Dr. Damico was my doctor from the time I was 25 years old Dr Purcell was my doctor along with Dr. Damico from the time I was 28. Then something changed and receptionists would no longer book appointments for me at this location. Prior to that I was able to go to the landing office or the Blairstown office. I went in on July 19, 2023 for a rash on my leg. I paid my copay, in and out in 15 minutes with a script for antibiotic crème and prednisone. Got my bill yesterday. After my copay and insurance paying $125, these "professionals" are charging me another $25 for "brief mental health screening".....I was there for a rash on my leg!!!! in and out for a normal check up with no problems. got ordered to do some stuff to just make sure everything's okay. i don't like the website they provide to see your medical stuff because it didn't give any information the person told me and some stuff seemed slightly off whether the website is wrong or it was put in wrong by the doctor. overall the experience was nice and people were nice. first time here and will be going back. also realized after standing in the lobby for 5-10 mins that there are 3 different windows to go to and they have specific doctor names on them read more

As a Healthcare worker myself, the unprofessional treatment towards Patients given by all of the receptionist staff at 5:20,pm, 7/22/2020 was disgusting!! 1. They turned their answering service ON before 5pm so No patients who had scheduled appt. could call into them to advise they were waiting outside. They had some lame excuse it was the answering services issue. Yeah, no it wasn't because you need to call them and advise them you are leaving and give On-call Dr. name, not to mention, usually hit Night-Night mode on the phone system. It took literally banging hard on the door to get staff inside to come to the door! They had the audacity to ask in an extremely rude and condescending tone "did you call" and were shut down real quick when all people waiting stated "Your phones say your CLOSED!!! And then just abruptly closed the door in people's faces. 2. The Receptionists behind the partition who always seem to act like they hate their job and you're bothering them, no matter when you go there, all had attitudes. Especially the one who was at Dr. Damico's Window. Andrea I believe her name was or something similar! When politely going to her to hand in account balance Payment, her very dramatic Eye roll as she was stuffing her face was so unprofessional and very common it's laughable! Then getting her attitude as she finally opened the slider and says "leave it there" very lucky it wasn't tossed at her face!! 3. The Nurse was Amazing as they usually are. It's really Pathetic that this practice continues to allow these receptionists represent their Doctors and Practice in such a way as this one continues. I have been coming here since before the new building was ever built and it just gets worse and worse and now after this recent typical receptionist experience, it has me now looking for new PCP for myself and my 2 kids because Ive had it with their unprofessional, condescending, hate my job continues attitude from the Receptionist staff! read more

I was using this practice for a very long time and was a loyal patient throughout all of the construction and electronic changes. I finally became fed up with having to wait a minimum of an hour (even if I got there early) just to see a nurse, then another 15-20 minutes in the room to see the doctor. The staff behind the desk are just plain rude and have no appreciation for the patients (the ones who pay the doctor who pay their hourly rate!). I notified the doctor one time that I could hear everything from the patient's room in my room and the doctor just told me that it is what it is (so much for HIPAA!). What is worse, is during this economic crisis, I lost my health insurance and just to go to the doctor because I was genuinely sick cost me close to $120 just to get some antibiotics. The only good thing that the practice has going for them is the nurse Pat!! Just because this office is in a decent location, doesn't mean you need to put down by negative and unhappy individuals. Drive the extra 5 minutes in another direction and find a different practice!! read more

I have had mixed experiences with the doctors practicing medicine at this location. APT WAIT TIME: Expect to wait 45minutes to an hour in the waiting room, with an additional 15 minute wait time in the exam room. DR. EXPERIENCE: Earlier this year, my husband had an infection which he was prescribed penicillin for. After being on this medication for a couple of days, he had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. With ankles the size of grapefruits, we called and spoke with the doctor on call who misinformed us that the antibiotics would be out of my husbands system, so his swelling wouldn't be due to being allergic to the antibiotic. My husband knew the Dr to be mistaken, and made an appointment with a different GP at this practice the next day where he was given a low dosage of steroids and no replacement for the antibiotic. Another week went by, during which the symptoms subsided to a manageable level, however as soon as the medicine ran out, the symptoms returned tenfold, to the point where his hands began to malt and both legs were swelling from thigh to ankle. This time we went to an immunologist, who determined he was suffering a systematic allergic reaction to the penicillin which had poisoned his blood. He was given a high dosage of steroids and antihistamines, and the initial infection was still present and so additional medications were given to treat the symptoms. My husband has not been back to this practice following this experience. 72 BUSINESS HOURS??? I have requested prescriptions and notified to expect a phone call within 72 business hours. Depending on the workweek, that could imply an almost 2 week waiting time. Initially, i thought it was a clerical error, and they were setting expectations for a 3 day turnaround, however, that is NOT the case here. It took me up to 3 weeks, 5 phone calls, and 3 office visits to the office staff to get the prescriptions i was seeking. If i wasn't in the process of maintaining a 3 month record with a GP for insurance company to gain approval for a procedure, i would have moved on from this practice by now. read more

Both other reviews are spot on. Be prepared to be there for at least an hour. I've been going here for years and the wait time is AT LEAST 45 minutes, then another wait of usually 15 more once in office to be seen. The reception staff will at least keep you clued in to what they are doing behind their desks, usually ordering food, or talking about what they're going to order. This past visit they were discussing a patient running 10 minutes late & that it was actually longer than 10- Hey Ladies, what does it matter if they are just gonna sit for an hour? I've called, Express-Scripts has called, written and faxed .. nothing. I never had any complaints. But called to ask for ear drops n antibiotics due to me having swimmers ear. They took my request and called super close to closing time telling g me call Monday.. seriously if you ever had swimmers ear it is super painful. And sleeping. Let alone laying down is so uncomfortable. I never asked for anything that was used for anything but what's going on. I get this two times a year. I know what I need. If I wait t Monday. U are crazy. No way it's possible. So I called phone service ( since it was closed now and no scripts ) I asked for on call dr will call me. Well that's a joke. I am not patient nor ever was of his (ur in a group of doctors practice ) he is mad , and it's all just looking crazy. Rushing me off the phone. Since The office just closed he doesn't feel I should if called Is the vibe he gives me. Totally doesn't care I was telling him that I was in pain , and needed relieve. Like honestly. In 3 visits waited 40 mins 1st visit, 2 hours 2nd, 1.45 hours on the 3rd. Will never go back. Other reviews are correct at least for Shah. Exam room walls are paper thin and I could hear everything about every other patient. Ironically she had the same thing to say to everyone, "watch what you eat, lose weight and keep a food diary". Just cause you are a doctor doesn't mean you are competent. Clearly they are worried about quantity over quality here. read more

To start with if I could give this place zero stars I would unfortunately I have to at least give it one star to post a review. So I make an appointment with the doctor and going to see them the only thing they do is ask me questions the entire time that I'm there first of all I sit there and I wait for an hour in the waiting room and another hour in the room waiting for the doctor I've never in my life the doctor was so rude and so nasty sitting there telling me what she would and wouldn't have done and not even asking me what my actual symptoms are what's currently going on nothing then they scheduled me for another visit so that way they can get test results from the emergency room visit that I had only to try to charge me again then I'm told that I have to pay a co-pay every time I walk to the door irregardless my insurance pays for a wellness visit which didn't give me they just charge me for it anyway I will never ever again go to this place for any type of medical care and if you have any sense in your health and well-being I would never step foot in this place ever. Then the room that I'm in to see the doctor is also the storage room so people were walking in and out getting medical supplies while I'm sitting there waiting for the doctor it was absolutely ridiculous. I have been coming to Skylands Medical for years now and I'm not sure why I have not moved doctors yet. To start, the majority of receptionist are rude, dismissive, and just miserable. They barely look up to greet you. The wait times are always 45 minutes to an hour. One time I waited 2 hours in the waiting room alone! Not even counting time waiting in the examination room. I will say some of the nurses are nice but all the doctors with the exception of Dr. Purcell have awful bedside manners and rush you out. The last thing you want to experience when you go in for an examination or illness is a rude, impatient doctor. I will be switching out of this office soon as I am so disgusted with the way this medical practice is run. read more

I see Dr Purcell and I think he is a very nice, caring Dr. However, no Dr can perform his duty the way he is supposed to if he is like triple overbooked. I went there yesterday - had a 3:45appt - sat in the waiting room for an hour until I was called in & then had to wait in the office again. To say the least, my BP wasn't low and since he was "hurried" (Dr Purcell will always give you time) I forgot to ask him a few things while I was there. Just came from my appointment, different doctor this time, same experience. The ladies behind the counter are so indifferent and dismissive towards the customers that it's hard to justify revisiting this practice even if you're satisfied with your physician. These ladies behind the counter don't even have the courtesy or professionalism to look up at you when they're speaking to you. Today I had the bad timing to approach the counter when this particular lady was checking her phone for WHATEVER!!! Which further added to my wait time which this office is famous for. I usually sit in the waiting room a half hour to an hour past my scheduled appointment time just to be admitted. I see two doctors here and I like them. But the receptionist staff have chased me away. I'll be looking for new doctors soon, hopefully with a more courteous staff. read more

I just finished reading all the reviews,and I am sorry they had bad experiences. I have been going there for years. Yes I occassionally wait,but that is pretty rare.There USE to be a bit of a problem with some staff,but I have not seen that in recent years. I find all the Doctors , Nurses,Assistants to be both professional and courteous. The Doctor I primarily see even follows up with phone calls to me.I would definetly recommend Skylands to all my friends and family. read more

The wait can be long but the doctors are excellent. I also like that I can go to any of 7 primary care locations and have seen doc's at other Skylands locations too. People do not understand that Skylands is a certified primary care center which means the dr's deal with all kinds of complex cases instead of sending everyone to a specialist where you may wait 3 months for an appointment. I understand not liking thin walls but THAT has nothing to do with HIPAA which is a law dealing with electronic transmission of private medical information. Its sd others have found the receptionists to be indifferent. Tell your doctor! Maybe they are overworked and too busy read more
