I have to lower my review of my once favorite go to eatery in Babcock Ranch but things have changed. I had to wait 35 mins to get two salads after I complained about the wait. No apology. Came in, ordered a pizza, and the staff watched me place the order. Once it was ready they just stood around staring at me for a solid half hour instead of bringing it out. I felt compelled to warn others that this is not the place to go if you expect good service or to be treated with basic kindness and respect. So I finally decided to try this place out for lunch after passing it for a year while working at Babcock. Honestly at first didn't even realize it was a restaurant. Today i didn't want to drive to far and was in the mood for a burger. So this location is a restaurant/ market they carry clothing (Babcock branded) and additional household items. When you enter you have to make your order at the counter they will provide you with a table number and you find your own seat. They offer inside and outside seating. The location can accommodate big and small parties. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries. The cheeseburger was your typical double patty cheeseburger with lettuce, onions and tomatoes. The burger was good but nothing out of this world. I found the meat a little flavorless or lack of flavor, could have used better seasoning. The fries were pretty good thick and well fried seasoned fries. I will have to revisit this location and try another one of the selections and see how it stacks up. read more

Went here for breakfast when we first moved to the ranch. The scrambled eggs were overcooked (rubbery) and I received the pan scrapings of eggs (pet peeve), and the sausage gravy is nothing to write home to tell mom about it. Later my husband was told that Slaters supposedly got a new manager and cook (?) and he asked if I would give it another try. I did. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet - easy stuff. Sadly, again, the omelet was overcooked and the flip side was deep brown and pan scrapings. A lot of people go there for breakfast and seem to appreciate/like the food. Maybe I'll go again, but at lunchtime, and try a salad. But Panera has a couple of really good salads. I'm glad that we will have new restaurants soon and more over time -- competition and choices are very good. read more

To me, being a foodie from the city, Slaters is the best place to eat in all of Babcock right now. The food is honest, wholesome with no frills. Their pizza is better than that other place on 31 hands down. They also serve alcoholic beverages with outdoor seating and sites to see. I have always wanted to eat at Babcock ranch. It is simply beautiful. I was excited to try the rotisserie chicken. Also very reasonable for two sides and quarter chicken it was only 7 dollars!!! Decent breakfast and lunch spot at Founder's Square in the Babcock Ranch Community. They make a decent breakfast - I had the breakfast burrito - with good flavor and quality ingredients. It's not 5 star for a couple of reasons: 1) it's what I consider expensive for non-table service. I mean that you order at the counter and they bring it out, but not a conventional sit down feel. When you check out they ask for a tip for taking an order. I get that in service industry, tipping is becoming increasingly in demand, but I'm not asked for a tip when I check out at a fast food restaurant for the same basic service. They take my order, ask me to pull aside and wait for something I ordered and bring it out to me...right? 2) when I have been in at a busy time the wait can feel exceedingly long. It's not a huge kitchen, so I get there are limits to how much they can crank out, but it can feel exceptionally long, or at least it has for me a few times I've been here. Having said that - I like Slater's quite a bit. That's why when we're in town - I go there at least a couple of times. And the convenience of being so close to where my parents live certainly doesn't hurt. read more

First visit to Slater's. It's such a cute addition to Babcock but I was not impressed with the food. We all got the 1/4 chicken with different sides. We had to send one chicken back because it was old and overcooked and the coleslaw was terrible, looked like it was made with tuna. Yuck. The best part of the meal was the garlic aioli. read more

I live in the neighborhood. Slater's has always been a good, go to place for a quick bite to eat, but dang, they have really stepped it up during the current COVID crisis. Toilet paper - they had it when no one else did. Paper towels - ditto. Good food? Always, just like usual. Service? Friendly. Oh, and did I mention they now have pizza, which beats the pants off any of the chain pizza shops for flavor. Great crust, sauce, etc. Can't go wrong with their pizza. Last words? Took a drive today from Fort Myers to get out of house. Walked Founder's Square then opted for a late lunch/early dinner. Due to corona pandemic, there is a special menu for carry out only. I ordered the BLT with homemade chips for about $10 and it was very good. Several choices of bread and there were other side options in lieu of the chips. Service was a bit slow (maybe 20-25 minutes) but enjoyed sitting out front the market enjoying a soda while we waited. Nice job, Slater's! read more
