Upon arriving at the property you are greeted with a feeling of warmth and peace. Everything from the porch with hanging swings to the inside décor makes you feel relaxed and at home. I stayed in the Lighthouse Room which is the perfect size for two people. The full size bed and fluffy pillows are comfortable and you'll sleep well. For breakfast Georgia makes delicious meals. Tuesday morning's menu consisted of a delicious egg soufflé, pancakes, bacon and sausage. There are other items from which to choose such as fresh fruit and cereal. Since our visit last summer, the property has undergone another evolution. They have refreshed the public areas and replaced the HVAC systems. In a universe governed mostly by entropy and bad air circulation, a crisp, quiet hotel room is a minor miracle. The renovated common spaces are bright, modern, and inviting, standing in sharp contrast to the fading ghost of the mall across the road. Yet while the ductwork and lobby have been modernized, the soul of the place remains untouched. The staff here continues to be absurdly, wonderfully kind. They do not treat you like a credit card with legs; they greet you like long-lost cousins returning home for a family reunion. Every interaction is pleasant, genuine, and unrushed. The staples that make this place a haven are all still here. The Costa coffee machine that literally showed up while we were visiting last year grinds whole beans on demand, dispensing hot sanity to accompany cinnamon rolls designed to obliterate any lingering notions of human self-restraint. The rooms are spotless, the beds are exceptionally comfortable, and the blackout shades permit a sleep so deep it feels subterranean. Everything works. Everyone is nice. In a chaotic world, that is about as close to perfection as a roadside hotel can get. So it goes. Five stars, hands down. We will be back next summer.

Back to front desk asking which hotel in the area was better... She said I will give you another room. After have been driving for almost eight hours, I just wanted to sleep. The third room was fine. No clue what was on the packaging. I don't want to know. The outdoor stairs and walkways were dark and dingy, with cigarette butts and rags practically everywhere. Garbage cans in the walkway were full. Once we opened the door to our room, the smell, oh the smell!! It smelled like an old old smokers seedy moldy motel. Yes, the furniture appears new, and the room has been painted. With all that, how hard should it be to keep it clean and well stocked for the next guests?? We had no TP when we checked in. We had to call and then stop someone outside the room and ask for TP. We were given a few bath towels. Obviously there's a language barrier. I used Clorox wipes to wipe down all handles, switches, counters, rods, and the URINE FROM THE TOP AND SEAT OF THE TOILET. The smears on the toilet, toilet paper dispenser, and tub next to the toilet were gross. Again don't want to know what they were. The floor was sticky. The throw rugs had stains, which looked like someone had some sex-capade. The phone rang each of the two mornings at 5:30 am, not requested by us. Oh and the a/c unit is very old. Not sure if the filters have ever been changed. The unit itself on the inside of the room was very dirty. One more thing. The window you can't see out of. Either the seal has broken on the double pane windows, or they were extremely dirty. Save your money and stay elsewhere!!

General rule for hotel breakfast: is get there earlier, we were highly impressed with the selection. One morning had little egg omelets, sausage, and the next had scrambled eggs, bacon, and hashed browns, along with make your own waffles and cold breakfast items ( cereal, fruit, granola, bagels) Staff we encountered overall were plesent, helpful, and they do make the hotel, feel like a home away from home.

They have a small gym, and a laundry for people who stay for a while. Fortunately, it was only a night for us. (That wasn't a knock at the hotel, we needed to get to where we were going.) For a one-night stay, this was fine. We didn't consider this when we booked the reservation; they also offer a breakfast. It's a typical motel breakfast - some pastries, cereal, oatmeal, make-your-own waffles, toast, etc. But it was just what we needed before, once again, hitting the road.
