For a late…read moreafternoon visit, I had to book several weeks in advance, so if you're a 9 to 5-er be mindful of their hours. Upon arrival, I was asked to complete an extensive questionnaire about my health history. They then took my vitals (blood pressure, height, weight) and I received a brief consultation from Lori including some simple dietary recommendations. It is important to note Lori is a board certified nurse practitioner, not a functional medicine MD, but for B12 shots I don't really care. You may be used to getting your B12 shots intra-muscular into your thigh or butt. Here they use a much shorter needle and inject it right into your belly fat. It was a little freaky to feel the needle go in, but not painful. You can feel the "flush" instantly. I did feel more energized the week after my shot. Not sure how effective these are for weight loss. The shots contain some amino acids like methionine that are supposed to help your liver metabolize fats. I wish they also included folate and the other B vitamins, that way I could stop taking a daily pill. They were nice enough to send me home with my next 4 weekly shots when I asked, so I won't have to come in after work. I will administer them myself, samurai style. We'll see how that goes!
