Absolute best customer service in town! My husband and I are so pleased that we bought our first king sized mattress here. *update: I previously reviewed the incorrect location* After sleeping on my mattress for WAY too long, I was overdue for an update. I dreaded the entire process. What's a reasonable price? How do I know it'll solve my back issues? And I really didn't look forward to being hustled and hassled by big box furniture salesmen. A friend recommended Sleep Bedder! Don't be discouraged by the hipster vibe or free bone broth class flyers near the front door. It's a small shop, but they have a variety of mattresses in store for you to "test out". I always hate when they insist you roll around on weird public beds, but Sonia assisted me and wasn't pushy. She wanted to find the best bed for me, she asked me several questions to help narrow my search. I chose one, paid via iPad and was out the door in under 45 minutes. They delivered my new mattress and hauled away the old one, less then one week later my back pain went away. Affordable and professional, I can't recommend Sleep Bedder enough! P.S. This place is not only a shop but it's a gentle community gathering place. They hold events and workshops, sell magical things and mattresses! Sonia the owner, is a magical being who has this gift of making you feel like you're the only person in a room full of people. Her hospitality, attentiveness, and care is like no other. Offering blankets when it's cold and tea when you are thirsty. She's super knowledgable about the items she carries and is able to talk about them in a way that isn't pushy or annoying or seems like she's selling them to you. Sonia gave me a warm welcome with this amazing homemade healthy beverage and invited me to take a nap on one of their newest organic beds by Sage, so dreamy! She made me feel like a guest in her home. This is the most lovely, open, airy, inviting boutique bed and organic healthy goody shop in town. What a cool store! Thanks for hosting a private event for Sofar Sounds! If you haven't heard of Sofar Sounds, they're a group that brings musicians to people's and small businesses. Look up Sofar Sounds San Diego to see how you can contribute or attend. It was really cool that they had a bar and camp kitchen as well. The camp kitchen was selling beef bone broth, squash soup and congee. They also have bone broth workshops, they didn't have the workshop tonight. Oh and I almost forgot for the feee food, they had cholla bread and brownies. The bands that played were Luneaux, Ki, and Jack McMullen. The beds here are pretty affordable considering they're non toxic. Oh and I forget they have Yoga classes, not that I'm crazy about Yoga. read more

It's hard to put Sleep Bedder into words. Walking into the shop feels like walking into an art gallery that happens to sell beds. Or like walking into someone's beautifully warm and welcoming home where mattresses have taken the place of normal living room furniture. I met the owner, Sonia, on my first visit and I have to say she's one of the most positive and radiant individuals you'll meet. It's clear that she puts her heart and soul into the business and always puts the customer first. Thus far I've visited Sleep Bedder to admire art, to socialize, and to buy a new box spring. I haven't made it to the community yoga yet, but I've heard it's lovely. The thing that shocks me most about Sleep Bedder is actually how reasonable the prices are. When words like 'artisan' and 'ecofriendly' are thrown around, my brain immediately starts to think 'expensive'. Nice locally manufactured mattresses were WAY cheaper than I expected... way cheaper than you see advertised at other major mattress stores. And whoa, so comfortable. Mix in one-of-a-kind handmade bed frames and tables comprised of reclaimed wood and beautiful succulents growing everywhere and Sleep Bedder feels a little bit magical and surreal. Wow, this place is such a gem. I expected to find a new mattress but found so much more. The owner Sonia walked me through her wonderfully curated shop and explained in detail the different types of mattresses available. I felt very valued as a customer and was impressed with the guarantee offered on the beds. So much to see at the North Park location of Sleep Bedder - beautiful art, hand built furniture and bed frames of reclaimed wood by a local carpenter, Kokedama string gardens and a really cool demo kitchen (that i really want in my own home). I was blown away by the level of passion and creativity Sonia put into her space and at the way she interacted with each customer with such integrity and care. Although she was busy, she took the time to help each person in a very professional and informative way. My partner and I came in to Sleep Bedder just to browse the mattresses after work one day and we ended up buying a bed on the spot! There is no pressure at Sleep Bedder and they sell amazing sleep systems! They have products that you will not find around town and I asked one of the owners why their shop has such a great energy and I was given an education on feng shui, natural rocks and crystals, natural and customizable mattresses, and karma. My boyfriend came home one day really excited about the new memory foam mattress he bought. It was comfortable enough at first but after a couple months, it felt like we were sleeping on our metal bed frame. He takes it back into Sleep Bedder to have them take a look at it. Turns out the mattress had failed. What wasn't really known at the time was the mattress was really more intended for children - not two grown adults. Sonia offered us store credit and we came back in to try and find something that fit what we were looking for in terms of comfort and budget. We ended up walking out with a new mattress that fit our budget all thanks to Sonia's help and exceptional willingness to work with us to meet our needs. By far, the best shopping experience I've EVER had! Sonia, the owner, is such a positive, vibrant, sweet, welcoming woman. From the moment my husband, 1 month old, and I walked into the store, it was all smiles and positive energy. She was in the middle of having lunch at their super cute corner kitchen in the store and immediately welcomed us into her home, offering a bit of whatever delicious smelling food they were eating, and apologized for taking a couple minutes while she cleaned up to come help us out. Sonia first started off by getting to know our particular tastes and what exactly we were looking for. Then proceeded to show us and encourage us to try out each one of the beds that fit our particular needs. She was super attentive but gave us space to try out different positions and get a feel for what we liked. She even suggested we cuddle on the one we most liked, just to make sure it was a good fit . We originally walked in just browsing and ended up loving everything about the place and experience that we walked out with a full bedroom set and flyer of ALL their events. From the second I walked into the art filled store, I knew this was a place i wanted to return to again and again. And with all their community events, I can! I can't wait to come back! Side note, Sonia is very attentive to details and her surroundings. As we were at the counter paying, someone outside was smoking and although in the middle of conversation with my husband she stopped and asked one of workers to light an incense to clear out the cigarette smoke for the baby! Best big purchase experience! Sonia is amazing and kind, and very knowledgable. We got a mattress that we LOVE, and my husband is super picky. He wasn't completely sold on getting an organic mattress at first, but every morning for the first week he mentioned how much he loves it - and still does. We got the Smarthouse Plush Mattress with a wool mattress topper and Kapok pillows. Love it all! And the store is more than mattresses and bedding. There is art, workshops, and community gatherings. Seriously, best mattress buying experience, and beyond. The care and quality that is applied to, not only the mattresses sold, but to every item that is for sale here, is beyond impressive! This was a very straight forward and knowledgable experience for me. No cheesy sales pitch, no trying to sell me the most expensive mattress with trying to add pillows, sheets.. Etc. I told Sonya what I like, she showed me my options without a blink of an eye, I picked one, paid (some are pricey, but most are affordable) and done! No pressure, I was well informed on the material (all sustainable without weird and toxic material) and warranty (fantastic) The delivery was on time and fast, and I couldn't be more happy with my new mattress! Went here about a year ago, completely forgot to write a yelp review. The owner was so cute and friendly. The staff was so attentive. The energy was so light and airy. We wanted to purchase a bed for my sister. She fell inlove with a cute set that was a little over her budget. The owner walked in at the exact time we needed her. Sleep Bedder is the best place in San Diego to buy a bed, hands down. I've become so accustomed to impersonal service at big box stores and chains, that walking into Sleep Bedder was a breath of fresh air (literally, I took a deep breath upon entering). Sonia and crew provided excellent customer service, even offering me a fresh cup of tea as I tried out beds. There was not one hint of pushy salesmanship here, and I was even encouraged to sleep on it and come back. The delivered and set up quickly and professionally as well. I have finally, in my mid-30s, seen the light on how important it is to get a good night's sleep, as we spend a third of our lives doing so. I have had this bed about a month now and never slept so well in my life. I also had the privilege to talk for a bit to Stephen, who does a lot of the in-house woodwork, about creating a custom bed frame with reclaimed wood. Even if you don't need a new bed, you should check out their other offerings, including in-house yoga. If you live in North Park, or anywhere in the surrounding San Diego area, this is a must check out. As another reviewer said, "shop local, shop small". This is a great space and so unique. Environment: 1. Beautiful art - artists are often on-site to chat with you about their pieces. 2. There's always a dog there to greet you at the door, along with Sonia the owner! Quality: 1. The beds are so comfortable, it was actually hard to chose one, but 2.
