Apparently, there is a terrace, but I didn't know at the time. There's definitely are at least two levels, with a lounge in the second. Looking through their cocktail menu, I found that they definitely don't want to be boring with their offerings. There was a whole page of slightly different Gin and Tonics! However, I must say they are expensive (cocktails, not just G & Ts) Anyways, being curious about that purple liquid I saw, I decided to try the Violet Spritz. The drink came out pretty quick. It cost 6 euro something. I think maybe a little steep, but better than 12 that the cocktails cost. Worth it. It was just the right blend of sweet, bubbly, and alcoholic (not too strong, not too weak). I also lived the tiny Violet petals on the bottom of the glass. They were edible too! The booths on the street are comfortable, so if you need to get off your feet it's a great spot. Otherwise, nothing much else to report. Staff wasn't overly nice and it didn't wow me, but I'm glad I stopped in for a short light lunch and refreshing glass of champagne on a warm day.

I adore Liebling - not just for its name, but also its Spritzers! Quick German lesson: 'Liebling'…read moreis about as close as German comes to the English word 'darling.' The interior of this place looks like a mish-mash of furniture bought from random flea markets and secondhand stores; each chair and table is different from the others. The wall that looks like it's been scratched away and chairs stuck on the walls all add to Liebling's edgy charm. It's so very easy to overlook Liebling during the day as it's tucked away on a small side street off of much busier Mariahilferstrasse. But don't be fooled: it fills up quickly come night time and especially on Fridays and Saturdays. During the warmer months, they have a little parklet set up right outside for drinking al fresco. When I say they fill up quickly, they truly do! This holds especially true in December. What I love about Liebling are their Spritzers. A spritzer is basically an alcoholic drink made of white wine and sparkling mineral water. It is such an Austrian thing and it's one of my favourite things about living in Vienna! It is the perfect thirst-quencher in the summer and the perfect thing to order again and again when hanging out with friends. It's easy to order one after another when it's just SO good. Liebling has a wide array of different spritzers, at least 10 different ones! Each one is between €3-4. While they have the classically traditional G'spritzter (White Wine Spritzer), which I find no fault in, my favourite has to be the Rosenspritzer (Rose Spritzer). It's a beautiful drink laden with rose petals for an extra fancy touch. Other spritzers they have include: ginger, blood orange and thyme, red grapefruit and basil, violet flowers, rhubarb, and more! I love all the ones I've tried here. If only spritzers were more of a thing here in SoCal. These are my favourite things to drink when I just wanna chill with friends and don't want to get a hangover. I also like to think that I'm getting much-needed hydration from the mineral water in each and every spritzer. Built-in hydration, for the win! One thing I dislike about Liebling is how utterly smokey it is in the bar. It is Europe after all and bars in large part allow smoking all over Vienna. There are only a few bars that are non-smoking, unfortunately. So, expect to smell cigarette smoke the entire time you're in here. During the day, they serve brunch/breakfast foods but I myself have never gone here for food. I went strictly for the noteworthy spritzers!

We sat on their patio, which was lovely. And the service was great as well. Their breakfast menu has lots of options, probably something for everyone! My friend had their Viennese breakfast (soft boiled egg, butter, jam, honey, organic roll, and organic rye bread), and I had their salmon scrambled eggs (bread with cream cheese, salmon tataki, sea salt, truffle, and cress), which was different than I was expecting but delicious. We each had a couple of coffees and really enjoyed our leisurely breakfast at JOMA.

The Loos Bar was designed by famous Viennese architect and design Adolf Loos in 1908. It's 290 square feet of onyx, marble, and mahogany. It really is an incredible space. (They do have outdoor seating but if it's your first visit to the Loos Bar, you want to sit inside - it's part of the experience.) It's a cocktail bar, so my friend and I each ordered a cocktail according to our preferences from the menu - which is huge. My friend had a cocktail made with mezcal, and I had the Adolf Loos Spritzer (champagne, soda, strawberries, and mint). We both enjoyed our cocktails. Mine was exactly what I wanted on a warm afternoon day - refreshing and light. We went in the early afternoon, because I worried that this tiny little bar would get packed if we went at a more traditional hour for cocktails. It was pretty empty when we arrived and sat inside. So that's what's great about the Loos Bar - the design, the style, the drinks, the history. What's not so great? The service wasn't great, pretty unfriendly/unwelcoming (our bartender seemed almost offended we'd bothered him by ordering a drink). And they have a dress code - no flip flops, backpacks, or shorts (although "elegant shorts are welcome outdoors"). The dress code is reasonable, I suppose, and I probably wouldn't have minded if it weren't for the poor service. Despite this bad service, I can't give the Loos Bar any less than four stars, because it was one of the coolest bars I've ever visited: an amazing, historic space and some great cocktails, too.
