Let's file this writeup in the category of "Things I never Thought I Would Review." I mean if…read moreanything, I'd probably think I'd be penning some negative words for a furniture store, especially after all the odd, awkward, and uncomfortable experiences my fiancée and I had prior. But no, my friends. Ashley Furniture Home Store of Lake Grove is the opposite of all those unfortunate things you often run into. They shine through as a true winner when looking to furnish the interior of your home (don't let the low Yelp score fool you!) Why? Well let's start with the variety of items available. Ashley balances their styles between modern/contemporary and a more rustic/farmhouse vibe to give you a nice range of furniture to choose from. I'll add in that the prices of their stuff is totally reasonable and probably falls in the middle tier of affordability for furniture (maybe even a little cheaper). Throw in quality that (to this point after a few months of owning our items) seems great and you've got a recipe for success. Though when you really stop and think about your experiences with furniture stores, one of the largest parts to it all is your interactions with the employees. My fiancée and I have quickly skimmed a store and bolted after being hounded, heckled, and followed by staff (even at other Ashley's!). But at Lake Grove, the people working here are exceptional. It's not just one of them. They're all a class act. Let's start with Marcel. He spent a good two hours with us going through bedroom sets, mattresses, payment plans, and even some living room furniture inquiries. The whole time it almost felt like I was talking to a friend who just happened to work at Ashley. Marcel is kind, informative, and honest with his sales tactics which makes you want to return. We did just that a second time a month later. Marcel happened to see us, remembered our names, and even though he was helping other customers, he said if we needed anything to let him know. Wow. You'd say it almost doesn't get better than that, but when we returned to Ashley a third time to finally purchase some living room furniture, we were helped by Patrick (Marcel's partner) and Jeff. Both gave us the same thoughtful attention that we encountered with Marcel. They spent plenty of time with us checking out different sofas and chairs and discussing options. Never did we feel pressured to buy anything. Patrick even took a pillow around from the living room set we wanted to help in matching colors that worked for what we were looking for with an accent chair. It was just another fabulous experience. Overall, Ashley Furniture Home Store of Lake Grove is so much more than the 2 1/2 stars on Yelp that it unfortunately has. It deserves the five star treatment because that's how you'll feel after interacting with this staff and finding some furniture that you'll really love (which we do!). Oh and one final tip: If/when they offer you water, coffee, or a chai latte, take the chai latte! It's delicious.

I made the mistake of trying to do business with this so called luxury brand. We all know it costs them maybe $100 to construct their product. Yet I paid $3700 for a sleigh bedf frame, a kids sized dresser and 2 night stands, also paid $219 for install and take away of the existing 4 pieces. Before I signed on the dotted line, they tell you nothing about particulars of install day. I am a 5'7" person with a clinically documented back issue. I live with my 5'0" wife and we have no immediate local family. AFTER the sale they send you an email to notify of install. It is at that time (not on the Sales floor) that they tell you they will not disassemble anything they need to pull out before bringing in the product you buy from them. I don't have to tell you that it takes probably few hundred dollars to manufacture the $3700 of 4 pieces I buy from them. All I had was a king size platform bed that needed to be separated with a few screws so they can remove it. Ashley discloses they don't promise the people that show up will do it . so they expect the consumer to do it. Again this is told AFTER you make the purchase. What if we were two 80 year old people with no outside help? The installers showed up early and I wasn't home yet, the truck driver and his helper barely spoke English and hung up on me because they were upset I wasn't there , even though the window they gave me wasn't when they showed up. When I walked them into the room they refused to undo a few screws. I had a drill gun and extra cash for gratuity in my hand, yet they still refused. When I asked them why they said because they were afraid of causing damage taking it out. So I asked, well what about fear of damage bringing in their product!? In broken English he said he fears the same could happen. WHAT!? I kicked them out of my house. Ashley does not provide phone #s for their stores. So you call a customer services in NJ that tries to reach their store. They couldn't help nor void the order, and told me to go to the store. So I cancelled meetings I had with my job and went to the store. Manager on site did not have the authority to cancel the order and refund my deposit and cancel the line of credit they set up for me with Synchrony bank. I asked if they would call me to confirm it was handled. She said yes. No call ever received. At 6pm I called cust services again, they tried to call the store that was still open and there was no answer, they told me to try tomorrow and hung up on me. The next day, same thing. Nobody should do business with this company. Shop elsewhere! and if you want to use their no interest options, beware. they charge alot more per piece the longer term you choose. what a racket

But isn't that the fun part? HomeSense has become the stop we make before going to the movies. It's where my friend and I can catch up while we shop for pointless things that we don't need for our home, but we help each other rationalize it anyway before we have to sit in silence and pay attention. This is what a mom's night out is and we love it. This visit did not disappoint, as my friend picked up outdoor pillows for her house and I got us movie snacks. You could get lost in the store. I almost walked away with a $30 Kate Spade toaster, but knew it probably would've ended in divorce because who has a space for that. They are a set of three of black waxed LED pillar candles, three different heights, with detailed silver wax spiders on them, and the abdomen of the spiders have a red plastic diamond crystal on them. Very beautiful, but not worth that price, considering they don't come with a remote. Also, I purchased one of those cup holder tissue tubes-$5 for the tube with 50 or so (single ply) tissues!
