The manager in the Glenview store was extremely rude and Frankley just terrible. He hardly listened to what I had to say and jumped to tell me how the will not be helpful to me, and this is after buying many gallons of paint from this store. He ended up helping me somewhat and ended with the sentence " I will do it if you don't show your face in this store anymore." As a distinguished educator for over 30 years, This is a worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will ask my friend and colleagues to avoid this place at any cost. read more

I have been a JC Licht customer for over 10 years, but today that ends. I went to the Glenview store with several pieces of paint for a color match. Art was behind the counter, and immediately told me I didn't have enough paint for a match and he needed a quarter-sized amount. Okay...I said, "I wished the woman who told me color matching could be done would also have told me the amount I needed!" I got several pieces but the largest was about the size of a dime. He asked me the amount of paint I wanted and went to the back. Didn't ask me what I was trying to do, how old the paint was, if I knew the paint color, what finish I wanted, or if I wanted no VOC. He came back 10 minutes later with a quart of paint. I asked the questions about finish and VOC, and he began this tirade about how this paint is no VOC but not "no emissions." Dude, I did not ask for "no emissions!" Ugh. This guy is really unhappy and he spreads it out into the world. Avoid him and JC Licht in Glenview at all costs. read more

We chose the JCLicht Glenview location due to it's amazing wallpaper library. We were kindly welcomed by the staff on every visit. We were assisted by Evelyn or Sue depending which of these design consultants were available. They were equally experienced and extremely helpful pulling out books from the vast array of designers and helping to narrow our choices of patterns and colors. There are tables and we were encouraged to sit, relax, enjoy and take our time scrolling through the wallpaper books. It's nice to view the large actual samples and feel the texture up close and personal. If you are in the market for wallpaper JCLicht Glenview is the place! read more

The guys behind the counter look at you like you're crazy when I called them on a statement they made "Which was wrong!" I asked Dave for help and all he could say was "I have no idea what color that is". Um, don't you work here? Sitting here waiting for an exterior paint to be matched. It has been over an hour. Was not busy when I arrived. Then busy then empty. Was initially told ( in a dour way) 30 minutes. After sitting here an hour I was asked if I needed help. I asked them to check status of my paint and was told 20 more minutes. An hour and a half -- really? I have contractors waiting at home. My contractor is a regular customer at this store. Very disappointing. Paint probably will not be a match when all is said and done. Last time this store location. read more

Assistant Store Manager Doug Warnicki makes this store the place to go for paint! He knows the colors and is able to offer a knowledgeable opinion. We purchased 2 gallons of paint and didn't buy the suggested pint sample first. Our mistake! When we returned, Doug worked with us, offered us a coupon and resolved our situation amicably. The other employees are also personable and helped us carry the supplies to the car; the parking is great. The paint is wonderful! Highly recommend this establishment! Very helpful staff (Doug) was able to determine which quality paint and color scheme were best suited for my home. He also was spot on with the amount of paint I needed to buy, which was great, since I always buy too much. When I called the store a month later because I was touching up a wall at my church, New Life Oak Forest, he was able to complete my order on the phone and arrange a pickup closer to where I was working. The Glenview store is a bit out of the way for me, but it will always be my first call since they know exactly how to service a customer. Looking forward to my next painting project! read more

This was my first visit to this store and I was lucky enough to get a very knowledgeable young lady named Jenn. She definitely knows her paint and paint finishes. I was so impressed and thrilled she was helping me with my paint selections.So kind & sweet to talk to. I have been going to the JC Licht store in Northbrook for years but my last visit left me confused and upset with the staff. Nobody seemed to want assist me at the Northbrook store or answer my questions.The only thing they did, was sell me the most expensive paint they had. I've been in this store multiple times and have had many helpful and nice interactions with the other gentlemen at the paint counter and Evelyn with the wallpapers and blinds. However, I've been most unfortunate to have had Art assist me in paints multiple times. Even when he hasn't been the person helping me, he has still somehow found a way to be condescending to a coworker and or rude to myself. I've been going to this store for almost 20 years and have only received top-notch service! All of the workers are helpful, but Art, in particular is wizard! I have brought in pictures of the rooms I've wanted to paint, along with samples of carpet, countertops, siding, etc. and Art has patiently guided me toward making excellent color choices. He is knowledgeable and has a great eye for color. Over the years, he has come to know what I will like even before I know what I will like! The people who work there are phenomenal. They are so helpful, knowledgable and nice. We are re-painting our full house and I had to select many different colors. Between going to buy samples and buying the final paint, I must have gone there about 10 times over the last two weeks. Employees are very tentative and informative on their product selection. They answered every question I had and guided me in the right direction. They are very knowledgeable. Quick update to say that I continue to value Evelyn's perseverance, professionalism, and sincerity. Come to find out that there was a slight manufacturer-based hiccup in January. This place was without a shadow of a doubt the reason my basement looks as fabulous as it does!! They were instrumental in making my paint choosing as painless as possible. Evelyn was fantastic, patient and really made me feel she cared about my project! Terrific place to go for paint colors, wall coverings and window treatments. When we were moving into our condo I talked with Evelyn Martinez regarding paint colors. She was very helpful and had many suggestions even getting me to realize what colors I kept going back to. She even mention when the trim is painted have the painters use 3 coats of paint which really made a difference I wouldn't have even considered more than 2 coats. Then a few months later I went back in to order blinds for our living room and bedroom. Again Evelyn expertise made it easy to choose because she was so knowledgeable. read more

I have been to several Epco paint stores in the neighborhood and this location is the one to SKIP. They have terrible customer service and are incredibly rude. I waited there, patiently for like 20 minutes...right at the desk. They completely ignored me. Two people looked me right in the eye and moved on to do something else. I didn't want to be rude back, so I just waited...Then finally someone spoke, only to say, "Please move ma'm so this gentleman can pay." WHAT?? Just because I'm not a contractor, doesn't mean I'm not a customer. Go to any other Epco paint store for better service. This place was a waste of time. read more

I found this store on line. Although the rating is not good but it was close to my job site and thought just gave it a try. It turned out that I had very bad experience with this store. The people here are not interested in selling paint to customers. They do not consider discounts even if I plan to buy 30+ gallons of very expensive paint. They are very unfriendly and even hostile when ask to give discounts. I have had a very bad experience to deal with a bunch of unprofessional people and I see why they have such a poor rating. This store was FABULOUS when it was on Glenview Rd and it is still terrific but it feels more spacious. Customer service, even for those of us who are DIY'ers is great. They are courteous and always make sure I have the supplies I need on hand, they give me tips to make my job go better, you get the picture. you want flowers you go to home depot. if you want paint you come to this place. i made the mistake of going to home depot before i knew that this store was 10 minutes away from me. upon arriving i noticed that there were a lot of customers in the store. this just tells me that they do quite well. they noticed my presence and asked what i would need help with. got everything i needed to do my floor, great help. i don't know what the first review was about but definitely needs to get off her high horse. highly recommend this place. read more
