Went on a climbing trip to a crag close to Nanticoke PA and luckily found this campground to stay…read moreat for one night during Memorial Weekend. For 2 of us, paid $30 total for one night for a tent site (tent sites are in the strip of land across the road from the main office). The tent site was much better than I thought. 1. only 3 parties there in a very large area reserved for tent only camping, we were very spread out and it was pretty peaceful 2. camp site right next to a beautiful creek! 3. had electric outlets and tap faucet right next to the tent site. We didn't bring anything that could be plugged into an outlet but thinking in the future I could be sitting in a hammock and watching a movie on my laptop while being charged 4. camp site didn't have a fire pit or an obvious hole in the ground where you make your fire safely but we were out climbing very late and too tired to make a fire anyways when we got back. Lots of fallen branches you can collect to make a fire. The other 2 parties had built fires, didn't see how they did it. 5. the shower house closest to the main offices had large showers which were in decent level of cleanliness, paper towels kept running out though so bring your own Overall, very happy with this campground and will definitely come back in the future! A couple of things I noticed (1) the area where RV's are parked looked pretty crowded and also loud (2) I don't think I saw anyone else wearing masks around the campground, even when a lot of people were going in and out of the office. The 2 of us may be the only ones wearing masks there, when going into the office and using the bathroom

Since then there have been a lot of changes under the management of the new owners!!! The new owners have done a terrific job updating and cleaning up the property in just a short 6 months. They have remodeled cabins, painted the bath houses and pavilions, reinforced and painted the playground and fixed the roads that lead to each of the 3 levels of the grounds. That's just the beginning of what they have in store for upcoming seasons. It has been so much fun meeting new people who have been so kind and friendly!! We've had numerous gatherings at the main pavilion with live music, food, games and hay rides!!! 4th of July weekend they put on a fireworks display and at Halloween a Trunk or Treat for the kids!!! I love our new campground family!!!

We really enjoyed that we were not packed like sardines in the campground and we had space to move around. We will be back next summer when we visit that area again.

We were…read moreactually VERY excited about it, however I the morning of August 30, I got in a severe accident with my truck where I was rear-ended and my truck was disabled. This accident caused my truck to be totaled and sent me to the hospital. From the hospital I called the campground to let them know I was not able to make it because I had no way to tow my 40' trailer with the truck being totaled. Over the course of the next week or so I called several times to see if there way anyway I could keep my $45 dollar deposit and use it for a future stay. To me, being the situation, this seemed like a reasonable request. I even offered to provide photos of the truck and the situation bu the staff said they did not need it. Finally almost 2 weeks later, I get an email from the staff: Hello William, I had spoken to you a few days ago about your cancellation that you made on August 30th. Unfortunately we cannot transfer funds from the 2019 season to the 2020 season as a credit. Our system doesnt allow us to carry those things over from year to year. Our cancellation policy is a 2 week notice in order to be given your refund for your $45.00 deposit. Since you had to cancel your reservation the morning of your arrival date and we were not able to fill your spot (as we held your site from the date your deposit was made) you are not eligible for that type of refund either. I hope this e-mail answers all of the questions you had. If you have any further questions you can call the office at 570-799-5118. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. We hope to be able to accommodate you in the future. Have a wonderful day! SpringBrook Campground Management I really cannot believe they are so hard up for cash they won't let the deposit be transferred or waved in this unfortunate event. They have lost a future customer, that is for sure. Until this point, we would have gone back, but at this point I will NEVER recommend them to ANYONE. In fact, I will tell everyone I know to AVOID this place at all costs!!!! Unprofessional staff and incompetent owners who cannot pick up the phone to talk with a customer!

So much so that when we found that campground booked for the summer we took the advice of a co worker and stayed at Fantasy Island nearby. If you're looking for a simple, affordable, fun for the kids camping retreat this is your spot. Located right on the Susquehanna the (seasonal) riverfront spots had their own boat slips. The rest of the campground wasn't wooded in the least which I appreciated, but the sites were pretty tight. Each site had a concrete patio and full hook up including cable and wifi - although I was unable to connect to the wifi (hubby did though). At only $42/night in the prime season the price couldn't be beat! The campground was small and simple with one bathhouse. It wasn't horrible but there were some critters. It was equipped with a table/chairs in front of a mirror for a makeshift vanity area to do your makeup separate from the sink. That was a smart touch. They also rented out one cabin. I didn't see any areas for tents. There were about 100 camp sites. They also had a playground and volleyball net. I was told that usually a food truck parks inside the premises. The store was small but did sell the essentials at a very good price. Imagine my surprise when I ran out of suntan lotion and picked up a full size tube of a kid formula spf 50 for only $2!!!! The dollar store costs more than that! They also had ice cream novelties ranging in price from .35 cents to a max of $2, flip flops and floaties were only a buck. They did close early at 7pm, but the attached rec room/gathering place/arcade combo was open at all hours. I noticed in the rec room they had bikes/scooters you could rent (we didn't inquire) as well as books. There was a big screen tv with dvd as well as a huge, comfortable leather sectional sofa. You could watch your movies there but they didn't supply dvds. A pool was present complete with a limited number of loungers and covered tables ranging in depth from 3-5'. It was so relaxing on the hottest weekend of the season and usually full of campers. The weekend of our stay was Christmas in July and they went all out. If you signed up your kids at the store Santa called their name and they got a baggie of goodies. The rec area was all decked out for the holidays complete with the tv set on a fireplace mood, complete with crackle noise effects. Several of the campers did elaborate Christmas displays. When I say this campground is simple, it isn't an insult. It's just enough stuff to unwind and have kids get back to being kids; playing on the equipment, swimming in the pool, and playing with other kids. While I do wish they had more activities scheduled, it was nice to just take it easy and let the kids play without a lot of shuffling around to make sure we do and see everything. They did have a potluck dinner the one night which we really enjoyed. The manager was super friendly and involved as were our neighbors who were all seasonal. Guests are free ($3 for pool use - get wrist band at store) and can stay till 10 pm, wish I knew that in advance as we would have had some friends come up for the day. From talking with the seasonals a spot is $1900 per season which runs April 15-Oct 15. At that time you must remove and dismantle your campsite (sheds, rocks, garden, outdoor décor, etc) as township doesn't allow campers to be kept there all year. You can get your same site back if you prefer. They do not rent golf carts. No dogs allowed in any of the buildings, pool area, and playground. As a non dog person I really appreciated that! Overall a very nice, clean, vintage feeling campground, one will we most likely return to when we want some downtime.

On the other hand, because of so much COVID-related isolation, quarantine and fear, it was refreshing to be in a place where that fear was not present. You could hear the laughter and jovial conversations of neighbors as well as children running and playing together. 1 big con for us was that the showers were only open 2 hours in the morning (9-11 AM) and 2 hours in the afternoon (5-7 PM). We wake up early and shower every morning before our 6 AM meditation but since the water was off in the morning we had to resort to "birdie bathing" in the sink. And even then, they did not turn on the water one afternoon and we were there waiting in the bathroom for 30 min until one of us finally told the employees to turn it on. They said that the person on duty must've forgotten...It was 5:30 by then. The limited hours is annoying, I would recommend extending them and also being punctual and responsible with turning the water on so that you don't have a bunch of dirty campers lined up outside of the bathroom to use the shower. Overall, the experience was positive and the environment was relaxing. We enjoyed our stay and it was a worthwhile visit because we had first-time campers with us. That being said, I would probably not visit again. Been there done that.
