A comfortably dressed king bed, a conveniently large walk-in shower, (albeit a much too low toilet and vanity for taller people) and a room designed with the bed/sleeping area in the center of the room, instead of near the window, provided less noise and light coming in from the adjacent parking lot. The room was compact in size, but included nice amenities. Breakfast was generous, tasty, warm, and much appreciated. It was easy to find many lunch and dinner options nearby. I stayed at the Best Western Athens Inn from April 14 to April 18, 2026, in room 139. While packing to leave on our final morning, I discovered that several valuable items were missing from our room. A member of the housekeeping staff had stolen my high capacity battery / phone charger, my son's phone battery charger, and my noise-canceling headphones. When I immediately informed the hotel manager, Karen Smith, she told me not to worry and promised I would be fully reimbursed. She explained that the housekeeper had only been on the job for two weeks and had abruptly quit mid-day while finishing our room. The manager assured me she was filing a police report and that they would contact me. That contact never happened. When I followed up with the Best Western corporate offices, they completely deflected responsibility. I was told: "Any items left in the hotel rooms are the responsibility of the guest and Best Western is not liable if anything gets stolen." The property will not protect your belongings, and management's promises of reimbursement mean nothing. If you stay at this Best Western, you are doing so at your own risk.

Pros: booking was easy with the Hilton App. Luckily we got a digital key. Parking is convenient and free. Staff very welcoming and nice. The lobby was nicely kept including the gym and business center. Cons: The free premade breakfast seems to be lack quality. The room 216 needs to have some updates to it. Kitchen sink drain needs cleaning and disposal replaced. I don't think the queen size beds are true in size. They seem smaller. I don't carry a tape measure with me. Company computer systems went down so no hard copy keys to rooms. Other guests had to be let in by staff.

After a while our call to Wyndham dropped and we asked the clerk if she had gotten a call. She said no, someone had called for a wake up call. We chose travel and continue driving. This motel obviously didn't want business. The clerk was unhelpful and unconcerned. When we checked email later, we found that we had received a notice of cancellation one minute after walking into the motel.

I wasn't expecting 5 star accommodations, but I don't think it's too much to ask for a clean room. Warning to anyone staying here, find some place else. Pay a little extra. Just don't stay here.
