Plunging into my 30's never felt so goood!!…read more was a little tricky getting here... but i think it was due to writing down the directions incorrectly... but we made it right on time. we got checked in at the front and signed our lives away... then we met the divers we were going to be strapped on and we made our way to the first tent to change..... there is an option where you can video record your experience.... but i decided to bring my own camera up to do the trick- only downside is there was no way i could record the free fall...but everything else i got!! the plane was small..quite a tight squeeze, but we got all 10 of us in... they gave us (literally) a 3 min tutorial on how to move our bodies when jumping...and we were up and away! the fly up is beautiful..the view is amazing...and the people there, soooo super cool!! gerry was my pro diver-- over 15,000 jumps man!! i think he said he is 66 years old! wow!! while we floated down, he showed me the different views and pointed out which city was which... he was great. if you are scared... lemme tell you this: you have NO time to think about being scared.. you sign in, change, fly through the tutorial..hop on the plane..once you are at 10,000 feet (yes, 10,000!!)- the door opens, you hang your feet out and before you can say any final words, you are FALLING. i had 40 amazing seconds of free falling before the chute was opened. i screamed for a little bit-- but stopped, there was really no point in doing that. and no, my life did not flash before my eyes. landing was easy peasy! did it like a pro ;) there are really no words to describe the jump.... it is something you have to experience. this is a great place to do it at because they have their own air space and landing strip so you wont have to worry about airplanes flying by and making you wait. would i do it again? in a second! but id like to jump outta a plane in a different country next time!

Warning! Risk of life! This tour operator works very…read moredangerous and with the sole purpose of making money! The accommodations they describe as comfortable are terrific cabins, some with no drinking water from taps. The worst thing, which puts the passenger's life at serious risk are the buses, with rebuilt tires and tread-offs. We were stopped for this by the police, who rightly blocked the bus forbidding to continue. We waited for more than 9 hours of help in the night, in the mountains, on a trail of the freeway in the forest, that they would be rescued. These incapable people came from Calgary, far more than 430 miles of small buses, instead of getting cabs from Jasper, near 15 minutes, to get us to sleep there fast. Not to spend extra, they brought us where the reservation was and we arrived in this last dreary dorm at 4 and a half in the morning, after a nightmare. We were vacationing on Vancouver Island a couple of weeks ago and came to Skydive Vancouver Island…read moreto do our first ever tandem jump. We were staying near Victoria but we come from a land where something that is 2 hours away can take you 4 hours to get to in traffic, so we ended up arriving super early. We were met by Allison who was just a bundle of good vibe energy and made us feel comfortable and relaxed as she did our intake. She paired us with Joe and Guilly for our adventure and while Guilly was already assisting someone else safely back to earth, Joe geared us up and got us ready. We piled into the van and off to the airstrip we went. Now, I'm not a fan of small planes so I was actually more concerned about the flight up in the Cessna than the actual jump itself but our pilot Ben was amazing and the incredible views quickly obliterated any fears. The thought of this never crossed my mind before we went skydiving but motion sickness is a thing. Thankfully I wasn't physically sick but I was definitely feeling the effects! Since our jump, I have done a little research and read in an article that if the motion is bothering you, you should communicate this to your instructor and they can help to manage your symptoms; I suppose by the way they control the chute. I don't know if that's true but it's worth a try. I think next time (because there will definitely be a next time), I will pre-medicate with Gravol because my brain is wired in such a way that, if something is fun to do but makes me feel ill, I will take whatever measures are necessary to build up a tolerance so I can do it ALL. THE. TIME. That being said, I likely would not have appreciated it at the time but looking back, I'm a little jealous that my husband was somersaulted out of the plane and got to try his hand at controlling the parachute but I didn't. I think Skydive Vancouver Island pride themselves on being able to gauge the vibe of their customers so maybe Guilly felt that I was more reserved... or perhaps he just didn't trust that we wouldn't end up in Nanaimo, Whistler or Thunder Bay Ontario had he given the reins over to me. I don't know... but next time Guilly, I want to somersault out of the plane and I want to try my hand at controlling the chute. I will come prepared. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this experience and I have thought about it every day since. I felt completely safe from bottom to top and top to bottom. I want to thank the entire team for making our first jump so memorable and to Guilly... Senna Forever. IYKYK ;) xx
