Flow Dental Care - My natural smile - fyi. Did I need a $650 dental bill when I asked for a cleaning? You judge.

The quality of care we have received from Flow Dental has been nothing short of exceptional. Dr…read moreSusy only recommends what she feels is necessary. She's extremely knowledgeable, stays up to date with her recommendations and is honest. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my family's oral and airway health!

As someone who is born and raised in Oakville, I can say that nowadays a good, honest, transparent…read moredentist is difficult to find in this town. Understanding the inconsistency of the dental industry is crucial, and it's a perspective that I believe needs to be shared. I acknowledge the knowledge of this dental team and the cleanliness of the office with its modern equipment. However, it's important to also consider the patient's perspective in order to bring about the necessary changes. My concern is the "cost to do business, authenticity and transparency." Here, you cannot get your teeth cleaned without a full consult from the dentist first, multiple costly photos (from all angles!) and xrays, and this consult isn't just a "let's check to see the general health of your teeth," which is what I would expect and nothing more unless I ASKED for it. I do not care if I have a narrow jaw at 54 years of age...I am not a child that needs, wants or asked for reparative measures. I take extreme care of my teeth, and it shows (photo attached). I do not need SPECULATORY advice on why my 2nd last two molars failed me - I explained that I know exactly why...one reason was I was severely lacking nutrients after the birth of my child and simultaneously had 3 front teeth crumble...yet this was ignored in order to have me explore myofascial correction options because it was maybe due to my narrow jaw. The other molar issue I had was because another dentist removed all the enamel from my molar and crowned it unnecessarily (made a great amount of $$$ off this!); pain and sensitivity got so intense I developed a condition called condensing osteitis and told NEXT I needed a root canal...I went to my dental surgeon and had the entire tooth extracted. Trust was lost. The dental industry needs correction and transparency--it's a big problem. No one should leave a dentist's office paying $654 out of pocket when their intent was to get their teeth cleaned, and they get them cleaned regularly every 8 months, yet be told there were issues and a multitude of costly photos and x-rays taken without so much as a discussion on the cost of these. I had just undergone dental surgery 10 days ago and explained the sensitivity of my mouth (an old root canal extraction done by my excellent dental surgeon, not this dentist). This fact was ignored, and I sat in a dental chair for 3 1/4 hours to get a talking to about my narrow jaw and cleaning that was so severe that I felt empathy was not a part of this dental practice. I am still sore all over my body from the tension and pain I experienced from the cleaning. So, to those reading this, I wrote this so you know exactly what you're getting into beforehand and to help with transparency & consistency within an industry that needs more of it. The dental industry needs a huge revamp.

Nothing but a money grab. When I first got my machine the staff was somewhat friendly but not…read moreoverly so. For the first 2-3 months of having the machine they include a modem which sends your sleep data to be analyzed. Following that they want you to pay around $200 (I think per year) for this service to continue. When I declined, the technician couldn't remove the device fast enough from my machine! Following this every time you step in the door they want money for something. A year ago March when the Covid 19 pandemic was just starting, I went in to buy filters. There was a different person on the front desk. She came out from the back to greet me. She immediately complained that she was missing a "very important meeting" regarding what the companies plans are for dealing with Covid. I suggested they should have locked the door if this meeting was so important! Later in 2020, I purchased a replacement mask for $275, and although it was the exact same model # there was something about this new mask, that was different than my original. It leaked unless I synched it so that it was uncomfortable. It also was causing acne beside my nose. Due to this I only wore it about 8 times. This year I finally decided to go in to ask about possible options to alleviate this. The same girl was on the front desk. This time she asked if I had an appointment. I said no, and asked "Do I need one"?. She said that yes I do. I said that I would go to a different establishment. All of a sudden I didn't need an appointment! When I explained the mask situation to her, she asked when I bought it. I said about a year prior. She said "Oh, well then you need a new mask". I asked if she had listened to what I said. She said yes she had. I then asked what part of wearing my new mask 8 times she didn't understand? She said that it was a year old and I needed a new one. At this point I expressed my opinions in words that I can't use here and walked out. I won't be going back. Maybe this is how all CPAP sales places are, I don't know, but I do know I won't be going back to this place! I just priced masks on Amazon Canada and the Philips masks identical to mine, are around $100!
