It's the second time posting a review. After the first time, I was bombarded by calls and voicemails by Melissa saying that it was unfair, that the agency did a perfect job, and that was purely the candidates and my fault that the things ended up bad. Basically, it was victim-blaming, and for a while, I even felt ashamed and removed the detailed description of what was going on. But deep down, I knew I was right, and I think it's crucial to warn other parents to be careful with this agency. Save your money and sanity. If you think that you're paying high hourly rates and high agency commission for your safety and assurance, you're wrong. If something wrong happens, they will blame you. They'd say something like "we asked you how the candidate was, and we were ready to give you another one" without questioning themselves that it shouldn't be your job to evaluate the dangerous and harmful practices. So they're perfectly thriving on your trust, exhaustion, and vulnerability as a parent. 1) They don't feel responsible for candidates. Every reputable company takes responsibility for the people who work for it. When eventually I got rid of our nanny after paying her dozens of thousands of dollars, they told me "you're blaming us, but it was a candidate that you didn't like." Saying that "we're not responsible for our candidate's behavior" is so alarming! You handle in their hands the most precious thing you have - your baby, and you end up with someone who doesn't care who they hire as long as they don't have a criminal record and have babysat for a while. 2) They don't know about their staff practices, or they claim not to know about them. Our nanny overfed our baby (giving ridiculous 8 OUNCES 6 TIMES A DAY). I was a first-time mom, and I trusted her until I saw how resistant my son was to drink all of it. Eventually, I asked my pediatrician, and he said that it's much more than the baby of his size needs. Many other of her practices were against the American Association of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommendations. The agency claimed they didn't know that.. It means there's no examination of these "nurses', not nannies'" expertise and knowledge. So it would be you who should be checking what these people doing to your child because it seems that they would be doing anything to shut the baby up (our "nurse" even proposed once to take the crying baby out of the car seat when I was driving) 3) They are promising Covid protection, but there's nothing they can do to prevent their employees from working for their other clients unofficially and visiting social gatherings. Checking the temperature every morning sounds childish because you can have Covid and transmit it to others even when you do not have a fever yourself. Our nanny in the beginning told us that she was going to combine working for us with working for another family (unofficially). We increased her hours only to protect our family from Covid, and as a result, we were blamed for doing this by the agency (and they put it as a reason for the contract termination, not that they placed someone dangerous for the baby) 4)They didn't even feel embarrassed that they're selling costly service of a candidate who doesn't have proper knowledge and expertise to begin with. Real expertise and valuable experience aren't measured only by the hours physically spent at work. You can mindlessly do the same repetitions over and over again, while real expertise requires focused attention and active learning. I'm writing all this because I feel sorry for other parents and first-time moms in particular who might end up in the same situation as we did. Try to find someone knowledgeable and caring through your friends, and not believe that paying to this agency guarantees you this type of service. Of course, there are things that will make a baby sleep and behave well, but at which cost? With what long-term consequences? read more

Lissette was an absolute life saver! We could not get our 3.5 week old daughter to sleep anywhere but on us, and even that was challenging. She was basically eating around the clock, meaning none of us were getting any sleep. Lissette came for a consultation and was quickly able to identify that she wasn't getting full enough feeds, so just by making a small tweak, we were able to stretch out the feeds to the 3 hours they should be and give my daughter (and us) time to sleep. She came a few times over the course of a week and already I feel like I have a different baby, and I'm a different mom. I feel so much more confident in understanding her needs and am able to enjoy her so much more. I will definitely be reaching back out to Lissette as our journey continues! read more

We had a bad experience with Sleeping Angels. We really liked one nanny whom they introduced to us, and agreed to hire her. Unfortunately she canceled a few weeks before she was due to start. We asked for a refund on the Sleeping Angels' fee, but Melissa refused. There wasn't anyone else we wanted to hire, so we had lost both a month of preparation and several thousand dollars. Melissa's explanations for why we couldn't have a refund didn't make sense -- she kept saying it was impossible to refund the fee because they were "a legal company" (I don't understand what that means, and Melissa couldn't explain it). I even suggested compromising on 50% of the fee, to no avail. It seemed like the underlying logic was that they had our money and could use the contract to avoid giving a refund. In the end, we did try out another nanny through them, but decided to part ways with her after a couple of weeks. read more

I debated posting this because I know I'll get attacked with falsehoods again, but this is important. During the pandemic, a family's safety rules should be followed. Our rule was that our nanny/nurse must wear a mask when with the baby. We paid for her and our Covid tests as well. However, we were challenged on that rule by the agency, and unfortunately it became contentious after the nurse failed to wear a mask one time. We don't know everything about this virus so being overly careful when it comes to your baby should not be questioned. I'll probably get an unpleasant reply and accusations from them again on this but trust me, they were not spectacular in this regard. read more

Ironically, my eight-month old now sleeps better than I do. And Lissette is the reason. At around 5 weeks, my son decided he would no longer sleep unless he was being rocked, held, and sucking on a pacifier. By 9 weeks, we were utterly exhausted and beside ourselves. Now I understand not all agree with sleep programs, but I was desperate and so I called Lissette. She put us on a strict eat, play, sleep routine, and within two nights, my son was in the crib, unswaddled and without a pacifier. I will not lie to you, it was TOUGH. I think our son is more difficult that most babies. He is STUBBORN to the core, and his brain does not rest for a second. But by 10 weeks, he was sleeping six hours at a time and starting to nap during the day. And by 4.5 months, he was sleeping 12 hours a night and napping four hours a day. It took a lot of hard work to get there, and you have to be willing to commit to the program, but, if you do, it works. Our son is the happiest, smiliest, most rested little guy ever. As you can see I'm not a big Yelper but I feel compelled to share. Whoever said money doesn't buy happiness never had to buy sleep. Beg, borrow, or steal if u must... they take credit cards. Lissette saved me, my career, and most likely, my marriage! Sleep deprivation is no joke. Here's how NOT to do put a baby to bed... nurse or shush with a pacifier, wait for deep sleep, pray for right timing, begin a lengthy SLOW mission impossible-style transitioning of the baby from your arms to the crib. Success rate 1 out of 4. The other 3 times baby wakes up crying... rinse and repeat. When I wasn't busy in the middle of doing everything wrong, I was in tears feeling sorry for myself. The point is that the baby had stopped listening to her own body and needs. She was dependent on me for direction and I was leading us down a dangerous road of sleep deprivation and crying. Going back to work was inconceivable. Lissette knows her stuff. While working with her, I would text her play by play and she was there for me. It was't easy but I was determined to see it through because I was NOT going back. There was some crying to un-program the nonsense I had taught my daughter. Now I put the baby down in her crib, she falls asleep ON HER OWN with-in 10 minutes. NO CRYING. She sleeps 12 hours at night (even while teething) and has long naps during the day. Lissette didn't just help the baby learn to soothe herself and listen to her own needs, she trained me to listen to the baby and be able to distinguish her different cries. No tricks (pacifiers, spa music, white noise machines, dream feeds... etc.). My daughter wakes up smiling :) BUT YOU MUST BE WILLING TO DO THE WORK. We didn't "sleep train" my baby. We training ME to listen so we could help the baby listen to herself. My daughter is now happy, developmentally ahead, and balanced. Turns out, babies do a lot of growing during their sleep. Since sleep impacts EVERYTHING.... EVERYTHING got better: play, food, poop, milk supply...!!! Even beyond the sleep, Lissette showed me how to do full feedings and proper burping (no more tummy aches). She even helped me identify toys that prevented a baby's development. I ended up with over $500 of store credit for stuff on my registry that I didn't need. It was like a one stop training shop. This is long overdue. We brought Lissette on to help "sleep train"our then 3.5 month old (we were the ones that needed training to undo all the madness we created - rocking, ergo, white noise machine etc). She was a crabby baby, most referred to her as colicky. Cried a LOT! Cried in the car, the stroller essentially anywhere. Only wanted her mom (aka me) and no one could help me with her. She would only sleep 30 minutes at a time during the day (after rocking, bouncing in my arms etc... swings did NOT work). That had to stop because I developed tendinitis from it. Lissette worked with us for a few days and after working consistently on the schedule she gave us, my baby would nap 2 hours in the morning, 1 at noon and 2 more in the afternoon and then down for bed at 6pm. It was AMAZING. Not only did this improve her sleep but I had a whole new baby on my hands. She was a happy baby who didn't scream bloody murder in the car anymore (even commutes 152 miles a day with me).turns out my baby wasn't colicky, she was just tired and cranky. My husband and I welcomed our second baby daughter 5 months ago. The day after she was born she started crying anywhere from 6-9 hours each night despite feeding her on demand, keeping her in a dry diaper, changing my diet to reduce any source of colic, and holding/rocking her constantly. About 4 weeks into this, my husband and I felt so defeated that we decided to contact Lissette. She began working with us to develop a sleep plan for our daughter when she was 5 weeks old. Lissette was clear about what my expectations should be about sleep training for a 5 week old versus a 7 month old (the age my first daughter was when we started sleep training). In order to carry out a sleep program for a baby at this age, you must strongly consider their weight and structure the plan based on set times for feedings. As a parent of a baby at this age, you must remain committed to following this schedule very closely if you want to succeed in getting your baby to eventually sleep through the night. I must admit that also having a toddler made it quite challenging to stick to this schedule. However, during the first 3 weeks of following our plan, we were able to greatly minimize the duration of her crying and since she was steadily gaining weight, we were able to eliminate her night feeds by 12 weeks. Now that my daughter is 5 months old, I can honestly say that working with Lissette for the second time is a true blessing. Sleep training, especially for babies who are not yet consuming solid foods, is a very controversial topic and personal decision. My husband and I felt we needed good rest to be the best parents we can be to two very young children, but we wanted to consider their safety first and foremost. Sometimes I have felt some anxiety about whether or not I was doing the right thing, however, while working with Lissette, she has alleviated my anxiety by providing me with an abundance of support through each step of the process. If you decide that sleep training is appropriate for your baby, then I strongly recommend Lissette to assist you with this process. Lissette sleep-trained our little one when he was about 4 months old. She was/is amazing! She was firm and had a definite plan and stuck to it but she did it with so much love.
