that had ever been in any of my classes were 5 and there were classes where it was just me. Class doesn't always start right on time and they don't go over if they start a little late like some other places. I didn't care for the owner's style of yoga at all. I almost questioned how much she really knew as she was doing a lot of things that I have always done at the end of other classes at the beginning of this class. There was no flow. The other girls are good though. It never seems that anyone picks up the phone or is at the front desk when you go either. read more

I recently purchased a Groupon for a two-person spa package. When I called the spa to make the appointment I was told that Groupons were only accepted for appointments on Thursday-Saturday. However, no where on the site does it say that the Groupon would be only be honored on certain days of the week. Had I known this, I wouldn't have purchased the deal in the first place as I was trying to make an appointment for earlier in the week. The woman I spoke to on the phone was not very accommodating. Have done yoga there which wasn't bad. That is not the complaint. Knowing that This place is not the cleanest, I found a Groupon for Botox for cheap so I decided to check it out. I'm not sure what the "doctor" injected into my face but it definitely wasn't Botox. He went so deep with the needle that I cringed with pain which isn't the typical use of Botox. I'm not sure what they're running over there. But I would be very concerned with what you getting done. Needless to say I had zero results from Botox except some bruising. read more

You pay the Groupon thinking you're getting a deal because the regular price is around $300 for couples massage and they ask for you to pay $150. We also paid an additional $20 because one of the massage therapists was good. But don't let it fool you. Got called in 20 minutes later than our appointment time. Massage was about 25 minutes and then they let us sit in a room with a filled up tub with rose pedals. One of the "massage therapists" smelt like body odor and cigarette smoke. I called after our appointment to complain and was told by the manager that there was no way that he smelt like smoke and that there was nothing they could do. Got nowhere. Then I tried for weeks to get an appointment with their annoying online system which they don't respond to, or the phone message which never gives you an option to talk to a person. My experience was nearly identical to Mich S.'s mani/pedi at Moksha except that I felt no pity for the nail tech. I feel like the Groupon description was complete false advertising... it described foot and hand treatments which is the only reason I would have spent $49 on a Groupon. I could spend less than that without a Groupon if I just wanted a regular mani/pedi. I walked into the place and was greeted by a young guy in a baseball cap at the reception desk. The nail tech came out, asked if I was her next appointment, and then proceeded to tell the receptionist that she was tired and just wanted to go home! This is exactly what you want to here from the person who is about to do your nail service. Once back in the nail room, she had me climb up onto the pedicure bath... this was awkward and, quite honestly, dangerous. She barely let me soak my feet before she started working on them. As Mich S. said, there was NOTHING special done, she barely scrubbed/pumiced my heels, didn't massage or put lotion on my feet, and was super slow/awkward with all of the tools. And she kept asking me to move forward for her so I was literally on the edge of the bench - this was not relaxing AT ALL. Then, as I was climbing down from the slippery pedicure tub, she told me that she just had an 80-year-old woman who slipped and fell and scraped her back! How is this tub even remotely safe!?! Onto the manicure - the space is so small that you have to sit at this awkward sideways angle to have your nails done. And try to keep the drape hanging over the manicure table from touching your newly painted toes. Just as we were getting started, she says, "There must be something going around." I asked what she meant and she tells me she feels like she is coming down with the flu or something. GREAT! Just what I want to hear as she is touching my hands and breathing in my face. As with the feet, nothing was done to the hands - barely a hand massage. Then, she unexpectedly got another client and let her come in and get started on the foot soak while I was still drying. This room is way too small for this and it felt SO weird for both of us to be sharing such a private feeling space. She was telling the new client that she had a headache and was dizzy and the client offered to reschedule but the woman insisted she stay. I left without leaving a tip... I'm sorry but this was a total ripoff. I can't think of a time where I haven't tipped a nail tech if that gives you any idea of how bad this was. My nails are jagged, there are pieces of skin that she left behind on the cuticles, and my heels are just as rough as when I went in. I wish I had looked at the reviews before I bought the Groupon. This place is completely unprofessional and I would not recommend this place to anyone. My boyfriend and I visited this business for the first time as a gift for my birthday. The place is very nice I must say. A truly great vibe. Anyway, we arrived to the location where we found only a gentleman in a caravan who by the way his appearance was not very welcoming or professional. He indicated that his boss would be here soon but was running late to open the building. This was a bit disturbing to me as I would think there would be some prep time before a business is opened to its customers. We went to get breakfast and came back. Fast forward the gentleman in the parking lot would be my massage therapist without any questions asked if I prefer a female or male. We went along with it. The room was cold and I had to ask them to turn up the heat. We then went to enjoy a couples bath where the water kept draining out of the bathtub (we were later told this was intentional because of plumbing issues. It truly ruined the experience but again we went along with it and enjoyed. When we were done we were surprised when the owner Jodi asked us to pay a $60 gratuity fee. It was not something she mentioned and not to mention my boyfriend purchased the service through Groupon and was under the impression services were prepaid. Jodi said to us everyone does it but you dont have to. My boyfriend feeling bad said "you can go ahead and charge my card for $40". We got home only to realize she charged the full $60. Another thing this being a surprise for me and her discussing this "tip" let me know the price and that it was purchased through Groupon. We have a great relationship so it doesn't matter but what about someone else? They would have been totally embarrassed. Jodi said she would refund the entire $60 and I said ok. It has now been 2 weeks so I called to check in with her as we had not received the refund. She told me she refunded only $20 although she said she would refund the $60. This woman is very dishonest and I simply think her lack of professionalism and deceit is repulsive. I have had many massages and this one was the worst. I bought a couples massage on groupon...we were told the massage would last 40 minutes and it didn't even last 30! The massage therapist was too rough and it was not relaxing in the least bit. At the beginning, she asked for my problem area, and then didn't even focus on that area! Then she started pushing on my stomach and I flinched and said I was 13 weeks pregnant. She stopped and said "You should have told me that." I quickly responded that I wrote it on my entry form TWICE. Not impressed. My sister bought a 75 minute hot stone massage and she was in an out of her room before an hour was up.
