Was just passing through and this place had a decent rate and was right off I-85 in NC. Convenient location, attractive exterior. Check-in was easy (we already had a reservation. Rooms are interior, which is nice when you are in an unfamiliar area. They have an indoor pool. There was a musty smell in the hallway and the room, possibly due to the pool plus the humidity we struggle through in the South. The room was clean and well-equipped. The bed was comfortable. They have a free breakfast, including sausage/biscuits, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, muffins, yogurts, etc. Oh, and, most importantly, coffee. I can definitely recommend this property for a stay. read more

We had to make a room switch on our stay. Our first room had damaged and worn out furniture. Massive fingerprints were on the refrigerator. We asked for another room and front desk gladly made new arrangements but had us making multiple trips down the elevator to get the room cards straightened out as our luggage was still in the original room. She was too busy being keen with an older gentleman (long-stay patron) to realize. Second room had a wad of hair between the sheets. As the night progressed, I smelt human urine next to the wall next to my bed. Someone was sleeping in their vehicle's backseat than the hotel itself. Told the front desk upon arrival and she didn't seem too concerned as it seemed to be a well lit area. A different Front desk attendant in the morning was apologetic and I left some remarks with her about our room experience. This made me feel Sleep Inn is a super cheap hotel regardless of my special offer through a 3rd party. Maybe it the location because the University City Sleep Inn on Tryon met my standards the following night. 2 stars for location and free breakfast. read more

My father stayed at this location 4/3-4/5. He was treated poorly by staff regarding his service dog that is ADA certified and medically necessary due to a traumatic brain injury he endured in the line of duty. When he showed the staff at the front desk documentation that his service dog was ADA certified, he was asked "What his disability was" and a staff member looked at his documentation and stated "Anyone can buy a card like this" and when he told her there was a number on the back of the card she could call to ensure his documentation was valid she stated "I am not calling that number". I am horrified of how he was treated by staff and I have concerns on how the staff will treat other guests with disabilities in the future. I urge you to avoid this hotel. read more

This was the stay from hell! Although I must first give accolades to the wonderful staff, they are employees and can only do so much. The staff was kind, accommodating, and professional, but the problem with this hotel falls on the ownership. My room and bedding were clean but I could never feel clean or comfortable in the hotel because the carpet was not just "dirty", it was FILTHY! It appeared that someone had spit up on the elevator. I mentioned it to the front desk and nothing was done, (perhaps because they are significantly understaffed). The elevator floor also appeared to have not been mopped in a very long time, as filthy grime smudges were on the elevator floor. My daughter and newborn grandson also had a room. I looked out of her room window and one side was completely covered with dirt and debris. The doors and windows near the swimming pool area were severely smudged and looked nasty. This, to me, was also unacceptable, "particularly" in the wake and aftermath of the pandemic. I decided to make the best of the situation, but the straw that broke the camel's back was when I had to go out one night to pick up my daughter and the elevator was out of order. I use a walker because of a debilitating condition. It took two people to assist me down the stairs. When I returned, I could not go to my room because of my inability to negotiate the stairs. Alex (the late night, front desk employee) offered me a room on the main floor where I slept for the night. The following morning, the elevator was still inoperable. I was inappropriately dressed for my event because I had to wear the clothing from the previous night. Finally, unable to take any more, I went to Holiday Inn Express. I left two days before my stay was up. I asked for a refund. The ownership (via Tonya at the front desk) vehemently refused my request. They also added an additional $66 of "incidental charges" to my bill (none of which I had incurred, no doubt a retaliatory act because of my dissatisfaction). I am seeking legal assistance at the current time, as the ownership needs to be held accountable for "their" lack of hospitality and due care for the health and safety of their patrons. read more

Don't even waste your time with staying at this hotel. The housekeepers don't care enough to actually do their job and clean the rooms. We found an empty condom wrapper and told the front desk about it only to not have anything done about it. The only thing they can do at the front desk is check people in or out. Any problems they just tell you they can't do anything. I also heard someone else say that they had left something in their room and they told her that they couldn't do anything either. I have also tried to email the regional manager and she has ghosted me right after the first email and she said she would take something off our bill but like I said she ghosted me and nothing has been credited back to us. I have NEVER been to a hotel where they treated customers like this and I will never go there again. I booked a room at this facility online on 5/19/2023 for one night with check in on 6/9/2023 and check out on 6/10/2023. Check in was smooth and fine. At 1:45am someone was banging extremely loudly on the door screaming, "who's in this room. This room should be empty." We thought the facility was on fire. My wife and I were startled beyond belief. The person at the door was screaming, "what's you name and how did you get in the room?" I asked back, "what is your name." She said Destiny from the front desk." All the while she was insisting I open the door. I had the safety latch on. She said someone just checked in and was assigned to this room. I said I was assigned this room when we checked in about 3:30pm. She left. Someone knocked on the door about 7:30am wanting me to spell my name for her. I asked her, as I did Destiny, did anyone ever called the associate who checked us in? No response. I told her that I wanted to speak with the onsite manager when I came down to check out. At checkout I asked for the manager. I was told the manager was traveling. I got her name as Regina Brown. The person she reports to as Don Patel. This facility is owned and operated by New Castle Lodging, LLC under license from Choice Hotels International. At check out on the morning of 6/10/2020 I asked the associate - whose name I didn't get because I was so upset - "are you telling me there isn't a manager I can speak to, not even on the phone, after this experience?" I was told no. In all my years of traveling and staying in hotels I have never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully. This is not a facility I plan to ever stay at or recommend. My wife and I will be in that area at least once a month. I plan to either stay at the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express going forward. read more

We booked this hotel for the Hurricane Irma evacuation. When the storm turned away from us, I called to cancel the reservation. When I made the reservation, I printed the confirmation which stated that we had until Saturday at 4:00PM to cancel. I called the hotel at 10:50AM on Saturday and was told we were past the cancellation deadline. When I explained to the desk clerk (Tonya) that the confirmation gave us until 4:00PM to cancel (I have a print out of this), she just kept repeating that I was past the 24 hour deadline and that she would have to talk to her manager, and that I should call HER back. This hotel billed itself as offering free cancellation. Considering we did cancel within the given window, I find this whole encounter very unprofessional. Needless to say, we will find other accommodations the next time we are in Concord. read more

A bug was found on pillow (louse). Front desk was alerted and told me that "pest control" was just there on Friday. However, the bug was still on the pillow. Front desk worker asked if it was OK for someone to check out the room. Upon my return from the store (had to run to Walmart to purchase lice comb and lice products to check myself and best friend and her three-old daughter's hair). The front desk worker stated they went into the room and didn't find anything, as they shook the pillows and did not find any "bug". The front desk worker stated that she had spoken with the Regional manager and the only thing they could offer was 1000 points in return for the "inconvenience". I contacted the corporate office of Choice Hotels and filed a complaint against the hotel, as this service is unacceptable. read more

I stayed at this hotel for over a month with my niece and nephew while my brother was hospitalized nearby. The circumstances of our stay were horrible, but the stay was WONDERFUL. I am amazed by the level of caring and service there was here. Tanya and Monica in particular, desk hostesses, were caring and accommodating. Every time we needed anything, they helped us out. The room was comfortable and VERY VERY clean. The housekeeping service was excellent and made our little home-away-from-home a pleasure and relief to come back to each night. It was a very safe and secure place. I don't think we could have gotten through this without the people at this hotel. I don't think any other hotel would have been so perfect for our needs. The included breakfast was good - hard boiled eggs, sausage McBiscuits, yogurt, fresh waffles, cereals, pastries, toast, juices, milk, and plenty of coffee all day long. The breakfast area was clean and well stocked, with local news on the TV and ample seating. When I return to visit my brother, this will certainly be where I stay. I am a frequent traveler, and have rarely encountered such amazing hosts. I am saddened to read any negative reviews from people who only stayed here one night. We stayed here for 7 nights for work. Staff was friendly but not responsive to problems, requests... We had a problem with our tv. First they told us they didn't know how to fix it, but when we returned to our room we found it had not even been looked at! Then they sent someone up while we were out for dinner....made the problem worse... We left our room at 6:30 am....returned at 2:45 pm and they were just beginning to clean......although the room was comfortable, for the price, we will not return... Too many other choices! Also, it is a pet friendly hotel, we had a dog with constant barking at 6:30 am...when reported to the front desk, she told us the owner just left for the day!!!! We also had someone attempting to get into our room at 4 am! We were told "sorry, she was intoxicated and couldn't find her room". Don't stay here!!!! read more

Worst hotel ever. DO NOT GO HERE. My fiancé, his family, and I had to stay at this hotel for an extended time period due to us not having a home. The room has leaky A.C.s, which stopped working since it kept freezing over and leaking all over the floor, creating mold under the carpet and getting all of our blankets wet. We told management- told us we could switch rooms, but then said they were fully booked. They said they'd call someone to come fix it, but never did and/or nobody came to fix it. We put a small ac unit in the window since I'm not letting 2 dogs die of heat stroke, but we were told we needed to take it out. We were almost kicked out 2 weeks in of our stay due to "dirty towels," but then we were told we could stay when we told them we would wash our own towels. Housekeeping stopped coming by after week 4 and we went to talk about it to the manager. Rudest manager ever. Literally gave us attitude and talked down on us like we were idiots. Told us that we needed to stick our trash in the hall. Some of the trash was kicked over (my issue with leaving it there in the first place), so we had to walk outside to throw it out ourselves (which was not a problem). Management fired so many nice employees during our stay, saying that they didn't follow the rules, when they indeed did. I heard from my mother in law that a person had overdosed and the employee working there had called the manager several times in front of a police officer and her(m.i.l.). Manager didn't pick up. That employee was then fired the next day for not following protocol. During our stay, many employees continued to come to us stating that we had not paid for our pet fee when we indeed have paid. Our stay before the pet fees was about $700-800 weekly. With the pet fee it was $210 weekly for 2 dogs, meaning we were paying $800-950 weekly. We were double charged several times during our stay. When the pool was cleaned, you could smell all of the chemical breaking down from the other end of the hall. I got a UTI from the pool. They continuously locked out our cards several times a day, meaning we would have to go to the front desk to fix them. We cleaned the room for the last two days we stayed since we couldn't pay the hotel anymore, and after we left, they gave us a DNR. They charged every card we had used $1000 after we left. read more

I am not one to leave bad reviews because I work in customer service and know how impacting bad reviews can be. I've recently stayed in this property and was very disappointed. The room I was in air did not work since check in so they brought me two fans that were useless. But they didn't have any rooms to move me to there was no other options. The front desk clerk at that time said she would talk to the manager about taking care of that night for me. Mind you it's me and my two young daughters staying in this now hot room. Saturday and they let me know at 2:13pm that they have another room available to move me us to. It didn't have the towels and wash rags but was told to give them sometime to bring them back around. So when I made it back to my room that night and still had not received them and it's now 8:20pm. So my girls wanted to go swimming which we did. While I was down there I reminded them that I still had no towels and I was informed that they were all out but they have an early check out which she could wash and bring me the towels. There was also no towels to dry off from the pool in that area. So at this point I'm having to dry my girls and self off with clothes which is not acceptable. As I was leaving to head to Walmart to get towels and wash rags the lady at the front counter told me she had a reservation that cancelled in which she can get there towels and give them to me. But why did it come to this? Moving forward to today as I get my receipt which nothing was taken care of like I was told. I go to the front counter and was told because I went through I third party when booking the hotel that it was nothing that they could do. Mind you I booked through the choice hotel website which is the hotel website. Was told if you do not call and schedule through them over the phone at the exact location then there is nothing they they can do to adjust for the experience. This is unacceptable and would not recommend this establishment. I know I will never stay at any choice hotel due to this experience. read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A GROUP/ SOFTBALL TEAM......We just left from this hotel after two nights of bad service and unreasonable accommodations. We stayed for a softball tournament in Charlotte. The big issue that we had is that this company made an unauthorized charge on my card after I checked out because of the 3 softball teams that were there, a group of parents left trash and bottles on the back patio. Our team had clean up our area before we left, as some drunk parents continued to party. There were no damages to any part of the hotel, but they decided to charge my credit card for an extra cleaning fee. We we asked for a number to the district manager that supposedly said to charge us, the ignorant front desk clerk, Monica, would not give us the information. She then called the police on us for trespassing. After the police arrived, Monica then made it possible for us to be refunded. We let it slide that multiple people on our team had to change rooms because of broken air conditioners on day one, and I let it slide that my husband is in a wheelchair and our room was not accessible as we request and on the 3rd floor....but they wanted to try to make money off of us for trash that we bagged up?? I will never stay here again, and I advice anyone to pay the extra $20-$40 to stay anywhere else in the same area! read more

Stayed four nights here. Price was fair however, no hot water in shower the whole stay. Called desk each day and told them no hot water. Was told it would be taken care of. Never was. So I don't know where to start, so I'll start from the beginning. Tonya, the front desk clerk (or whatever she would like to call herself) is having a personal phone call while we stand there and wait for her to end her call so we can check in. After she finally gets off the phone, she is handed my father's ID and she is so spaced out she continues to ask for an ID and credit card. We then get to our rooms where the chair is broken and has sharp edges where the back bar used to be, the shower has no bumper on the bottom of the door so the water pours out and leaves the floor soaking wet, not to mention the door jam is completed water logged and breaking off in chunks. We go down for coffee in the morning at 845 (breakfast is supposed to be from 630-930) and there is no coffee available. I went to ask (you guessed it, Tonya) for coffee, but again she is having a personal conversation with a friend or something and when we ask about coffee we are brushed off. So no coffee for us. The night we stayed people were early smoking weed and the entire hallway stunk! Overall it wasn't horrible but by no means was it great or even enjoyable. Y'all may want to think about hiring someone that actually cares about their job and providing customer service! read more

My husband and I have stayed here at least three times this year. And the first time everything was fine. But the second time we weren't checked in until way after three because the rooms were not clean. This past Sunday we called at 2:30pm and asked if we could go ahead and check in and then we'd be back after we got something to eat. The front desk lady said it would only be ten minutes because they were putting towels in the rooms. So we went to eat and came back at 3:40ish pm and our room was not cleaned yet. She told me it would not be much longer and then proceeded to check others in before us. The price is not bad but will no longer be coming here because I'm trying to get in the room and put my stuff down and get settled but having to wait and still pay the same price is ridiculous. Check out shouldn't be so late if the employees need more time to clean the rooms. Or they should get more maids. read more
