I drove 1 1/2 hours to Sleep Dentistry of Spokane hoping to finally receive safe, trauma-informed dental care. I sought this office specifically because I have significant dental trauma from past procedures where I was drilled without adequate numbing and told to "man up" while in pain. I have extensive dental work that needs to be done, which is exactly why I sought sleep dentistry. After the exam, I was told I did not qualify for sleep dentistry, not based on any anesthesia evaluation or airway assessment. The anesthesiologist refused to come see me or consider my case, and instead the office manager was sent in to deliver the decision. The only options offered were standard local numbing or nitrous (laughing gas). As an autistic adult, these options do not work for me. I have severe anxiety related to needles and the sound of the drill, which the office was made aware of. No meaningful alternatives were discussed, and no referral for hospital-based anesthesia was offered. To make matters worse, I was casually told to "go to my primary and get on Ozempic," which was completely inappropriate, unrelated to dental care, and dismissive rather than compassionate. On the financial side, I have had Delta Dental insurance for nearly two years, yet the office's financial representative told me I would need to wait another seven months before receiving any care, which made no sense given the length of time I've already been insured. If you advertise sleep dentistry and trauma-informed care, patients should not: * drive long distances only to be turned away * be denied an anesthesiologist consult * be offered only basic numbing despite documented trauma * be given weight-loss medication suggestions instead of care options * receive contradictory or inaccurate insurance information I came here seeking treatment, safety, and understanding. I left without care, without solutions, and deeply disappointed after investing significant time, travel, and trust. read more

We used to have 4 kids go here. 2 bio kids and 2 foster to adopt kids whom have traumas and need sedation to have procedures done. Bio son eats food prior to appointment and doesn't tell us til we are checking in. Office decides they can't see him and considered it a violation and discharged on the spot. No convo about reschedule etc. Our response calling their policy fn stupid ended up giving them the green light to disharge my other 3 children as well. 1 of which they've failed 2x to fix the pain in his mouth , canceling his appointment that was day after tomorrow. I had a shift at 2 am last night and my 9 am alarm did not go off for the 10:30 appointment when I called at 11:35 when I woke up to have it rescheduled (I know their policy) to see if i can work something out because they have my insurance on file, I was told by MANAGER Valerie. They cannot do that, and I said I'll just get a new referral and they said they would not accept any other referrals from me and would never accept me as a patient again and when I said "that sucks " I was told by Valerie "well maybe you should have woken up for it" in a disgusting snarky tone and then was questioned if I "no called no showed" for different dentist. (I have never missed an appointment because I was always aloud to reschedule). Ive never received the amount of disrespect from a MANAGER in my life. I'm an 18 year old with bad teeth and this totally effects my health and safety. I demand for MANAGER Valerie to be demoted or step down. read more

They added numbness even tho we asked for none now half my mouth and lip and cheek are super numb and it was pointless I also almost choked on the laughing gas and they kept trying to put it back on and i had to take it off of me for a couple for secconds and then let them put t back on Parking space is bad when you schedule so many people and we had to park outside if the parking spaces and others had to do this too read more

Fantastic service. We take our 31 year old son with autism here, everybody is just wonderful and treat him so nicely and with respect and compassion. Worst service ever. They are rude and not helpful. They even tried scamming me and not submitting my dental work through the insurance (delta dental) And told me i was to pay out of pocket. When i called my insurance they said they never got a pre auth from them. Pretty strange if you ask me. And they never follow through on call backs! my kiddo had a root canal done and needed a crown. 3 Months later ... nothing. I finally got a hold of someone today (after calling several times and they said they would call me back )and she said sorry can't help you. So i said fine i will find someone else. She responded," (giggle) good luck", I sure did. my son went in tonight and they did an amazing job! Thank you Dr C's office! read more

I believe the tech that helped me was Macee and she was fantastic. Fast (I came late because of work), compassionate, friendly and was able to explain everything in detail to help ease my anxiety. She made the experience 5/5, the only complaint I have is that they advertise online for having different methods of sedation such as Twilight/IV sedation and apparently all they offer anymore is nitrous oxide and general anesthesia. That made me pretty upset because when I called I specifically said I was interested in Twilight/IV sedation. read more

Hands off the best dentist office I've been to. I have a lot of dental issues along with dental phobia, gag reflex, these people care! I've been a few times and have had surgery there. Waited too long after getting a root canal to get my crown, the tooth broke, they got me in within 4 days, today was supposed to just be looking at what needed to be done, they fit me in this afternoon to fix the tooth and get my temp crown on. Dentists are awesome, assistants are awesome, front desk/financial is awesome. They reassure me that being a giant neurotic baby is ok. Plus I got to watch Netflix while they worked on me, and scented nitros ? Who knew! I love sleep dentistry and will keep coming here until I'm old and need dentures! read more

Showed up for my appointment and the staff on the phone were so rude and unprofessional as I have a fear of the dentist being only 18 years old, I left before she even came out with paperwork, absolutely rediculous. how much incompetence can a person have ? they expected a working mother to sit there for 3 and a half hours and Wait the whole time while having a two year old with us, not to mention they wouldn't stop asking me timeframes of absolutely everything I did, yet they didn't tell me before hand to track any that stuff? like what time did I brush my teeth what time did I eat what time did I drink I DONT KNOW NO ONE TOLD ME TO TRACK IT. and then of course to top it off the "if you need to reschedule we won't see u ever again" yeah when you stupid people told me my procedure was going to take AN HOUR maybe also specify the recovery time and pre process timing. thanks be a better business. read more

I will trust this team with all of my kids' dental needs. My 1 year old had gotten ALL of his teeth by the time he was 4 months old. Well he decided that he would start grinding his teeth to the point they would chip. The chipping lead to cavitation to the point where he needed his top teeth pulled. We recieved a consultation for dental surgery. Both his mother and I were worried because he was only 1 years old and we were both new to this. However, doctor explained the level of preparation and a meeting that him and his team go through before the morning of the surgery. When it was all said and done, a nurse was holding my boy in her arms comforting him as the anesthesia wore off. The level of care the Sleep Dentistry has for their patients is off the charts. read more

My daughter who is a competitive cheerleader needed root canals on both her top, front two teeth. 2 years prior she had fallen face first into Pattison's Roller Rink's wood floor, breaking them almost off. They were repaired, tho we knew it was only temporary. So, when her mouth became infected we knew what needed to take place. My daughter went ahead and researched root canals on YouTube and needless to say was completely convinced she would HAVE to be put under anesthesia. Dr. Vargas was phenomenal in communicating with my daughter and making her comfortable enough to go ahead and do the procedure without the anesthesia...later that same day. She was afraid, but the entire staff here at Sleep Dentistry made that fear melt away. Dr Vargas did much more than just perform the procedure recommended. My daughter no longer has to fear the dentist. Yesterday afternoon this procedure was performed. She mentioned today to me that she was able to drink out of the drinking fountain at school today without her teeth being sensitive to the cold water. Something she has not been able to do since the injury occurred. Thank you Sleep Dentistry Staff and especially Dr. Ulysses J. Vargas for the exceptional care you provided my daughter. I scheduled my daughter (who has ONLY been seen by sleep dentistry since birth) a dentist appointment, one month in advance as its not always easy to get time off work. my appointment was for 10/26/15 @ 9:15 AM. on 10/12/2015 I received a text message confirmation of my appointment. the text read (exactly) A****** has an apt with Sleep dentistry of Spokane on 10/26/15 at 9:15 AM. call if conflicts. 509-536-5900. this text was received at 11:22 AM. there was no indicator that I needed to confirm the appointment again, it was worded "call if conflicts" we live nearly 35 minutes from sleep dentistry and I drive this far because this is where we have always gone. after arriving at 9:05 AM I was told our appointment was cancelled because I didn't respond to their text message. I will not ever waste my time with such an unprofessional business again. an appointment, is an appointment....how many confirmations does one clinic need? is two not enough? my daughter was sent away and I will not ever come back or recommend this company to ANYONE. read more
