Matt understood the coverage our policy provided and worked directly with the insurance company to get all that we deserved, never misleading us or the insurance company. With Matt's explanation to the insurance company, they quickly approved the additional work. Phase 4 got right to work and our house wound up looking better than before the tree fell. I had heard of horror stories of people working with insurance companies and contractors. This was not the case for us. Phase 4 came through for us.

I had an absolutely nightmare experience using Al's roofing to fix a leak and would recommend…read moreanybody read on before making the same mistake I did. The photo is of my ceiling following Al's 4th attempt to fix a leak. I hired Al's Roofing to fix my roof after noticing water stains on a bedroom ceiling. They offered me two solutions, $750 to fix the leak or $1,850 to "fix leak and other not properly made areas." I chose option 2 as I wanted to avoid future leaks and headaches. After Al's telling me the leak was fixed and cashing my check, I paid $2,460 to replace the damaged ceiling. Fast forward through a couple rain storms, and I noticed water stains in the exact same spot as before, except now it had progressed from water stains to full on water bubbles in the paint. I called Al's to come out and take another look, and they claimed to have fixed it, yet their 2nd fix ending up causing even more water damage as future rain came. More rain came, and more water bubbles kept occurring my ceiling. I called Al's to come back a third and fourth time for further attempts to resolve the leak. After the fourth time, I realized Al's is incapable of fixing the leak, so I had multiple other roofing companies come out to take a look. Both mentioned the attempts to fix the leak, as well as the fixing of the other "not properly made areas," were done poorly and below their standards. Expressing my severe displeasure with the service provided and the inability to fix the leak, Al's offered me a lowly compensation of $750 which was the initial quote to fix the leak. Despite my request for a full refund based on the fact the additional work couldn't be ruled out as having exacerbated the leak as well as not being done to a high standard, Al's refused to provide good customer service, insultingly suggested I just go through home insurance and pay a deductible to fix my water damaged ceiling. After multiple months of dealing with Al's Roofing, I am $3,560 poorer and have a worse bedroom ceiling than what I started with. I can't in good conscience suggest anyone ever become a customer of Al's Roofing, as I know I never will again.

When we were choosing a contractor, Mr. Contractor's Yelp rating gave me some hesitation - especially given the high ratings elsewhere. But when I read the reviews themselves rather than just looking at the overall rating, many of the complaints seemed to involve relatively small jobs. We needed someone for a large, complicated renovation of a very old house, and the experience and capabilities Ken demonstrated seemed much better suited to that kind of project. Having now completed the job, I'm very glad we made that distinction. This was a big project, and our old house threw plenty of surprises at us. Once the demo began, our engineer found that part of the kitchen needed to be structurally rebuilt from the foundation up. That meant coordinating with our architect and structural engineer and substantially expanded the work. Despite that and the many twists and turns that followed, Ken and his crew kept things moving and completed an extraordinary amount of work in just 10 weeks. What really stood out was the crew. These guys were craftsmen who took genuine pride in what they were building. More than once, they spent extra time on something simply to get the finished result just right or recommended enhancements that were not charged. A friend who is a high-end interior designer saw the kitchen afterward and was impressed by the quality of the construction and attention to detail. We also lived in the house throughout the renovation. The crew was friendly and respectful, and they cleaned up the work areas at the end of every day -- something we came to appreciate enormously during 10 weeks of construction. Was every little detail perfect the first time? No. But that's actually part of why I'm comfortable giving Ken five stars. When something wasn't right, he worked to make it right. He and his team stayed engaged through the end of the project, addressed our punch-list items, and have continued to stand behind their work afterward. And we LOVE the result. The kitchen has completely changed the way we live in the house. It has become the place where our family naturally gathers, and it's as comfortable and functional to cook in as it is beautiful. The new bathroom has been equally transformative. At the beginning, I worried that we might be spending too much on the project - and it was significant. But by the end, having seen the amount of work involved and the quality and care that went into it, I felt exactly the opposite: we received very good value for our money. My takeaway is that Ken's particular strength is a substantial, complex project where you need an experienced GC who can keep multiple trades moving, deal with unexpected conditions, solve problems as they arise, and see the whole thing through. Renovating a 130-year-old house isn't easy, and I'd much rather have a contractor who knows how to deal with the inevitable problems and stands behind the finished product. We'd happily hire Ken and Mr. Contractor again.

The office administrator knew I was coming by. The work was to be performed (9/19) and I waited all day for them to show up. No one ever called to explain they were delayed or weren't coming at all until I emailed Cambrie in the evening. No courtesy call. After speaking to Cambrie on Monday (9/21) she made it clear that my repair work was not a priority to her and her company. I still needed the work performed so I asked her to keep in touch with me during the week as to when they are going to perform the work. On Tuesday (9/22) & Thursday (9/24) I received promises by their office that I would receive a phone call back from Cambrie. That never happened. Friday (9/25) I receive a letter indicating, "due to unforeseen circumstances" they are not going to do my job. This company has wasted about 6 weeks of my time. An inconvenience to say the least. If you want poor customer service and no return phone calls this is the company for you.

Instead these guys come out and fix the existing downspout and paint it and get paint on my deck, which was professionally stripped, sanded and restrained a couple months ago. Andrew tells me his guys do not paint as if I am lying. They are the liars. U can see that it was painted. The texture is different from the rest of the downspout and also the part of the downspout below the deck has dirt in the creases and anyone can see it is not new. This company is irresponsible. I had a new roof installed by them which requires regular maintenance to not void the warranty. If not for that I would no longer do business with this company. As I said in my 1st review, ownership has changed and it shows. The quality, integrity and great customer service is gone.
