This beautifully restored Victorian mansion is filled with character. Every room showcases incredible craftsmanship, from the original woodwork and stained-glass windows to the elegant fireplaces, antique furnishings, and period décor. I found myself slowing down just to admire all of the details--it's a photographer's dream. The gardens are just as charming as the interior, offering a peaceful place to relax before heading out to explore the city. Inside, the common areas feel warm and inviting, making it easy to imagine what life was like here more than a century ago. What I appreciated most was that The Empress isn't simply a place to spend the night--it's an experience. If you enjoy architecture, history, boutique accommodations, or unique bed and breakfasts, you'll find plenty to love here. Whether you're visiting Little Rock for a weekend getaway or passing through on a road trip, I'd absolutely recommend adding The Empress to your itinerary. It's one of those memorable places that stays with you long after you've left.

The rooms are quaint and cute - more retro-antique than shabby chic. The "breakfast" is a DIY. It's not fancy, and it's a little worse for the wear in some areas, but perfect for a restful layover in Little Rock.

When I called the owner Chris, he was very attentive to our situation and even knew a great mechanic in the area he thought could help us with our German SUV (not easy to find!). We stayed multiple days as we had to wait for a water pump, and Chris even offered us his side by side to get around town and the mechanic was as advertised. Chris even picked us up from the shop after we dropped the car and found a friend to do the same upon pickup of the car. We were thankful for our extra nights in Mt View where we sat on the old timey porch with other guests and Chris gave us a history lesson on Folk Music and even played the Dulcimer for us. All in all, this was the best thing that could have happened to us after finding ourselves stranded at a Wal-Mart just as we were about to drive 1,000 miles home. And of course the breakfast was amazing, and the room/decor just as perfect. Coming from the grim hustle of the east coast, we were left with the overwhelming feeling that there still are good people in the world, and we're appreciative to have made a new friend.

Joe cooked us a 5-course meal for Saturday night, wow, again high light of our trip. I haven't seen that much fine dinnerware and crystal in I don't know how long. It was so much fun. When we were there, the house was so beautifully decorated for Christmas, inside and out. We stayed in the East Chamber, a beautiful suite on the 2nd floor. All the rooms have large jacuzzi tubs, but our suite had it situated in front of an electric fireplace. We could not have been happier with our beautiful and comfortable room. Joe is a self trained chef, and his palette and skills are beyond compare. When we arrived, there was a freshly made chocolate cake with raspberry filling, house made cookies all the time, and other snacks and drinks available all the time. His breakfast is sumptuous and perfectly delicious, with offerings that change every day. He is also very mindful of dietary restrictions and does everything to please his guests. Absolutely everything is made from scratch, from Chorizo to teriyaki sauce, Joe does it all. If you book in advance, he will even do a special dinner on Saturday night. Trust me when I tell you this may be the highlight of your visit
