We got several great suggestions for things to see while in the area, and Jeff even loaned us a state atlas with some routes marked for a wonderful drive through the surrounding countryside. None of the sites have sewer connections, but the owner will do a "honey wagon" visit for just $5, and he'll also do the dump as you leave! There's no TV unless you have satellite, and I'm not sure how good that would be due to the large trees all around the park. But, our stay was so pleasant that it didn't matter.

And "I don't think you can get there from here" was heard by another. There's no quick way to Leen's Lodge. Ok, there is a floatplane that gets you there quickly from Bangor. But you have to get yourself to Bangor, first. Driving it's two hours from the airport. But it is worth every bit of effort to get there. Leen's Lodge is a gem on the edge pristine clear waters of West Grand Lake in the heart of the northern Maine wilderness. The lodging is rustic - it is cabins on the lake. But they are clean, quaint, and comfortable. The service and food are top-notch. The proprietors, Scott and Kris Weeks, and family, along with a few extra staff provide an experience you won't ever forget. Dinner - 5 stars. The first night I had the most amazing, perfectly seasoned, tender lamb chops with freshly baked homemade bread, wild rice, asparagus, and dessert was local blueberry pie. Other entrees included maple glazed salmon, filet mignon, and fresh Maine lobster. Breakfast - You cannot beat it. Blueberry pancakes with local maple syrup and thickly sliced bacon. My morning order "Wendy, make whatever looks good today." I was never disappointed. But you are not just coming here for the food. It's an epic outdoor experience - the quality of hunting and fishing is among the best in the world. We fished and caught as many big perch as we wanted, plenty of smallmouth bass, and even some land-locked salmon. (I won't mention that my fishing buddy hooked an eel - that did not get in the boat.) All of this with epic views while bald eagles and osprey soar overhead. The fishing guides are amazing and make the experience suitable for anyone - whether you are an accomplished angler or you've never even baited a hook, you'll find what you're looking for here. I understand the hunting is even better. When you're there, don't forget to look up at the night sky. I don't think I have ever seen the stars so bright. I am counting the days until I can return to Leen's Lodge.

We've stayed in hotels, houses, etc…read more but this Lodge has a pool table and lots of room to have all your friends staying locally as well to all meet up and hang out together. They decorations are so cool you could spend an hour just exploring. And, the kitchen!! Has everything you could think of to make enough for a crowd. The owner knows all the sweet spots to travel to and will even show you around! Dont miss out on staying here! Its on the trails, close to store for gas or a license, and close to town and restaurants.

Words of warning: Ole Man (Paul Renaud) can be very abusive to hikers and I experienced it first…read morehand. He accused me just before boarding the shuttle to Baxter State Park of not paying for the shuttle - in front of a group of other south bound hikers who were to be my "trail family" over the next few weeks. It was a shocking, humiliating experience to say the least. I HAD paid; he also had time to discuss this with me privately the previous day. (fwiw, I am a retired engineer with ample income to cover these trivial costs). When I could bring myself to talk about it to other hikers the stories flowed. Abusive behavior toward a deaf hiker who could not hear him, threats to call the police on another hiker whose crime was to show up and find out he did not have enough money to stay at the lodge, and abusive behavior toward his employee, ez rock, a gentle helpful guy. This behavior is not only abusive to the hiker experiencing it but an embarrassment for those having to witness it. One hiker told me to not let him ruin my hike; unfortunately it did for several days. It may be time for Paul, Ole Man, to retire from this work he obviously cannot handle appropriately.

I love the 19th century feel. Did not love the nonexisting wifi - I had to go down to the living room to get any semblance of connection, but my room was up top with zero service. Not the quietest place but I've had worse. The weird part - for the cheaper rooms there's a shared bathroom. Fine, it's an old house. But the other person didn't lock the door. Didn't notice the "VACANT" when you walked in, eh? Well you sure noticed me! I hightailed it back, heard that person rush back to their room, and the bathroom was all set for my shower. Unforgettable is a positive thing, right? Can't really speak to the hotel staff as they were never present - just had my key at the front desk and name/room number. Anyone could walk in there and take a key and a room - until the person whose room it was supposed to be walks in and doesn't have a key. Not great, but at least the room locks! Oh, and my room had a reclining rocking-couch. I kid you not. I wanted to sit down and I had to jam a fireplace log under it so I could sit without it rocking all over the place. (I wanted to try to sit down with wifi. That wasn't happening.) Verdict: If you need to stay in Lincoln, I don't want to be too harsh with my star rating. It's not a terrible place, it's just very much walk-in-and-sleep. Nothing else to recommend for it.

Just ask the people working there and they'll tell you. Junior Lake is the lake on which this place is located and it's newer and more well equipped than other camps in the area. Showers are available in the cabins and even at the campsites and the nature you will enjoy is truly epic. Photo worthy scenes at every turn. Fishing, hunting, or just something as simple as bird watching or hiking all rates a 10/10 for me. There was a bald eagle in the dock area that sort of hung out all day looking for treats from fishermen. Ancient native indian land that still looks like it did a thousand years ago has to be seen to be believed. Saw a moose on an ATV trail and heard the haunting howls of what may have been an as of yet unidentified cryptid. Islands in the lake are also campable and are a favorite of the local bear population looking for "pick-a-nick" baskets. I met a lot of nice people here and plan on going back as soon as time permits. Beautiful place for the whole family to enjoy. Very well maintained, cabins are equipped with all dishes, pots, pans, and cutlery. Very reasonably priced. Memories that will last for a lifetime. Check out some of the photos I attached.
