Peter at Skokie Paint has been a huge help on my projects, from drywall repair through the final top coat. With his guidance and the right pro-grade materials, I was able to get a professional-looking result on my first attempt painting two full apartment units, and I stayed on schedule. This place stands out. As a person who can literally never pick paint w/o buying like 47 samples, these guys were incredibly helpful, professional, and easy going. I felt very confident that I would find the right paint color. They didn't allow me to Kroger keep buying samples. Instead they told me to just take the color swatches home and see it in all different lights in my home. While I did buy two samples from them, the day before when I went to other store, I bought 6, I was able to find the right color. I will continue to purchase paint from this small business. Nick and Peter are awesome. And they have a rewards program where you get a discount the more paint you buy. Awesome. Paint at this store is hugely marked up and the paint was not even properly mixed for the color I had requested. Due to this mishap the touch up project made my walls even worse so now I will have to repaint the entire wall but will not be buying Benjamin Moore or from this store in the future. read more

Peter and Steve are the artist and the alchemist. They both know their stuff and can guide you with confidence. I went here looking for a discounted paint color. They did not have it, but the sales person was so friendly and tried so hard to match the color with his paint mixing machine. Even though he wasn't able to match it exactly, I was very impressed at the great service I received here. Highly recommend for personalized and friendly service. I bought Benjamin Moore paint for essentially over half my house here, albeit a more expensive paint than Lowes or Home Depot, it is so worth it b/c of the quality. Additionally, I also have a vintage pink bathroom that had several drill holes and defects in the tile - I spackled them, took in a piece of tile and Steve was great at matching the tile color so that the holes and defects are hardly noticeable. I also would rather spend a little more to support a small business like this than go to the big box stores where they are not nearly as helpful as Skokie paint. read more

I just went to Skokie Paint and Wallpaper to inquire about some Benjamin Moore paint for a touch up paint project. When I walked into the store, no one was there. I waited for about 5 minutes and a man finally came in from the back of the store. I asked about the specific color that I has used previously, however, I could not remember the exact sheen or paint type that I used. The man, who I assume is the owner, made me feel like an idiot for not knowing this information. While I realize that it's important to match the sheen and type, his delivery was very rude and dismissive. I couldn't help but wonder if he would have treated a man in the same manner. I really like to support local stores within the community, however this store will not be getting my business. read more

Today I was reminded why it is that I absolutely love mom and pop stores. The personal service that I received from the owner Steve was unbeatable and just cannot be found at the larger chain stores. He was attentive to my needs and made me feel that he really cared about my painting needs. The store was immaculate, well stocked and clean. And just in case all this wasn't good enough, Steve even helped me out to my car in the rain although I could have quite easily have managed myself with two quick trips to the car.
