    Happy on the boat

The owner Robert is a really great guy. Super honest, helpful, and just extremely pleasant to work with. They embody the definition of great family owned business. I rented a boat for a day and Robert showed me the best sites to go to as well as where to eat afterwards. Super down to earth, highly recommended, they answered all my questions about boat launch and walked me through how to do it step by step. I met his wife and kid and he shared quite a few stories. Will be back. Rent your boat here and you'll be taken care of.

    They allow pets onboard!

Had an amazing boating experience at Lake Powell. Robert was super nice and accommodating every step of the way. He also did a great job teaching us all the tricks to load and unload the boat onto the trailer (something I had never done before). Everything on the boat worked exactly as expected. If you are new to Lake Powell like we were, I would highly recommend Skylite as they take extra care about making sure you are well prepared to have an awesome time!

I did not rent their boat. What I rent was their RV. It's a super nice and cool RV. And, you don't need to worry about driving the long RV around. It was just set in their parking lot with a beautiful view. The decorations inside were very new. I was lucky to get a chance to get this RV from the owner Robert. He and his son are very nice people. I felt so sorry to break their door openerHowever, they did not mad at me. If I come back to here again, I will rent this place for sure!

This is my second time come to lake Powell , we didn't rent boat last time so we decide to try this time. We are very happy that we chose this rental company, guys from this company are so nice and helpful, when we pick up the boat , the guy shows us a lot of things we need to know about the boat, and when we return it , the guy who named Robert ,which is the owner of this company, very understanding, told us some nice view spot about the lake Powell , and restaurants. We heard about some bad reviews about this previous owner of this company before. But since last year , the new owner, Robert and his father, bought this company, they are changing everything, trying to let every customer happy. If we come back again, we definitely will come back to Skylite!!

My family and I rented a small Bayliner for one day so we could explore Lake Powell. I reserved it a couple of months ahead of time, and the whole process was super easy. When I got there to get the boat, the blower wasn't working, but they fixed it fast and gave me extra time to return it. They were really nice and accommodating. I would definitely recommend them.

    Wakeboarding Late November 2015

My son and I decided on a late-November trip to Lake Powell four months ago. We had rented from Skylite a decade ago, so contacted them again. The brand-new owners, Teri and Bob, were great! They were just changing locations, and did the work before we arrived to ensure we could charge our electric car from one of their welding sockets at the new place. When we arrived, they thoroughly went over everything, making sure we were fully prepped to wakeboard behind their 22' Bayliner with tower. Teri even ran back to their house to get us towels, because they thought ours were too thin. The tow vehicle, trailer, boat, and wakeboarding equipment all worked flawlessly. We had the lake to ourselves and had a blast! Here was the real test, though: through an act of carelessness, I damaged the winch on the trailer. I let them know, and pointed out another cosmetic issue I saw related to the accident. Bob and Teri, *at the same time*, said "no!" They explained the second issue was pre-existing. They charged me so little for the damage I felt guilty. Their new location is great, and they are wonderful people. The equipment worked perfectly (until I damaged it, and then it still worked). We will be back again and again!

Kayaking through antelope canyon got to the very back and hiked into the canyon! It's stunning!!

Skylite is the place to go to rent any type of water sport toys. Not only are they the nicest ppl they actually care about your experience and want you to have the best possible time! They give outstanding tips, directions and are so knowledgeable about the lake and how to have fun while being safe. This was my boyfriend and I first time towing, launching, and renting a boat! They completely made it possible for us to do this with their awesome prices and guidance. They beat all other rental company's out of the water. We will only be using skylite rentals whenever we come back to Lake Powell which is going to be very soon since we had such an amazing time! Thank you so much guys you really did make our trip.

If you have vehicle that can tow a boat, I would definitely recommend Buzz Off Power Sports because it is much more reasonably priced than the other companies on the water. When we got to the location, Buzz and Leslie gave us a map and highlighted areas where low water levels were low, which we found extremely helpful and made sure to stay clear of. They also showed us the locations of where we can get fuel and ice. Also very helpful! Those beers can't stay cold on their own! ;) We reserved the Montery 214 powerboat and it couldn't have been more perfect! The boat was in excellent condition, easy to drive, and had a great wave. We went wake-boarding quite a bit that weekend and had to refuel the boat. There's a gas station at Buzz Off, so we didn't have to go through the hassle finding one. Convenience! I will definitely rent from this location again!

If you want to rent watercraft or other water toys for Lake Powell, check around and you will see…read morethat this place offers the best pricing. After you rent from them you will also know that they are great, honest people who treat you right. The husband and wife team of Buzz and Leslie make you feel like family. They are patient when going over the equipment, explaining everything about how to operate them, and they are happy to answer any questions about the lake or the area. We rented two Honda FX-12's for one week in July 2011. They were in great condition, ran strong, and were a blast. The Honda's were on a nice double trailer, and they even offered extra gas cans and anchor bags at no charge. My hitch was a little "tall" for the setup so they provided a lower hitch which worked great. Next time we come back I won't bother looking around for a place to rent my toys, I will just call Leslie and set it up. They are located about 15 minutes from the Wawheap Marina, and 20 from Page. Looking forward to seeing them again soon!!

She said yes but the benefit of using them was they carried the boards down and up a steep hill. We were there on Saturday April 25th. So we rented two paddle boards and she warned us about the winds. It was like $155. She was nice so we went for it. We get to the site and are waiting around. They haven't even taken the boards off the truck, but we were fine waiting. Layla finally made it up the HILL and had 2 boards taken off the truck and laid on the ground. I asked if any of the MANY men who were there and carrying kayaks down, was going to carry them down. She said no, you carry them. And that hill was STEEP. I figured meh, okay. I was annoyed since we were told they'd be ready for us at the bottom. Layla carried my paddle. Once I saw the hill, I was even more annoyed but I already paid $155 plus $30 entry to the lake. When we got to the bottom, she mentioned when we got back I had to carry it back up. I said I'm not doing that. lol. She held my leash so I could climb on my board. Not an easy task where we were. The paddle boarding was rough but we knew that, the girls at the office warned us. 5 miles later we returned. I STRUGGLED getting off the board and trying to haul it up by myself, my body was shaking and I was visibly exhausted. A young man who worked for this place, WATCHED me struggle. Asked how it was, I said it sucked. He mentioned me carrying the board up that steep hill, while I was shaking from exhaustion and out of breath, and I said "I'm not doing that" and he replied with "why is it heavy?" I did carry my life jacket and paddle...but after that comment I REALLY didn't want to. Layla gave me a water at the top and said to take a breath, I was breathing very heavy. I'd say don't rent paddle boards. You will have to carry them up and down the hill and will get no assistance getting off the board either. But they did carry the kayaks and help those people who also paid like we did, in and out of the kayaks. So maybe rent those and not the paddle boards.

A friend and I booked this event for her 40th birthday and it was the absolute highlight of our trip! We were thinking of renting kayaks and doing it ourselves but are both so grateful that we didn't because our tour guide, Ryan, was fantastic-- extremely knowledgeable, helpful, witty, and patient with us, as we were both beginners. He made it really fun! We learned that Britney Spears shot her video "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman" there, too! This was so worth it and will definitely be coming back and booking with Ryan!

Notified them immediately via radio because nobody answered four phone calls. Straight to voicemail. It's 103° and we have two infants. Said we were "a priority". It's 4pm and silence. Lake Powell is gorgeous but this is insane. Customer service isn't second, it's non existent. Absolute clown show. The concession hasn't been put to bid since 1969. Kick Aramark out.

Here are some takeaways from our most recent trip on a houseboat in June 2022…read more.. 1) You have to book this boat 1 year in advance. Expect to pay around $8k plus gas, plus insurance. It's roughy $10k for a middle of the road boat for 5 days when it all adds up. 2) We had the 62' Journey. It did not look like any of the pictures online, it was much dated, but it worked, for the most part. Make sure you check everything before you go - the fridge, freezer, are so important, the generator too! 3) We did a "pre-board" and I recommend doing this if you are renting a boat in Powell. What a pre-board means is that at 5pm the night before you can board the boat, vs. waiting until 3:30pm the following day. This way, you wake up the next day, get checked out and you are on your merry way to find a spot to dock your boat. It's a great way to go. It does cost extra, and also know they will not let you on that boat anytime before 5pm, we tried. If you go this route as well, know that the people working on the dock are busy with the people who are boarding for that day, they are driving golf carts with their luggage and food, etc. and will not likely be able to help you until the next day, if not later in that day, so be prepared to carry your stuff to your boat, if you don't want to wait for someone. 4) Get the insurance. Do not sign up to pay for anything that breaks on that boat, it's $70/day for the insurance and trust me when you look at your boat you are going to want that. 5) If you are not savvy with boats, don't attempt to do anything if it's really windy or there are other poor weather conditions. You will have a hard time, and if there are any conditions like this I recommend waiting til it dies down to move your boat, park your boat on shore, etc. We were listening to the radio at the dock and we happened to come back in on a very windy day. It was A MESS. People losing anchors, things breaking, hitting other boats, etc. Just sit still if the weather isn't good and wait for a nice calm day to move your boat. Honestly our kids enjoyed their time being parked at the marina and on the boat, you aren't missing much and you will be safer. 5) Here's some general houseboating tips -- the slide is fun AF :), bring an iphone cord that adapts to the standard outlet so you can play music or bring a portable speaker, bring DVDs, bring a UHF radio so you can connect with the boat, and/or bring walkie talkies, you will want binoculars to see the numbered buoys, plan your food each day so you don't overpack, keep your meals simple. You do have a cooler and you will need quite a bit of ice, put some ice in your freezer so you have backup during your stay on the boat, ask the dock for a tow rope for your speedboat, and ask the person checking you out for recommendations on where to park, do your research first but ask them, they know best! For the price they charge you could go to a tropical island...the beauty of Powell is that 1) it's beautiful and 2) you don't have any service. #2 is a huge draw for me. It's truly a place to disconnect. You are basically camping on the water, just keep that in mind, it's an experience for sure! We saw Antelope marina on our way in/out of our camping spot. I would consider them next time, their boats looked nicer and they have good reviews on Yelp, they are closer to Padre Bay too, just a thought that was going throug my head...no idea how the experience is there but maybe take a look at them as well. Also the Axiom Star is the best boat, if you can get it. It's really lovely inside. The other one that is on the nicer end is the Wanderer. But if you can get the Axiom -- it's very very nice. Much nicer than what we were on! I had tried to book that a year in advance it was already taken.

Check-in felt a bit like standing in a slow car rental line. We waited about 15 minutes while a line formed behind us, and there was a form with disclaimers to sign before getting the room key. Our room was in Building 7. The rooms feel dated, and housekeeping seemed inconsistent. We had 2 bath towels, 2 makeup towels, and 1 hand towel, but no washcloths and no pool towels. The front desk said pool towels should be in the room, but there are none available at the pool itself. Our bathtub drain was clogged, so water pooled during showers, and one of the bed frames had something unpleasant on the fabric that clearly should have been cleaned. Amenities were also disappointing for a property charging a nightly resort fee. The hot tub jets were broken, the water wasn't warm, and it looked pretty dirty. The pools are not heated, so they were ice cold in April. Ironically, the hot tub appeared to finally start working the morning we checked out. Food options on site include the Driftwood Lounge, a breakfast deli, and the Rainbow Room for buffet and dinner (reservations required for dinner). The buffet was just okay -- next time I'd skip it and order an entrée instead. The hot & spicy wings at the lounge were decent. Overall, I gave it 3 stars because the staff were very kind and the views are fantastic. If we stayed again, we'd come with the expectation of enjoying the scenery rather than the amenities.
