Custom salad with quinoa, lentils, avocado, beet hummus, curried cauliflower, sweet potatoes and shredded zucchini
    Jen P.

I had a great first experience at SLA. I was in Amsterdam just for a few hours before a flight to Germany and found this place on Yelp. I used Google maps to navigate my way on foot from the Amsterdam main train station to their location, which was pretty easy and took maybe 15-20 min. Along the way I enjoyed observing life along the canals, and even came across a funky outdoor flea market, which I spent about 20 minutes perusing before walking the last block to SLA. The food here is very fresh and very flavorful. There are lots of salad combos to choose from, and you can also make your own, which I opted to do. I loved how colorful the final salad turned out - almost too pretty to eat! I started with a base of quinoa and lentils, added curried cauliflower, sweet potatoes, sprouts, avocado, beet hummus and shredded zucchini. There was a lemony, garlicky dressing I added too, but it almost didn't need it because the combination of crunchy fresh veggies with seasoned cooked veggies, plus the variety of textures, was overall very satisfying. The interior space is also really nice, with lots of light, and plenty of spots to sit upstairs. The only thing I would have liked better was having a tray to carry my drink, salad bowl and utensils all at once; as it was, because I was traveling with some luggage, I ended up making a few trips up and down the stairs to put things on the table. Having water upstairs would also be great, but I wasn't in a hurry, and going up and down stairs wasn't that much of a bother. I would imagine if you are local, you won't have the same issue. I look forward to visiting again next time I am in town.

Thai sweet potato salad and create your own salad

I'm so happy Amsterdam has healthy options to add to their international food scene. After food hopping to so many tourist joints to eat pancakes, stroopwafels, cheese, I really wanted to eat something good yet healthy, and SLA was my option. My sister got the Thai sweet potato salad (cheapest on the menu). I only tried the sweet potato burger which I thought tasted a little weird cold. I got a create your own salad with curry couscous, cashew dressing, corn, edamame, curry cauliflower, sprouts, and tempeh. I really liked my salad! Ingredients tasted fresh. The only thing I would change is reduce the dressing by half.

I went here for the first time about a month ago. LOCATION: This location is in a less-busier area of the city. 3/5 ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere is nice. It seems small when you walk in, but that's why I'd recommend their upstairs seating area, which is the best part of it. 3/5 SELECTION: It's mostly all salads/bowls, and they have lots of pre-set options, or you can build your own. I like that clearly label which items are vegan. 4/5 WHAT I GOT: I built a salad myself and got greens, black rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, and courgette (zucchini). It was pretty good. I know that probably sounds basic and boring, but I like simple food and I'm glad I could get it at SLA. The ingredients tasted fresh and not like they'd been sitting out for long. And, they seemed of pretty good quality too. 4/5 SERVICE: The service was good. The employee who assembled our bowls was nice and helpful. 4/5

    Mint pea falafel salad

SLA is my favorite thing about Amsterdam. I visit every time I'm in the city. This location has a secret seating area upstairs. The stairs are quite steep which makes carrying food and drink difficult, but it's worth it. I ordered the mint pea falafel salad and it was DELICIOUS! One of my favorites... and I've tried a lot of the menu!

SLA was so refreshing after eating SO MUCH BREAD and sweets all week. The employees are super nice, the décor is modern, and the food is great! I recommend the build your own salad with the balsamic sundried tomato dressing--its amazing. All the ingredients are super fresh and I love that they have unlimited water--not so common around here. Will definitely be back!

The Dutchies love their sandwiches in the afternoon, but I prefer something healthier. SLA is a great solution for a quick and healthy meal, that tastes good. The juices and teas are worth a mention too, they taste great. Love the interior, and not usually the case in Amsterdam... the personal always seems to be in a good mood. Very good concept, will go more into detail when I visited more often.

This was the Greener than Green and absolutely amazing.

This place had fresh ingredients and gave you a good size portion. It was the best salad bowl with the right combination of dressings.

Food was really good but I ordered a hot meal and it was on the cold side. The servers were so sweet too. Great healthy options for vegans, vegetarians, and those who are gluten free. I would definitely eat here again.

SLA is all about healthy and delicious food. They have a salad bar where you can choose a dish from the menu or create a dish of your own. Delicious lemon or cucumber water is served complementary and there's a great selection o teas. My only disappointment was the lack of coffee on the menu, but no big deal. :) And apparently it only is the case on Westerstraat. The portions are huuuuge and they also have soups, desert and organic wines. Everything can be also ordered to go or you can eat your food inside while enjoying beautiful clean and contemporary interior. read more here http://www.nansypop.com/food/sla-delicious-salad-bar-in-amsterdam/

The best place for hearty and yummy salads/ veggie bowls in Amsterdam. I got the falafel salad and it didn't disappoint. I would come here everyday if I lived in Amsterdam.

Outpost from the popular salad restaurant in the Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam. I've been a few times to a different location of SLA, but this one was nice and quiet on a Thursday afternoon. The upstairs seating area makes it feel roomier than it is, and the salads are quick, healthy, and filling! A much better lunch option than a regular old sandwich or tosti!

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!
