I received treatment from Kayal Orthopaedic Center, and post-treatment, I was presented with an unexpected bill amounting to $34,000. This charge was neither discussed nor disclosed prior to the surgery, which directly contravenes the ethical requirement to inform patients of their potential financial liability. After the procedure, I learned that these practices seem to have become common following the acquisition of the clinic by its new corporate owner, who appears to engage systematically in maximizing claims against insurance and then pursuing patients for the balance, a practice known as balance billing. This is particularly concerning given that such practices are now prohibited under New Jersey state law. Furthermore, there appears to be a pattern of similar complaints against this provider, as evident from multiple ongoing legal cases in the New Jersey Superior Court, indicating a troubling trend in their approach to billing and patient communication. Stay Away!

Since then, I had been in and out of doctors' offices dealing with significant pain, multiple MRIs, and a frustrating recovery process. Unfortunately, some of the imaging wasn't even performed in the correct areas, and while everyone focused on my rib injuries, the cause of my severe lower back pain was never fully investigated. After my most recent MRI, physical therapy was recommended as an important part of my recovery. Joint & Spine Rehabilitation was one of the providers in my insurance network, and after calling several facilities with little response, I contacted Joint & Spine Rehabilitation. From the moment the front desk answered the phone, I was treated with kindness, compassion, and genuine concern. They asked thoughtful questions, listened to my situation, and scheduled me for an appointment the very next day. When I arrived, I was nervous because of the amount of pain I was experiencing. Dr. Gigante took the time to thoroughly review my rib imaging and asked whether I had ever received a lower lumbar MRI. I had not. He explained that while my ribs had sustained significant trauma, my lower spine may have also been affected by the fall. He ordered the MRI, and I received insurance approval within a week. During that first visit, Dr. Gigante also took X-rays of my pelvis and discovered that it was misaligned and that I had injured my SI joint--something that could explain the persistent lower back pain I had been struggling with for so long. Starting physical therapy was intimidating. When you've been in pain for an extended period, fear of making it worse can be overwhelming. My physical therapist, Chetali, has been absolutely amazing. She has helped me work through that fear, listens carefully to how I'm feeling, adjusts treatment accordingly, and continues to encourage me every step of the way. Dr. Reilly has also been fantastic. His adjustments have been incredibly helpful, and whenever I mention a concern or a new symptom, the entire team takes the time to listen and find ways to help. What stands out most about Joint & Spine Rehabilitation is how much they genuinely care about their patients. After just five weeks of treatment, the staff feels like family. They are professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and easy to talk to. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I have a team that is truly invested in my recovery. I highly recommend Joint & Spine Rehabilitation to anyone dealing with pain, injury recovery, or physical therapy needs. Their dedication to their patients is exceptional.
