I ordered a cake for my daughter's first birthday party. The party was wildflower themed, so I asked for a cake that had a wildflower bouquet. I let the owner know that the primary color in her party was purple but that I'd like to have multiple colors of wildflowers on the cake. I asked for it to say "Happy 1st birthday, Nila." When I went to pick up the cake, the gentleman behind the counter (I was told later that this was the owner's son) went to the back to look for my cake. After a few minutes, he returned to let me know that he had forgotten the cake in his truck and invited me to come to the truck to get the cake. He said that the cake had been out there for 1.5-2 hours (it was 85 degrees) and he apologized for the "sweating." I immediately called the owner when I got home to let her know the situation and that I was extremely unhappy that my cake sat in a very hot car for multiple hours. She did not apologize, did not make it right, and just told me that the taste of the cake will make up for it (spoiler: it did not). On top of that, the cake was NOT a wildflower bouquet. It had the same type of flowers in pink and purple and that was it. I looked at some of PetalCakes pictures from other cakes and was expecting something that would be beautiful and honestly, this was just like a grocery store cake or even worse. There were no different flowers and the "1st" part of the writing looks very squished and like it was squeezed in as an afterthought. It's safe to say that I will never order from PetalCakes again. Save your money and just go to Publix.

I purchased a strawberry shortcake, homemade pound cake with buttercream icing and the banana pudding cake. Just tasted all three and these are not from a box. They each have a unique flavor, texture and look, simply beautiful creations. Every detail of these cakes seems thoughtful and well executed. The banana is iced and a moist batter with light cream and decorated with little Nilla wafers. Confession: I didn't love the flavor. I couldn't taste much banana. The strawberry had the same crumb topping as the strawberry shortcake, ice cream and an entire middle layer of cream. I was there for it. The old fashioned frosted pound cake was nearly perfect, but I could taste the baking soda in the cake. I paid $4.50 per slice. I thought that price was fair, for a tall, generous slice. Also there is a $10 surcharge if you purchase a full cake out of the display. They also had a good looking peach cobbler on offer for $3.50 a serving, and a line out the door! The service was fine.
