Pro tip: do NOT park your car at the neighbouring seemingly empty lot- it belongs to ford, and they are NOT friendly neighbours. Your car will get towed without a warning. This community centre is spacious and clean. Everything is easy to find. The gym is gigantic and stretches far beyond my eyes. The pool is 50m, worked by beautiful and hardworking lifeguards (lol just kidding, shameless plug). Both areas have plenty of seating for viewers. The hallways are large and extensive, so don't be afraid to wander around. There's also a fitness centre overlooking the pool. It's kind of small and lame but I rarely see it packed, so I guess it'd be a good idea. It's not great for lifting, but it has a lot of equipment for such a small gym. The regulars are usually older adults, trying to get some exercise in.

If your kids are the top 5 in the team then you are lucky, the Coach will try to treat you kids nicely and give your kids much more play time than the other kids. If your kids are not so great for example if they are last 3 in the team, it was like a nightmare. The Coach is trying to create a wolf culture in the team. If you are the top player , you can take other players time to play. If you are at the bottom, you are not deserve to play. They are trying to teach a group of 11 year old boy how cruel the world is, weak meat strong eat. There is no fairness, no compassionate, no caring about other kids' feeling. There is only fighting to win the game. The Coach will find any excuses to kick your kids out of the court letting the other kids who play better substitute you. The kids' confidence will be destroyed by this. This team's spirit is encouraging discrimination to the less competent players in the team. I want my boy to be himself, I want him know if he is trying he can improve. Enjoy to play even he lost the game but he tried. I want my boy understand team work, be compassionate and willing to help. So I won't choose a team like this ever again no matter the coaches' training skill good or not.

I've been to the Friday night drop in ($17, from 9pm - 1am) a few times now and actually quite liked it as compared to the other indoor volleyball courts in Toronto. HUGE area with super cool post industrial/factory "decor" from the previous operation. A little challenging to get up there if you don't have a car, walking up a dark street from the bus stop..is not for the faint of heart. Getting home from there at night via TTC is another challenge. Best advice: carpool/ taxi, or go for their Sunday (DAY ITME) drop-ins Liked that it's not too cold inside since it wouldn't be nice to freeze the moment you stopped playing/ waiting for the next game. It's usually not too busy when I was there, so it's awesome not to be sitting around and wait. I find that people that play there are friendlier as well. Good mix of people playing 2's, 4's and 6's. Not too hard to find a partner/team if you go alone. Here's how it works when I was there, Winner stay, loser out. You find a partner/team and go to the court you want to play in, call the next game and play the winner. If there's a lineup, then usually peeps would agree on maximum 3 wins per team consecutively. Sometimes there's a flipping score broad laying around, it will be great if you can ask someone along the side to keep score. If not, just keep score and call out every time one serve. Yes, yes, it's just a game, why take it so seriously? Well, nothing is more annoying for people who are called the next game just to found out that NOBODY were keeping score. There are lots of space and showers in the washroom. Go through a maze and then you will find the ladies washroom. A little sign/direction where the washroom is will be much appreciated for the first timers. Beach Blast also offers leagues, clinics and tournaments of which I have never been, but heard good things about. If it's not for the location, I most likely will sign up for more activities at Beach Blast.

First thing I noticed as soon as I walked in was how hot and humid it was. This places doesn't have very good ventilation at all. There were 16 teams at this tournament so there were a lot of bodies inside which made it worse. It was a hot day temperature wise outside but it was like heaven compared to inside the venue. They need to do something about that. Other than the heat problem, Beach Blast is otherwise not a bad place to play. There are a good number of courts available. They even have some courts dedicated to beach dodge ball. Outside, there are another set of courts available (why weren't we playing there?) as well. There's a little bar at the front that serves cold drinks. I was not able to located a water fountain of any sort so bring your own water unless you're willing to pay for it. Something to note, if you come in the evening, it's very dark when you l;eave as the lighting in the area is not good at all. It's located in an industrial area so plan accordingly, specially if you don't drive. All in all, Beach Blast is pretty much like all the other indoor volleyball courts I've been to. It's not going to wow you at any point but you'll have a great time nonetheless.

Looking at the gyms within a 10 - max 15min - drive, there weren't many options for me. The nearby chain gyms were just way too crowded/younger, bro crowd and the other box gyms were CrossFit places which wasn't what I was looking for. So weighing my options, I decided to sign up at my local community centre. Despite being an older centre, this place basically has everything INCLUDING group classes like yoga, Zumba, and a bunch of other things. The centre itself has a pool, skating rink, courts for pickleball, basketball, and a weight room. Outside, there's a skate park, basketball court, beach volleyball court, & various soccer fields. Of course, it's surrounded by various parks, trails, and there's even a private tennis club around the back. So far, so good, people at the front desk seem very nice. Of course the experience of the classes will vary depending on the instructor. And right now, the fitness classes aren't in a stellar studio due to kids Summer camps taking over the entire place! So hopefully that'll change once the kiddos are back to school. Membership prices are MORE than reasonable and they even include the fitness classes which is an absolute bonus! Weight room is small, but every time that I've walked by, it is almost empty. No one filming themselves or annoyingly flexing in the mirror to check if the few pumps of iron has made their arms grow! It's an older crowd, but at this point, I welcome that as opposed to the former gym bro crowd. There is also a discount for Seniors AND if another family member signs up!

However, with drills not done at game speed, the lack of games and the mistreatment of kids, Ferroni vastly underperforms. There is tremendous turnover of kids in the academy which should tell you something. Ferroni is rude to kids and parents who ask questions, often calling them "cupcakes" instead of legitimately answering their concerns. At the end of 2 years my son was not better than he would have been in regular hockey. For the money Ferroni hockey is simply not worth it.
